Take it one day at a time. One dinner. One Friday. If you look at the whole 30 days at once it can be quite dissapointing to count how many days it will for your next beer.
Brainstorm other ways to wind down from a hard day/week...
    pedi/mani
    movie night
    massage
    obsess over pintrest (haha!)
try a new recipe, play some music in the kitchen and enjoy the experience
    go out dancing

What are some other ways ya'll relax on a Friday night?

Melissa- that sounds amazing! Where do you Dallas go when you normally go south of the border?
The only thing I would add on to Melissa's is some beach volleyball and tequila + lime
My ideal vacation would be somewhere in the Mediterranean with my husband. One of the greek islands...
We would rent a a small house, white exterior with a blue roof and an ocean view. Or maybe do more of a B&B style. No alarm clocks! We go to bed and rise with the sun. No cars either! Everywhere we go is by foot, biking, boat, or ATV. Our days would be spent boating, fishing, shopping the local markets, yoga, and hiking. We would would eat lamb, wine, eggplant, olives and figs. We would make friends with locals and learn traditional recipes using local ingredients. On weekends we would travel to other islands or countries to visit.
Oh and I would acquire the ability to tan like a greek goddess! It's a dream ok!

I use the orange label kind, so I pour the gelatin in my cup, mix is the a little COLD water to absorb it and make a little gel at the bottom. Then I add my tea bag and fill the cup with hot water.

If you don't do it in that order it won't miz properly

Megan Claydon got a reaction from Dirt Girl in Thinning Hair
I experienced thinning hair problems due to being chronically fatigued and poor dietary choices a few years ago. My pony tail went from being so thick it took multiple hair bands to be held up to being about the size of my thumb. Cried a few tears over that for sure. I'm happy to tell you that things have turned around since, but it's not a change you will see in 30 days. Your hair my start to appear shinier during your w30, but hair growth cycles take about 3 months. So the changes you see in your hair today are the results of life style factors in March/April. Be patient with the process, avoid dairy as best you can and gluten at all costs. Be kind to your hair as well, no coloring or harsh treatments. Coconut oil conditioners are lovely! Consistently eating adequate calories from w30 approved protein and fats are key to long term recovery. I know how hard this is and what it can do to a woman's confidence. Just know you are on the right track towards better health and your hair will eventually be the proof.
    Take care!

Siobbhan - I played club volleyball all through High School and played in college as well. The best advice I can give you is to pack a small cooler to bring along with you. Think sliced deli meat (applegate brand), apples, bananas, sweet potato, coconut water, some nuts. This is the kind of stuff that will get your through the weekend. You will need good fuel to keep energy levels high between games. If you can't pack a cooler than Subway is your next best option, just stick to the salad and double or triple the meat.

Megan Claydon got a reaction from praxisproject in Help I think I'm losing my hair!!!
I can't say the whole30 specifically changed my excessive shedding around. But in general a less stressful lifestyle and completely changing out the products I put in my hair has made ALL the difference.

I have fine wavy hair and I used to have to wash my hair everyday. I would then add product on product to make my hair more shiny, more volume, blah blah. This would then weigh down my wave into a nappy mess so I would straighten it every day too. My just wasn't as healthy as the rest of my body.

So I started experimenting with no-poo, natural shampoos, etc.. It took some time and a little trial and error but it was soooo worth it. I now only wash 2 maybe 3 times a week. My hair has a beautiful natural wave to it now with lots of bounce. Best of all the shedding is minimal now to what is was before.

So I recommend reading the ingredients on your shampoo bottle!

So Now Super Enzymes and Now HCL are basically the same thing. The HCL just has a little extra to aid in digestion. I would NOT double up on the two.

If you are looking more digestive aid I would try looking into fermented foods like sauerkraut or kombucha. I have added these into my diet daily and it has made a huge difference in my gut health and they are super tasty.

I know you said you were eating ribeye and coconut oil. But I can't imagine you were eating that every meal or day....were you? (I would be impressed if you did!) Try adding in avocados, nuts, olive oil.....eating adequate amount of fat really helps me with my cycle. I would say my carb intake is moderate and is more related to my activity level but it was my fat intake that I noticed the biggest difference with my cycle. More fat will also help you keep weight on.
Also, how long did you give whole30 a try for? It is very common for women's cycles to go completely crazy when the start out but it eventually figures itself out so I'm just wondering how long you gave this a go?

