    Food-Logging Mobile App?

Posting here to bring this up again. Any other apps people like for food/goal/nutrient tracking (w/o tracking calories)? Thanks!

    Unsupportive Doctors??

I was pleased to come up with a doctor in this database who's also in the database of internists from my insurance. The doctor's website seems a little moonbeams and rainbows though. In fact the contact info starts "[email protected]" so it does not inspire my trust. Ha. I might just have to ask around for recommendations to a nutritional therapist and pay out of pocket somehow. :-/ I don't want someone who is a "weight loss clinic" or pushing supplements or whatnot, but I am new to this and going to a traditionally trained doctor who barely holds back from rolling their eyes at me when I say I am avoiding grains is already exhausting. I wish I was still in NYC. It would be easier to find support there, I bet. I'm in the Florida 'burbs now and it seems daunting.
  3. I'm going to be away for a week with my job and have gotten used to putting coconut milk in my coffee. Any portable options out there? Little packets of coconut cream maybe? I see coconut milk powder online... would that mix up ok in coffee? Many seem to have milk proteins and I am trying to avoid dairy. I'm post-Whole 30 but trying to still be "good." Any suggestions for traveling/hotel/catered foods? Thanks for any info! ~Jess

    Anyone Starting 3/11 (Monday)?

Day 8. I've been mentally cheating, and grazing all weekend. January/February I was pretty dedicated to at least having the food dialed in, this second stab at W30 I have much less enthusiasm and resolve. That is par for the course for me. I try out a new way of eating, get bored after 8 wks or so. Family has no desire to change eating habits, at least not any time soon, and deadlines/pressure at work make me want to just forget about this right now. Ugh. I'm not on template at breakfast: too much fat not enough veggie content. Was so close to diving into birthday cake yesterday and today there is chocolate chip cheesecake with ganache at work for someone's birthday. Yikes! I need to find my willpower. Maybe need to reread It Starts With Food. Program my S.A.D. Diet brain.

Hi! Glad everyone seems to have had a good start! I am having a crazy week. All my foods have been compliant but not as in-template as I would like. Hopefully I will get good shopping/cooking in this upcoming weekend. January I complained for two weeks straight that I wanted my good coffee and Come Zeroes back. I have beverage issues. ;-). Always looking for something different to drink. I love water though. My dog is jumping on me. Can't type. Lol. Have a good day 4 tomorrow. :-)

Tips for surviving shift work arrived in my email the other day via Robb Wolf: It's a Big Ol' Pile of ‘Shift' Work Good luck to all. I am not off to an awesome start. Weekend was very crazy with my kids' activities and some freelance work, and I didn't shop/prep/cook as I should have. But... scraped together compliant foods for breakfast/lunch (sorta—breakfast was lacking in protein). Have a great day 1!

Hi NatPatJen and Pamela! I probably have a different situation from most on these boards. I'm new to the whole concept of paleo, coming to Whole30/Whole9 from pretty much a S.A.D., though I love all the foods I should eat. I just eat the good foods AND the bad foods usually. I'm only 5'1" and began my Whole 30 (turned out to be more like 45) on January 2 at 209 lbs. By Jan 15th, I had lost 12+ pounds. I didn't get all the magic I could have out of my Whole experience, because I was only really doing the food portion. This second time around I am striving to work on sleep and stress management habits as well, and add in some exercise, even if it's just 1 day a week. My schedule has been overloaded, and was supposed to be getting freed up, but I just got more responsibility at work so we shall see. I have two kids and two dogs and a helpful husband and an hour commute. I have lots of excuses, but I also find time for Facebook and TV, so... I could at LEAST get to bed earlier! One good thing from this way of eating that I never had from Weight Watchers or whatever, I was FULL, sometimes too full, and not needing to eat something every few hours. THAT was new. I ate tons of good fats and still lost some weight. I didn't exercise at all and didn't eat small portions or anything like that, and I still lost weight. So, the average active person will do much better!
  10. Was planning to do a second Whole 30 starting March 15th, then I thought, why start on a Friday?! Anybody starting 3/11? I had my totally-new-to-the-Paleo-thing first Whole30 Jan 2-Feb 15 (made it a Whole 44 1/2). It was a moderate success but I have a long way to go, so back to it.

    Gastritis and GI problems

I'm so thankful for these forums and the blogs I've found by reading them. I am post Whole45 now, but since the middle of my Whole45, I had been feeling worse in the stomach, and was thinking,"I gave up all these bad foods! Why do I feel worse eating better?!?!?!" Every day just felt like there was a baseball sitting in my gut below my rib cage, which would swell and feel acidy after eating (full meal or more modestly). Feeling uncomfortably full all the time. The kind of feeling I would usually get after overeating/binging on bad foods. The kind of off feeling that makes you want to lie down and eat rice and saltine crackers. (Very new to Paleo, can you tell?) Bought the Now enzymes Friday night (It's now Sunday morning) and I already feel about 30% better. I never would have thought about LOW stomach acid. Wow.

What's everyone cooking for Valentine's Day?

Everything looks good! I keep seeing recipes for cashew "cheese"-- might have to try that!
  13. I have some shrimp in the freezer. Not sure what I will do with it yet. Hubby is not doing Whole anything (yet!). We're going out to dinner Friday, but Thursday night I'll just make us something after work. What're you making?

Need to vent. Day 41, feeling crappy.

Thanks everyone. Feeling more positive today.

Need to vent. Day 41, feeling crappy.

I think I've convinced the hubby to do a Whole30 with me mid March to mid April. I would like to take another crack at doing it properly, not just food management, but stress and sleep too. It'll be helpful if I can drag him along. :-) Yay, someone who's an OMer. :-) I totally wish my schools had Odyssey. My husband's been a coordinator and coach for 9 years, and our kids have been in it as much as possible since Kindergarten/First grade (my daughter's school hasn't had it some years). I'm frustrated with my team this year though, last year I co-coached most of the same kids and they were more dedicated and easier to coach. This year they have, as hubby says,"Fifth-Grade-itis" and don't want to work. (Fourth and Fifth grade team.) They are all in the gifted and talented program and just want to coast by. It's a shame because they are all super creative and charming. Last year they were first in their division in our region and 5th at State. If we make it to State at ALL this year, it will be because they ad-lib the hell out of the performance, rock Spontaneous, and charm all the judges. They ARE charming. Darn kids. :-)
