    @CorgiLover i love your vent! Ithe first time I even heard about whole30 it had a life changing effect on me. Just knowing I’m a sugar addict is enough to help me control it now. So it’s been a year and I know I don’t ever want it to control me like that again. Happy day 12!

    Good morning everyone.  This is day 11 for me, and I feel very good about it all.  I hope nobody minds if I vent a bit (it's all good) because I don't have anyone else to tell about this and my dog seems uninterested.  I came to this after many years of frustration.  When I was younger (I'm 58) I was active, traveled, did what I wanted, wore what I liked, all that.  Then I started a long spell of working night shifts (people working at night eat, a lot, and often go out to breakfast after at places like Denny's and Bob Evans...)  I also had several pretty bad injuries over the past 10-12 years, ultimately ending in one major shoulder surgery, two hip replacements (not at same time), another shoulder injury I've decided to leave as is, and extended therapy, multiple surgical procedures, steroids, pain, poor sleep, all that.  I'm finally fixed, and pain free, but left with a lot of extra weight and very sedentary habits.  I started working at strength with a trainer a few months ago, getting balance back, but despite my careful eating I have not lost a pound.  He and I are both annoyed!  I love to cook, and that has been an outlet for me, plus the wine that accompanied good food and "relaxation" has interrupted my sleep even further.  I came to this in a desperate attempt to change myself.  
    In the last 10 days, I have had no problem giving up the sugar (no sweet tooth), or the gluten (my mom has celiac disease x decades so I'm used to it), but the cheese/yogurt and wine were an issue.  I'm not missing them, because I feel so good and I am sleeping probably better than I ever have.  I'm not trying to gloat, I had some headachy tired days at first.  I don't feel Tiger Blood, but I think I felt so bad that maybe now I'm feeling normal and it is something I'd forgotten.  Today is my day off, I normally would be parked in front of the tv/computer and thinking about going back to bed, but I'm cleaning out my pantry instead.  There is a church near me that runs a food kitchen, and I'm going to offer them anything they can use that I'm not going to eat again.  I'm also going to start gathering things for the holiday food drives that will happen soon.  I've already made the decision that this is something I will continue.  I can't say I will never have wheat/sugar/alcohol/diary again, but I will limit as I've seen how much a difference this "simple" change has made.  I hope it's okay for me to vent, but although this has been bouncing around in my head for a few days, it doesn't seem real until I say it "out loud."  So.  On to the middle third!  Have a good weekend.

    @Svmomma @Tj V @Mike5858 @dmrob2009 Hi all, day 4 I feel better even though I slept horrible. I have to stop drinking water at night! I wouldn't worry about the bacon you have eaten...but going forward maybe just don't have until 30 days are over....the compliant bacon is out there...but so expensive. Trader Joe's has unfurled bits and pieces that says it has sugar but 0 grams of sugar...after 30 days try that ...you will love it! Have a great day....everyone!

    @Tj V thanks...I had pork for dinner and for lunch...I'm thinking that's the headache and I'm nauseous. Having chicken...no more pork...lol is it hot in Indiana?

    Hi everyone...3rd day....haven't had any cravings...but just got a headache...I'm thinking I'm not drinking enough water...but glad I'm back to being strict on whole 30...tonite I'm making those delicate squash chips....roasted in oven with olive oil...been waiting for this winter squash to hit Trader Joe's....will let you know if it's as amazing as I'v dreamt...lol.

    Sounds like you did great...came home from work starving ...my husband made ribs...had salad and half a sweet potatoe..and I'm eating an apple...I'm done for the night! I already feel great! Ready for day 3 too!

    Just now joining, but also started yesterday for my first time. After never having heard about Whole30, I listened to a podcast interview of Melissa's story on Saturday about her goals not being weight loss but our relationship to food, plus all the reduction of inflammatory results, I jumped in on Sunday with meal planninng.  Now reading the book and its confirming what I feared I was doing the last handful of years to sabotash all my working out, slowly feeling worse and worse, and worried about serious issues that might come my way. 
    Main thing I've noticed so far has been how full I am.  Is the goal not to snack? As an athlete it goes against my grain not to have smaller meals throughout the day, but I'm going with it and just now getting schooled on all the theories.  Also is tea or coffee in the evening just a replacement for what I may have had in the past (wine or dessert, or wine then dessert LOL)?
    p.s. Picked a profile pic that I normally cringe at when I see pictures of myself these days. I've slowly gained as much as 20-25 pounds in the last 8-10 years.  Would just like to see myself refreshed and not so puffy at the end of these 30 days!

We can do this!  Woke up a little hungry, and still feeling a little hungry and foggy after breakfast.  Walked into the faculty room and there on the table was a box of donut holes...just calling my name.  But I walked right past.  I was going to go back -- but then I came on here, and realized that I am not alone!  Gonna persevere through whatever I go through these next few days, so that I can feel good like @AthenaC mentioned.  Hang tough through the headaches, the fatigue, the sniffles, the cravings, etc. everyone -- WE CAN DO THIS!!!!  "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step"...

    Got through Day 2.  I had a big lunch, so dinner was actually pretty small, just some grilled chicken and a salad.  I'm really quite full from today, but I think a little of it has to do with the 95 degree weather, that always makes me sluggish.  Looking forward to tomorrow!

    It contain raw cashews , 1 date, raw cocao, coconut ... that's it. But in lieu of what you said...I will refrain for 30 days...to be totally compliant! Thanks for keeping me on the straight and narrow....

    I ...I mean my husband cooks with a little avacado oil ...onions and mushrooms just a few and an egg or two... then I have some kind of fruit...and maybe a slice of avacado...I don't eat a lot of veggies in morning...I can't stomach it...I didn't think it was mandatory to have veggies...but if you like them...great. i have something that I did almost everyday of whole 30.. raw brownie bites...so satisfies craving after dinner...I ate it immediately after dinner ...so technically couldn't call it snacking...and literally the act of making them satisfies me...if anyone is interested let me know ..I don't want to post something that would be wrong.

    My breakfasts are either eggs scrambled with veggies or sausage & veggie hash. I purposely roast extra veggies in the evenings so I have leftovers for mornings and lunches. 
    Last night I made a Chicken Lime Avocado Soup that was great with some raw veggies on the side.  Tonight we're doing Burrito Bowls.  Tomorrow it's Pumpkin Soup.  I'm trying to get in Bone Broth everyday and I don't like it by itself so I'll be making a lot of soups this go 'round. Plus leftover soup is so easy to heat up for lunch.  
    I like salad but get tired of them easily so I do sometimes struggle to get enough leafy greens, but I try to add spinach and kale whenever I can to help that.

    Guess maybe I need to work harder on veggies at breakfast.  I do add spinach, peppers, and onions to my eggs, but there's not a ton of them, maybe a handful.  One step at a time I guess, as long as it's compliant.  I didn't feel hungry at all yesterday, that's for sure.

    @Tj V I don't eat fish either..unless it's a BBQ salmon steak...so you don't have to eat fish...after work tonite I will give some recipes I've had over the last year...you will love them!
