Haven't checked-in in a while... I am 2 whole days away from reaching W30! I have stayed 100% compliant the whole time. I am stoked! I have energy again and it feels wonderful... I am having some anxiety about reintroducing foods. I'm finding it difficult to come up with a plan, because of the anxiety... Any suggestions? I know that I will be staying, most of the time, Paleo and I will be avoiding any refined sugars (I have found in my W30 journey that I was addicted to sugar, BIG TIME, and need to avoid it). I'm feeling so good and do not want to go through through that again.
NSV? My son and husband were over-the-moon that I bought them Doritos and buns to go with their dinner last night, .  The victory for me was not just taking a leap and allowing that food back into the house, it was the fact that I had absolutely no desire to "eat just one"; on the contrary, I couldn't stand the smell of them! This made me feel so good and just reaffirmed all my hard work. Another NSV, my clothes are fitting so much better.
I had a doctor's appointment a couple weeks ago. He was very encouraging about W30. He asked me to get some blood work done and follow-up with him. My appointment is next week and can't wait to see what my labs look like compared to a year ago. Hoping to eventually be taken off some medications, that no 36 y/o should be on.

Hello so here are my stats: lost 9 pounds and about 1.5 inches around thighs, buttocks and 2 inches around the waist.
Reintro has been successful. I started with diary - yoghurt and cottage cheese. No side effects, feeling great! I did reintros after my first two W30s so I know that yeast is a no, no for me and of course sugar - so I am just bringing back my favorites one day at a time, keeping yeast and sugar out!
I hope everyone is doing well.

Yesterday was R1D31 for me & I started the reintroduction phase of Whole30, I’m super excited and scared at the same time.
Before I get into my results from my first food reintroduction, I need to confirm what Improvements I achieved while following Whole30.  In addition to my lack of GERD symptoms & leg cramps, I saw a drop in my blood pressure  and drastically improved blood pressure blood sugar readings.  I weighed yesterday and have lost 10.8 pounds and approximately 5 inches off of my bust, waist and hips (I don’t know the exact number because I couldn’t find a measuring tape at the beginning of the whole 30 instead I used my cat’s leash).
My first reintroduction food group was legumes so:
At breakfast, I included hummus with snap peas (I loved the taste and only experienced a slight twinge in my stomach).  I enjoy hummus and chickpeas in general (especially curry) so would like to include them as a weekly vegetarian meal option in the future.  The hummus that I bought for the reintroduction test listed soybean oil in the ingredients which may have been the cause of the slight stomach twinge..  I would make my own in the future.
Lunch included a serving of peanut butter (it didn’t taste as I remembered and within 30 minutes, I was writhing with stomach cramps and had diarrhea.  This passed within a half hour but then I experienced some sharp muscle pain at the top of my right shoulder that radiated into my neck.  Needless to say I shan’t eat my old peanut butter again.  After I complete the Fast Track, I will introduce peanuts again without the additives.
dinner included peas which I enjoyed but... the muscle pain returned followed by a brief headache.  I was also really hungry within a few hours of eating and started snacking...I will have to eat these in moderation if at all.  I may also try yellow split peas later because split pea soup is a favourite vegetarian meal.
Snacking on potato chips led to leg cramps after I went to bed.  The chips were a food without brakes for me and thus will likely only be consumed in moderation when out.  Dang one of my favourite things to eat but obviously one that is not good for me.
good luck everyone when you start your reintroduction phase,

Day 20...but not.  I caved and had some wine yesterday.  For me, being able to enjoy a glass is the signal to my brain and body that it's time to unwind.  I know there are other things I can do to give myself that same signal, so I am not giving myself a pass - I broke my Lenten W40.  I'm also really okay with it.  Last week I was talking about how to shift from strict rule-following to being in maintenance mode, where my primary eating habits are W30 compliant with the foods I absolutely don't want to live without being a part of my eating without taking me out of overall compliant eating.  Yesterday I drank something that's noncompliant, and I didn't go off the rails.  Today I'm back to being 100% in compliance without batting an eyelash.  I think the shift has occurred for me, and I'm really excited about how that's going to look over the long term.

