    anyone starting Sept 11???

Day 31 here, too, and I had sugar today in the form of maple syrup. It was in my homemade chocolates that I had a few of as well as the hard chocolate sauce I put on my banana hazelnut ice cream. I think I overdid it though on the calories since I had them as snacks and am also craving tomorrow's Whole30 routine. Three meals a day with a light snack might work but a heavy snack like I did today is just too much. i didn't do measurements before I started but I did weigh. I lost 9.8 lbs! Only 3.8 to my goal now and as long as I don't have days like today (which wasn't awful but I know now that my snack choice is too heavy) I should hit it with not too much trouble.

I just had my new favorite lunch: mixed greens, diced cherry tomatoes, homemade vinaigrette, grilled burger patty, fried butternut squash, all topped with a fried fresh egg. I will be eating it regularly after this is over. One meal left! I am making it a good one and grilling ribs from our homegrown pigs.

I really like this article on RobbWolf.com and it got me doing lots of thinking: https://robbwolf.com/2013/07/11/9010-8020-4060-whats-paleo-percentage/. I thought it was worth sharing since we are all headed towards reintroduction soon and some are considering Paleo and percentages. i spent the evening making dozens of chocolates and muffins for our sons. Even with good-sized Whole30 meals, three growing boys go through a lot of snacks. The muffins are toasted coconut banana bread paleo muffins and the chocolate is three ingredients (coconut oil, maple syrup, and pure dark cocoa powder). I got both all over my hands, especially when putting the chocolate into Star Wars ice cube molds. Luckily I was wearing a stained chore shirt and just wiped my fingers off immediately every time. A dirty shirt is well worth staying on track for the last four days! My husband bought a glucose meter- simply out of curiosity- back in April. Back then I was eating my old normal way and weighed at least ten pounds more than now (I lost ten in August). I tested my fasting glucose a handful of times. It was, on average, 93. We ran out of strips and I didn't test again until yesterday morning: 73!!! This morning was 74! I don't know what the scale will say Wednesday or what foods I will and won't be able to eat again, but I do know my body is healing and getting healthier!

I have already been planning my reintroduction. I only intend to reintroduce the things I have actually been missing. Scones at the local coffee shop with my sons is a big deal to me. We go once a week and slowly eat breakfast while doing schoolwork. Another thing is ice cream. While I usually make it with compliant ingredients anyway, we do enjoy the occasional dairy ice cream treat when they earn the reading reward a local place offers. So I will reintroduce sugar, grain, and dairy over the course of a week. I don't drink alcohol and have not missed legumes one bit. My long-term plan is to eat a Paleo diet (with guilt-free non-Paleo once and a while). We are all thriving on it (my middle son ran a 5k Friday in less than 30 minutes with zero training, felt great, and hiked 4 miles with us today).

Day 19! I finally had fruit again today. We went apple picking with friends and my boys picked me a tiny, beautifully ripe apple to have with my lunch afterwards. It was of course amazing and did leave me wanting more sweets but not as strongly as two weeks ago when I last ate some.

I am happy to see so many still going strong! Way to go! I may have to break down and have a snack today. I have only snacked one day (almond butter macadamia nut ball) and that was when it ended up being over 7 hours between lunch and dinner. Today started earlier than planned and I ate before walking the dogs, which I never do. I have been hungry ever since, even after a usually filling lunch. It will also be another day with at least seven hours between lunch and dinner. So, I may have a little something, possibly celery and hazelnut butter or a small bowl of chili I made last night. Then, I hope to be back on track with meal timing tomorrow to avoid snacks for the last 13 days.

@MegT90, I keep dreaming the same! The dreams are so vivid it is hard to wake up from them. I have been craving sweets though, probably because I keep making my sons ingredient-compliant snacks and smoothies. This morning I took them for their weekly scones (my favorite non-homemade treat) at a local coffee shop and took a big grilled chicken salad along for myself. It is the first grain they have had in a week so we will see if I notice any small changes in them. i need to get more exercise into my days. Walking the dogs 2-3 miles isn't enough. We were doing five miles but then a horse tried to jump its fence at us so now we can't go as far. We could double back but that is honestly a bit too boring for me and the dogs see the driveway and are ready to go home.

