@SineadMon I have always seemed to catch whatever office bug is going around when I start at a new place usually my immune system is good, but those first few days I feel like I need to wear gloves (impolite) or lather with hand anti microbe gel constantly. Oh and wear a mask. I'll be fine, and it seems like a great place.

Day 17... second day of new job. Seems I caught a cold yesterday on day one went home at lunch and hoping to kick my cold tonight. No exercising, but staying compliant even if eating feels like a chore. Last time I tried the whole 30, I got derailed on day 24 due to common cold and wanting comfort food (I think it was mac and cheese). This time, just eating a little less... I'll take comfort in some nice ginger tea. Hope everyone else is staying strong!

@CorgiLover @Tj V Yes, I have some Natural Calm. Sometimes it works great, sometimes it is useless against the racing mind. I feel like this experience has opened me up to all sorts of new outlets. It started with food, but I'm back to exercising, reading, generally kinder to people around me. Thinking I have room to learn some good mediation techniques, that should help. And @Tj V although I appreciate your need to not disappointment any of us... do this for you and you alone. I'm grateful of the support from the forums, but this is my journey, my science experiment. Thanks and stay strong!

Day 15 for me... made it to halfway point, well when I lay me head down for sleep tonight. Sleeping is still tricky, but it has been my adult life, so I wasn't expecting miracles in two weeks. I tried the pasta sauce yesterday, and although the heartburn wasn't as bad as the other day, I still noticed it. Yesterday, I walked all over the city and felt like I had boundless energy! Anyone else getting the Whole30 daily email? It cost some money, but they are very inspirational. Only downside right now is my chronic back pain is still there, but I've gotten back into yoga, so hopefully my grumpy back will get better. That and losing the extra weight. Not doing this for the weight loss, but it will come as I'm not eating out 2/3 of the time and not drinking barrels of beer Hope everyone is staying strong! I made it to day 24 last time... this time, can't stop, won't stop... thinking of making it a Whole 40 or at least until late this month when an old friend is coming to town for a work visit. Cheers!

@Mike5858 I saw the the Mariners last weekend at Safeco. Yes, ballpark will be a tough... prepare to SMELL everything drop of grease in the place and it's always fun to watch people get drunk while you are sober. Cheers and good luck! Stay strong everyone as we head into weekend number 2!

Visualizing myself being much stronger and healthier on the top of a very high mountain.

@_AJP_ I have been eating a handful of olives with my meal if I'm not eating an avocado with it. Also, there is a good bit of fat in nuts. And welcome! Hope everyone is still going strong, day 12 for me here. I discovered last night that pasta sauce is not good for me. Totally compliant, but my science experiment last night gave me bad bad heartburn and bloating. Salsa is fine... just those cooked tomatoes and their acid caused me great pain and discomfort. I decided to use some on my veggies and chicken last night to "spice it up." Ugh... I still have 3/4 of the bottle, so I will likely run the experiment in a couple days to confirm my conclusion. Knowledge is power, we are all the same, but oh so different. If it wasn't for those whole 10 days, I'm sure the heartburn would have been a blur and no exact source would have been obvious.

Ugh, insomnia is no fun... it struck back last night hard and had to take a sleep aid last night. Natural Calm is a good product, and I've been using it, but some reason I could not stop the racing thoughts last night. But today... I think I have tasted the first drop of TIGER BLOOD. I woke and did 40 minutes of fairly intense cardio AND walked about 4 miles downtown doing errands. And I feel like I could do it all over again, but I'm really hungry and the sous vide can't go quick enough. I have a half pound of salmon in there waiting for me Or I should say I'm waiting on it!! Hope all are well, for me 10 days down. Stay strong!!

@Lauraloveskale great job powering through! Yes, I have felt a bit weaker but exercise is essential. Even if it means you need to dial it down a couple notches. Not like I was exercising before I started the 30 LOL, but I am now. Mostly just the exercise bike and dynamic resistance yoga, but it is a start. I had a long list of lifestyle changes I wanted to tackle during the whole 30. Stay strong!

Welcome @Amb_Bomer, I too started on the 17th. It is your science experiment, try going without the La Croix tomorrow and see if the headache goes away maybe?

@Lauraloveskale yes, La Croix is A OK but to be clear... if it is a soda substitute, be careful.

@CorgiLover I think I'll take your idea and run with it... frost some pint glasses and have a nice cold glass of sparking water after work you're right, a lot of our bad habits are just rituals. Replace the bad items with good, keep the ritual. Seems wise to me, thanks!

Thanks for the link @dmrob2009, but I'm either gonna ride it out or give myself a spray or two as needed. More days go by without smoking, the better it feels

@Mike5858 Oh not at all! This is a personal science experiment for each and every one of us. We are all the same and different, as well. I have no cravings for cookies or cake, like others. This process is about discipline and behavior modification. It's not like I was spraying my throat for a sugar rush As a science-minded person though, I understand the importance of total abstaining from certain chemicals through the 30 days to truly reset physiology. But that is only part of the experiment. Why do we eat food? It is a mental shift as it truly is for energy. Thanks for the support, but no way I'm gonna let that spray get in my way!

Hey all, 9th day for me. Last night was rough In college (decades ago), I tried to become a vegan. I was doing great, eating lots of whole foods and getting proteins from rice and beans and lots of tofu. Then one day, I popped an Altoid in my mouth and decided to check the ingredients. WAH?? Altoids have gelatin (animal product). It was on of those, "is this worth it" moments. I enjoyed that minty moment and decided, no. Gradually gave up my vegan goal. Last night, I had another one of those moments. I've been good, really good. Geez, I just ate curried ground beef with veggies for BREAKFAST! But I'm also in the process of quitting weed smoking (live in WA). My throat has been sore, so I have been using some chloraseptic spray to dull the sore throat I've been having... And there it was in the inactive ingredients, sucralose! Dang it! It IS worth it. Not giving up this time. Stay strong!