This happens to a lot of women. Your first cycle on the whole30 is likely to bring a host of changes. Just goes to show how much of an impact food has on your hormones! Scary right? Try not to stress over it! You know you are eating for health. Your body is just trying to find a new balance.

It will work out. Keep on keeping on!

Have you read the Whole30 Timeline?

You are smack dab in the middle of "kill all things" and "i just want a nap" stages! There is nothing wrong...your body is just adjusting.

I wouldn't worry about one wod going awry. Take a deep breath. Your energy will return full force soon enough. In the mean time if you still feel the need to WOD, do it with the understanding that you will not be breaking any records during the first few weeks of a W30. Take your time, keep your wits about you, and move through the work as your body allows.

    Keep at it girl!

hair cycles usually take 3 months. So what is happening to your hair now is likely the result of what was going on in January. Extreme low carb diet 3 months ago could be what is causing the hair loss if it created a large stress on your body.
There is no quick fix to this. Take a look at lifestyle stressors. Where can you remove stress? I would stay on the whole 30 and when you finish the 30 days try to stay as close to a whole30 as possible. Post whole30 binges can also cause a lot of stress on the body.
Other than that I would try to limit the amount of time you spend blow drying, straightening, and so forth.
I know how hard this. But if the hair loss is the result of stress, you can turn things around with a little TLC.

Yikes honey! Did you take a breath while typing all that out! lol

Yes a lot of people in the crossfit community eat paleo, but there is also a fair amount who don't. Crossfit and paleo is a good match. You just need to do your research in finding a good gym with good coaches. This is especially true given your knee. A good coach will be able to slowly ramp up your intensity as needed and put you into safe movements that don't jeopardize your knee's stability.

Might I also add, eating habits alone make the greatest impact on body composition. You are what you eat. You can crossfit all you want but if your food isn't dialed in you are most likely not going to see any changes.

And NO, women do not get bulky from lifting. The women that you perceive to be "bulky" on the crossfit games are eating, training, and supplementing with the intention to carry around that much muscle. They also have genetics on their side. My point is, you would have to intentionally have a lot of lifestyle changes to add that kind of muscle.

Thanks guys! I usually get home within a half hour at most of finishing the workout, so timing isn't a problem in that aspect. I will definitely switch the pre and post meals around though. I can usually make it to lunch without getting hungry, but I usually get hungry before dinner. Eating the post and then a normal breakfast could delay lunch a bit so there isn't as much time until dinner!

Nooooo!  Not that!  Bigger boobs is really the last thing I need. If i can figure out what part of paleo makes your boobs bigger, I tthink I'll give that part up.

Hey ladies (err it seems to be mostly women trying to get their husbands on board),
I recently had my husband do a guest post on my blog "Guy's Guide to Eating Paleo". Maybe give it a read or have your husbands read it. I think sometimes paleo can be off-putting for guys b/c they are usually not as concerned with losing weight or they refuse to eat chicken and broccoli to do so. My husband gave some great guy advice on what paleo looks like for him. Coconut milk, avocados, sweet potatoes...how can you say no to all that goodness?
Hope it can help some of you out!

I'm in marathon training right now... Pre-WO, I'll have coconut milk in my coffee and a HB egg. If its a hard workout like a long run, I'll have two HB eggs, sometimes with a small scoop of coconut butter. Post-WO, I always have at least 1/2 sweet potato, steamed in the microwave. For harder workouts (long run, tempo/speed work/hill repeats), I'll cook up some sliced banana (use a small bit of coconut oil or evoo and pan-fry/sear on each side) and put that on top of my sweet potato. So good!! Of course you can tinker with those amounts as needed. Sometimes I do more than 1/2 sweet potato, sometimes a whole banana, or a whole potato & whole banana (that's on long run days!). If you're in a pinch for time, you could do a can of compliant tuna with pre-steamed sweet potato cubes (they're not bad when eaten cold). I've found that canned tuna has been my best bet for post-WO protein as its lean, quick/easy, and portable. If you want some extra flavor in the tuna, add some tessemae's paleo BBQ sauce or compliant salsa on top (ill often empty my can into a Tupperware container & add my condiment that way).