Well, I must break a rule. My son's goat has to be weighed and my husband is gone. No one else can hold her to weigh with her and subtract their weight. I may put some potatoes in my pockets to throw my own weight off. The things we do for our kids.

Today was my first struggle getting a filling lunch. I baked salmon fillets and had a small side salad. It was obviously not enough because I still felt very hungry afterwards. I put my plate in the sink and made some celery with homemade 4-nut butter (macadamia, pecan, cashew, almond) and had two small stalks. I finished off my lunch with an almond macadamia coconut ball I made over the weekend. I am not sure I can make it six hours until normal dinner time so it may be an early meal. I have made it to day nine without snacking between meals (huge thing for me) and have only had fruit twice (1/4 apple in a salad and handful of blueberries on a salad). I am really trying to tame the Sugar Dragon and those fruits were so sweet it made me want more. I am trying to go ten days before eating fruit again. The blueberries were Saturday so seven days left My three sons are doing great eating paleo. There are a few Clif bars left in the house but I am saving them for soccer or baseball games. They are better than the Skittles and cosmic brownies handed out recently, which were either refused or thrown away by my boys. They ask me lots of questions about why I can and cannot eat certain things. It is starting a good dialogue with them about nutrition. One confession: I had a really hard time last night making my sons a snack after soccer because I so badly wanted to eat it. My favorite snack is almond butter banana "ice cream" with homemade chocolate (almond butter, bit of maple syrup, coconut oil, and cocoa powder) melted on top. I simply smelled their bowls (they didn't even have chocolate) and went to my room to read. I may have it for breakfast on Day 31.

We are on the way to baseball games for our sons an hour away. I packed a grilled chicken salad (mixed greens, two boiled eggs, 1/2 grilled chicken breast, sliced almonds, tomato, and homemade dressing) to eat for lunch when we arrive. I made paleo banana pancakes to bring for our sons along with grapes and fat bombs I made for them yesterday. My husband just went through the drive-thru and got himself a double bacon cheeseburger.... At least I am able to keep the boys going with me!

Day 3 started out making paleo banana pancakes for my sons followed by a fried egg hamburger patty salad for me. I am slowly switching the kids over to paleo during my Whole30 so it will be easier to stay that way afterwards. Last night they all went through the Whole30 Cookbook picking out recipes I should make. Lunch is supposed to be Twice Baked Mexican Potatoes but I just realized we are out of ground beef. I may have to load the kids up and run to town real fast since they had their hearts set on that meal.... Yep, going to town. I hope all your days go smoothly!

HopingtoHeal, it is tonight's dinner! It smells amazing. I am on my third 32 ounce cup of water for the day and it is almost gone. I suppose the ice is taking up space but I feel I have been drinking plenty. I will definitely try to up it tomorrow, especially since I am not drinking anything else.

My breakfast was a dud but I choked it down. I over roasted the veggies because I was making sweet potato chili in the crock pot for our dinner with my six year old and forgot about them. The eggs helped me make it through to my grilled chicken salad at lunch. Now dinner is an hour away and I am pretty hungry. I am a snacker though and am trying hard to break that habit along with my sweet tooth.

    Starting tomorrow, 9/11

I started this morning as well. My breakfast was a taste failure as I roasted the asparagus and zucchini too long because my six year old was helping me make sweet potato chili in the crock pot for dinner tonight. I just had to wipe peanut butter and honey on my jeans at the park after making sandwiches for my sons a little bit ago. They will be slowly switching over to eating only things I can lick off my fingers!

I am starting Monday as well. The last week has been spent reading "It Starts With Food" and tons of articles on the website. We already eat mostly whole, real foods but it does include whole grains, legumes, and coconut sugar. I think I am ready but the hardest part will be feeding our three sons and husband whom are not doing this first Whole30 with me. If it goes well, I hope to get them all onboard for a January 1st Whole30. I comfort eat throughout the day, big time. I love quiet moments to myself, which I don't get often homeschooling three boys, and enjoy snacking while I read. My energy come morning after late night, unhealthy snacks is very low. I also need to get my hormones in check. Whole30 seems like the absolute best place to start. My body really needs a reset. Good luck, Margot!
