I have been talking to a member of the gym about this the whole month. Every time I see her she asks me what day it is and how I feel. "Day 19! Feeling amazing!"
The other day she tells me she is starting a medical obesity program where she has been advised to consume 800-900 calories per day and is on an appetite suppressant...... Am I speaking Swahili?! Have you heard a WORD I have said? No, guess not.

I was watching a video from Fox posted on Clothes Make the Girl. The $%^ dietician is going on and on about how a diet with no carbs is unhealthy, nutrient deficient, blah blah blah. AS she's talking about how extremely low-carb paleo is the camera is zooming in on this big veggie plate, a bowl of nuts and fruit and Well Fed's Paleo pad thai.... I'm like, woman, if you are going to go on national TV and bad mouth something, at least do a little cursory research. Just a little.
PS- If you are in a Kill-All-the-Things day, do NOT watch that video!

The funny part is even by the most conservative weight watcher, low-fat, myplate standards the ghee is the only thing that might be controversial. Ha! Oh loved ones.

The other day on Facebook a girl I know posted a photo of her daughter playing (maybe 4 or so) and this was the caption: "Vivi and I were playing shop and I said should I get the cupcake? She said I don't know mom I think its 4 points." She and all these people commenting thought it was the cutest thing while I was absolutely horrified. I actually feel bad for the mother because she thinks she's teaching her about healthy eating habits. And to be fair, all I know is the one comment but still. I hope my kids don't know about weight watchers at 4.

"That's ridiculous. I'm going to eat what I want and actually ENJOY my life, thanks."
That's your choice. I'm going to enjoy all the foods I eat with actual taste, my elevated energy levels, my mental clarity, and my lack of doctor's bills!

Ha! I'm sure there is so much avocado in those chips.
On a positive note. I have a friend who recently read wheat Belly so is off the wheat but constantly asking me about Whole30. Last night, she had plans for what to make for dinner but instead said "hey! why don't you come over and we'll make something from Clothes Make the Girl." Such a refreshing exchange.

I love that story! My background is in dance and so sometimes I play creative movement games with my nephews. Once their father came out and just laughed at me saying "what crazy things are you making my son do?" but we have a great time. Last time I was in my hometown, the 5 year old wanted to workout with me in the backyard. We did box jumps, lunges, squats, push ups, frog jumps, sprints. Everything. And when i was tired, he said "do we have to stop?" It's so awesome to see and reminded me of how joyful every movement can be. We should always workout like children.

You play the 'Nope' 'Nope' 'Nope' 'Yep' 'Nope' game while the person in front of you is putting their groceries on the belt, and calculate that if you removed all the non-food, their bill would be $16.

LOL Just found this thread - so funny!

You know you've been W30 for awhile when you accidentally eat something non-compliant and immediately spit it out because you can taste the bad ingredient in question.  I purchased a different brand of liver sausage and didn't check the label carefully (shameful, I know  ).  One bite and I could taste the sugar.  So gross!

They can clarify butter, make bone broth, make mayo, make chili, portion clean and prep fruits and vegetables in one afternoon and still have energy to CrossFit!

    Thank you for this!
They have this conversation with the TJ's cashier (and this was yesterday)
    Me: do you have Larabars?
Cashier: yes, many kinds. Do you want me to hold your place in line while you run over?
Me: No. Thank you but I can't have them right now.
Cashier: but they're just fruit and nuts
Me: I know, but I have an unhealthy psychological relationship with them. They feel like dessert.
Cashier: but they're just fruit and nuts

Their freezer is full of picked-clean chicken carcasses waiting to be made into bone broth.
I was going to take a picture of this but actually it's kind of gross. It's like Eraserhead 2 up in there.

    This is an awesome thread!
-- they know what carageen, soy lecithin, kohlrabi, and chard are
-- they don't complain about feeling bloated or lethargic
-- they are really disappointed when spaghetti squash is out of season and thrilled when strawberries come into season
-- they find themself standing in front of the refrigerator saying "man I wish I had a cauliflower!"
-- an egg is warming on their counter because they are going to make mayo

I had a well-meaning, if misguided acquaintance give me some "sage" advice on dieting, when she heard me telling someone which foods I'm avoiding..
"It's all about calories in, versus calories out," she said. "If you want to lose weight, you have to make sure you burn more than you take in. That's it. That's the secret. Doesn't matter what you eat."
She looked at me like I had two heads when I replied that weight-loss wasn't my goal.
"Then why deny yourself?" she asked, obviously taken aback. I explained that I'm trying to heal my stomach, which is my focus for this W30. She looked puzzled. Then shrugged, obviously concluding that this answer was a ruse to cover my true motives, and replied, "Just remember, calories in versus calories out."

    Seen today at a cafe:
    SUGAR-FREE Healthy Cookie
Ingredients: sesame seed, sunflower, pumpkin seed, tahini, brown sugar, maple, egg white.
Ok, I applaud your effort, but guys "brown sugar"..... is sugar. As is the maple syrup (I'm assuming thats what they meant.)

I get this one a lot. I usually just say something to the effect of, I have to get up and have a good breakfast or I feel tired all day. I've worked out a system that really adds very little added time to my morning prep but makes me feel a million times better. Usually they just kind of nod with a look in their eyes that says they recognize that idea of feeling tired all day and maybe it's not such a bad idea. Then they go back to their bagel.