I had dreams last night about eating tortilla chips!  I don't remember having dreams about eating non-compliant food during my first W30, but I know this is a common experience.  LOL, I felt so guilty in my sleep that I even dreamt I spit out one of the chips after realizing I wasn't supposed to eat it.  I'm a little on the struggle bus.  I have been craving wine a lot and I noticed this morning (thankfully not last night!) that my husband opened a bottle.  It's just sitting on the counter, looking delicious.
Yesterday or Tuesday I was talking about my nervousness about maintenance after this Lenten W40 ends and it's so funny how the universe works!  I am the Director of Teachers and an Instructor at a yoga studio, and I learned that in April I'll be facilitating a 28 Day Program for which nutrition is a component.  It will give me the motivation to be really mindful about non-W30 eating and it creates accountability because I'll be sharing my experiences with the participants in the program.
Happy Friday-Eve for those of you in the US/Canada and Happy Friday to those of you on the other side of the world!

Beginning Day 9 here in Indiana. I feel AMAZING guys! I woke up without grogginess and totally focused, ready to tackle the day. Thinking to myself, “Is this what tiger blood feels like? Cause THIS is AWESOME!” I really hope it’ll last throughout the day.

So, my faves, that I know I don't want to live without, are wine and popcorn.  On the surface, that shouldn't be hard to introduce, right???  And yet, it opens up this whole mindset of, well, I'm not Whole30-ing so....and bring on the fried cheese and pizza.  In saying that, the work for me is in shifting away from an attitude of Rules vs. No Rules and instead adopting an approach to eating that is along the lines of Maintenance, I think.  Eating Whole30 except for the things I really don't want to live without.

Day 14!  I was talking to my boss yesterday about Whole30 and she was like, You're doing it again?  Which got me thinking about why.  I want Whole30 to become my default way of eating and after my first completed W30 and my subsequent attempts, I've never been able to make it such a strongly entrenched habit that it's my "go-to".  I hope that after this Whole40, it's that much more engrained in my to cook and eat W30 most of the time, with exceptions for my favorite "worth it" foods and not go completely off the rails.  I'm not sure how that really looks because I haven't been successful at maintenance, so that's what I'll have to figure out over the next 26 days.
Love so much reading about all the NSVs lately!  You guys are so inspiring and amazing.

Day 9!  Because I'm committing to 40 days for Lent, I'm almost 1/4 of the way through.  I can't believe how minimal my PMS symptoms have been!  I knew that I felt better - less tenderness in my chest, less moody, fewer cravings for salty, fatty, cheesy foods from the first time, but when I was off W30 and experiencing PMS symptoms like I did BEFORE I discovered this way of eating, I was shocked at what I was putting up with.  There have been a few times in the last couple of days that I've been soooo tempted to stop and get some mozzarella sticks, but I haven't.  I've also been tempted to crack open a bottle of wine at the end of some very long nights and haven't.  You guys keep me so motivated and I'm so happy we're all in this together!  xo ~Lisa

I tried it! It was delicious! It definitely helped to have a non-egg day. I made a huge frittata and was able to do eggs again. I just need one day a week to be a non-egg day to give myself a break. I also tried having some broccoli and cauliflower in the morning without the eggs but with some turkey patties and avocado. It as a struggle. Definitely easier to eat and digest cold than warming it up. Powering through.
Thanks everyone for the tremendous support with my breakfast battles.

Day 6 for me and some NSVs:
First, I realized this morning that I had no GERD symptoms over night
Second, my headache which I’ve had every morning since starting Whole30 only lasted about a half hour
Third, I was able to eat an almost good breakfast...still no green veggies but a tomato added onto the plate
Most important... fasting blood sugar reading of 6.7 the best I’ve had since my Type 2 Diabetes diagnoses... lots of room for improvement but I’m savouring the movement in the rift direction
i also seem to have improved energy between naps... still on a boiled water advisory but at least there is running water!
