Megan Claydon got a reaction from suzannes in PMS and sleep
before your period, are you increasing your caloric intake?
If I wake up at 2-3am, there are two reasons 1. I'm over stressed and cortisol is getting out of whack 2. For some reason I didn't eat enough that day so I'm waking up hungry.
The week before my period starts I allow myself to eat extra sweet potato/fruit and before I go to bed I will eat a little fat (spoonful of coconut butter). The fat gives just enough to keep blood sugar nice and steady throughout the night without spikes and crashes. After my period, its back to my normal eating.
This has really helped me out a lot. Let us know how things go and if anything helps!

    Hey Lauren,
Let me just say that I personally LOVE me some chipotle! It can definitely come in handy when you are in a pinch for food away from home or you want to suggest a place to eat among friends who may not be as into healthy eating as you are. That being said, you are RIGHT, everything they cook is soybean oil based...even if you got the carnitas, the peppers and onions are still sauteed in soybean oil.
To avoid the soybean oil you could do the romaine lettuce, carnitas, guacamole, and pico. Double the meat and maybe even the guacamole too.

I have not found these "cravings" to ever just go away (sorry for the buzz kill, wish it was better news too). During the final week of your cycle, those craving are not the result of a bad habit, which is why you are encouraged to not eat paleo "treats" or copious amounts of fruit while on your Whole30, they are the result of your body telling you it needs something. Its just like when you feel hungry. How you fuel that craving is what matters. I let myself have some extra fruit or sweet potatoes during the last week to help with cravings. In my head it doesn't sound as good as a brownie (duh!), but it gives my body the extra carbohydrates and calories that it needs in that last week.
let us know how it goes next month because I think a lot of women struggle with this week...for more reason than one

Ladies, please give the whole 30 the fullest experience you can. Whole grains do nothing for you. I repeat NOTHING. If you need calories, eat fruit, almond butter, coconut milk, coconut butter. There is simply no reason to resort back to grains for calorie content.
I'm sorry for the tough love here on this, but resorting back to grains is not your only option here.
Nothing worth doing was every easy. Eating grains is easy. Sticking to a whole 30 might be one of the hardest changes you ever make. But I can promise you, it is so worth it!

Melissa- that sounds amazing! Where do you Dallas go when you normally go south of the border?
The only thing I would add on to Melissa's is some beach volleyball and tequila + lime
My ideal vacation would be somewhere in the Mediterranean with my husband. One of the greek islands...
We would rent a a small house, white exterior with a blue roof and an ocean view. Or maybe do more of a B&B style. No alarm clocks! We go to bed and rise with the sun. No cars either! Everywhere we go is by foot, biking, boat, or ATV. Our days would be spent boating, fishing, shopping the local markets, yoga, and hiking. We would would eat lamb, wine, eggplant, olives and figs. We would make friends with locals and learn traditional recipes using local ingredients. On weekends we would travel to other islands or countries to visit.
Oh and I would acquire the ability to tan like a greek goddess! It's a dream ok!

nice work! periods are bad enough...so enjoy that little extra bit of sweet potato, especially if it keeps you from diving head first into a bowl of ice cream!

I really recommend taking Green Pastures fermented cod liver oil. It has 100% cleared up my hormonal acne.

I was doing everything right before....eating clean and using clean organic products on my face, but I would still break out at the same time of my cycle every month. Dallas recommended the fermented cod liver oil and within a few weeks everything was clear. No breakouts at all!

    It's pretty amazing stuff!
