Hey everyone - less than 34 hours to the end! No shame in admitting my first intro is going to be a glass of very good wine.  After that, haven't really been missing bread or dairy.  I'm a little afraid to add grain, especially wheat since I think it just saps the energy out of me.  I notice my energy levels are pretty even throughout the day, and ready to go to sleep at an appropriate time at night. I don't want to mess with that!  Enjoy the last few hours, this phase of W30 will be over before you know it!

Tiff, applause for trying some nonalc ideas. Another idea is to try shrubs - a few weeks ago I purchased a key lime balsamic vinegar (kind of like a shrub) and the gal at the store (it's a specialty olive oil/vinegar shop) and she mentioned it was delightful in a sparkling water  - tasted a bit like seven-up!  And it did, w/o the sugar!
I've dived right back into true drinking - but in moderation. Tonight we made margaritas but I used Swerve.
The husband and I are in a groove not needing breads, dairy....but we are going to have vegetarian enchiladas (with grain free home made tortillas), no cheese, but trying pinto beans to reintroduce some legumes.  Adding the cauliflower mexi-rice...
Really encouraged with this last W30 - today at the doctor's office, my BP was completely normal...also, I think I might have mentioned I've lost 11 lbs. I feel like I really really can't go back to 11 lbs more and super motivated to keep it that way.
Best of luck to everyone and the continuing journey

@MizRik sounds good, waiting on the reintro!
    @MaddMac sounds like a good Day 31!
@Aliem999i hope you get to feeling better. flu or Covid or unknown?

I tried another nonalcoholic drink tonight, with some sugar. Either the sugar or the natural flavors are causing a weird sensation in my mouth and tongue. I sometimes have citrus/orange allergies, so I suspect that is the culprit. I was kind of hoping that had gone away. Oh well!
Otherwise still on-plan. Felt the urge to go get a bagel and cream cheese. Didn't.

It will be a Whole 33 for me since I want a drink on Friday night  and Saturday I have a small family gathering. But I will try not to introduce any gluten free snacks, grains or added sugar for as long as possible. I’m missing my almond flour crackers, they are grain free  but I eat them like potato chips!  Just placed an order for some more compliant dressings, sauces and ketchup (Primal Kitchen brand). Feeling slimmer and really need to keep that going. I shoveled snow yesterday for a few hours so I made up for not exercising all month!  Cheers to us - we made it!

I have not weighed myself but I know I have dropped a size. Where I couldn't wear my size 28 jeans very well before...they are actually baggy on me.

Hope everyone is doing well! I think most of us are within a week of finishing! Any NSVs?
I feel lots of energy and definitely have lost weight. Fitting in dresses that I have not fit in for a long time! Eating so many veggies and my nails already feel stronger!

I’m counting the days until I can have a glass of wine! Luckily, I just received my order of the Whole30 approved Humm Kombucha! It’s delicious and feels like I’m drinking hard seltzer. I’m feeling pretty good, I’ve been very busy at work but feel more energetic and getting up easier at 4:30am. Not as exhausted after a long commute. I did better this W30 with less nuts overall, but the past week I’ve been eating a lot of nuts and ignoring portuon control.  The one thing I have not done all month is exercise - at all. No weights or my cardio boxing videos. I really haven’t had any cravings - just missing the weekend booze. And now we are getting more snow!
Give yourself  some grace @Rebecca001 we are still in the middle of a pandemic and doing the best we can! Winter is always tough with the colder and darker days.

Made a Whole30 Fish Taco Bowl tonight - store had wild fresh cod on sale, and I had a big bunch of cilantro at home so was able to use a lot of that. Bought the Paleo Kitchen Chipotle Mayo and thinned it out to make that necessary "crema" to go on the fish. It was really good! Very satisfying and helped us with our current state of "we no longer care" lol

@MizRik Well, personally I would move on, and stop using sugar cough drops, and just stick with the current Whole30. If it works for your life, it might not be a bad idea to extend the Whole30 an extra week or so, since illness and the medicines both mess with your body pretty thoroughly. So, I'd pad it with extra W30 time before reintroducing foods, just so things are really clean & clear. After all this work, may as well make sure you're getting solid info from the reintroduction phase.
Unless, like me, you're not really doing this W30 for the information to be gleaned during reintroduction. I'm just doing this to feel better for a while. I already know my body would rather not have grains and legumes and sugar! So for me, the reintro phase isn't going to to be super important.

This is my opinion so hopefully heads don't explode. I say don't start over. If you have been stellar everywhere else within the recommended plan, other than treating your body for an illness, why start over? I just had surgery on Tuesday, under anesthesia and all sorts of drugs but I am not starting over.  But that's my opinion and I think the general consensus is to use your best judgement. It's not like you sneaked a chocolate chip cookie or two and then pondering whether or not to start over (in that case I would say YES!)

So last night I dreamt I went off plan and had a couple of glasses of red wine - in the dream I thought we had passed day 30 but then I said to my husband - "wait! We are only on Day 28"!  LOL

To me, tater tots are just hash browns put into little shapes so not sure why it wouldn't be compliant. However, the store bought ones typically have non compliant things in them.  But Tiffy - you can have "fries", just not in the style of fast food fries. You need to cut them  yourself and make them homemade (baked in the oven). I tend to do that with rutabaga or sweet potato "fries".  I just follow the recipes in the Whole30 cookbook and go from there.

Note: Just a report, not really a complaint or call for help
Today is Day 13 for us.  I'm finding that I am not that hungry and don't really care about food. I woke this morning and wanted my coffee (with Califia almond milk and ff coconut milk). I started cooking up some applegate sausage and warming up potatoes and brussels sprouts from last night's dinner - however I am just not very hungry! Last night we cooked a lovely fresh king salmon with a creamy artichoke heart/herb sauce, plus medley of roasted potatoes, brussels sprouts and carrots. I could finish the salmon but only half the rest.
Maybe that's a good thing.  I remember eating all my pasta and then going back for more in the past - now I am fully satiated without finishing my plate and no desire for sweets. Would be curious if anyone else is feeling similar?

My husband doesn't like eating eggs everyday (he's doing W30 as well) so I found this recipe called "Butternut Breakfast Meatballs" available here:  https://realsimplegood.com/butternut-breakfast-meatballs/.
My husband likes them and they are a fairly easy make ahead thing.

Hi Tiffysquid, thanks for the feedback. My use of the term "breading" is confusing, admittedly.  I was really referring to a "coating" for fish, poultry that can be used when baking or sautéing. Under the Whole30 rules, using almond, cassava, coconut flours etc are compliant within the context of cooking a protein - but not for the purpose of recreating "baked goods or treats".
I just used the term "breading" as a catch-all for any whole30 compliant coating.  You can refer to the Whole30 program rules somewhere on this site for more on this.
The Suzanne Somers "breading" for fish is simply a mixture of dried herbs - no bread or grain use. I would consider coating fish in dried herbs and sauteeing compliant in W30.

I just made the chicken stroganoff from this site last Saturday - a little time consuming with the prep (aren't they all!) but really satisfying.

I will check out the other threads where you post your menu- I love fish and chips. Suzanne Somers had a book out about 20 years ago where she had a clever way to create a paleo "breading" to make fish and chips. I'll have to dig that up again. I think it might be compliant here as it is okay to use herbs and spices to create a breading.
Last night's dinner was Chicken Stroganoff on leftover celery root/mashed potatoes with a spinach/power green salad, roasted butternut squash, red onion and pecans. Created a whole30 mayo based "creamy balsamic dressing"  Really good.
Last note: You are from Wales! Half my ancestry is from Wales -  it's a bucket list country for me for sure.
