    Awe!!!!  Thanks guys!
Let me tell you.  Yesterday, the struggle was real!  I wanted to eat “all the things” all day long!  I was so surprised.  I have done very well and day 29 kicked my butt. I survived, but it was the toughest day on Whole30 by far!
I guess Whole30 had to give me one last lesson in cravings and trigger foods.  I ended up going for a long walk that evening.  It seemed to do the trick of curbing my appetite.
Today is packed with things to do, so I’m feeling confident that I will finish strong. I won’t have time to think about doing otherwise.
I will check in tomorrow morning with how my last day went.
Thanks again guys for being such wonderful cheerleaders!  It has meant so much!

Day 16.  Its my daughter’s birthday today!  She turned 6.
I’m proud to say I delivered cupcakes to her school and didn’t gobble one down in the car on the way.  I did leave a note to not return leftovers, haha!
She wanted ice cream cake for her family party.  I sliced it, served it and got it on my fingers and didn’t even really desire to cheat.  I was pretty surprised, really.
Today was supposed to be the onset of what they call tiger blood in the book.  For whatever reason though, I’ve been super tired and have had a larger appetite.  I did a lot of taste testing while cooking dinner.  I have PCOS so my hormones fluctuate a lot.  I truly don’t think how I feel today has anything to do with the food I’m eating or not eating.  I think I’ll always have hormone and mood fluctuations.
I have recognized that I often feed my feelings of fatigue comfort foods and carbs and sugar.   I can tell my body wants to know what’s up, but I haven’t craved anything much, except for a coke.   I did think about that a few times today.
Breakfast was 2 fried eggs, sausage and cantaloupe.
Lunch:  Leftover pork steak, mashed potatoes and spinach with a clementine.
Dinner:  Chicken coated in almond flour and pan fried.  Kale chips.  Mashed sweet potatoes and fruit salad.

I just discovered cauliflower rice and my whole family LOVES it!  I’ve known about it for a while but had no idea how good it was.
Day 13 is behind me!  Went to Whole Foods this morning   Got primal green goddess dressing.  My husband basically covered his dinner with it and almost drained the bottle.  It’s been a while since he has had dressing.  When I told him it cost 7 bucks  he did a double take.    He just said, “buy more”.  Poor guy, I put him through so much and he just goes along with my hair-brained ideas and never complains.
Im feeling a lot better, though admittedly very ready to add food groups back to my diet.  The last couple of days have been very difficult mentally.  I loved MimiHi’s running metaphor.  It helped a lot!
    Today I ate:
Breakfast:  Mixed fruit with pecans, sunflower seeds, and raisins.  I poured coconut milk over it and ate it like cereal.  Pretty good, but got hungry a couple of hours later.
Snack:  Two slices of leftover pork tenderloin.
Lunch:  Applegate hot dog with leftover potatoes, raw veggies with green goddess dressing and orange slices.
Dinner:  Baked Chicken breast with cauliflower fried rice, green beans and bananas with almond butter drizzled on top.

    I’m on Day 29 today!
Out of all the non scale victories, the pride of finishing something I’ve started outweighs them all!

    Day 26!
    Feeling good.  Finishing strong!
Yesterday, my brother-in-law brought us an Italian Cream cake.  My husband and kids almost stopped him from doing it.  You should have seen them looking at me and looking at him.  I think they were afraid it would cause me to slip up.  They were so sweet to run interference for me.  They are the best cheerleaders and are excited for me to reach the finish line.
Of course I told them to eat the cake and enjoy!  I don’t crave it anymore.  Why?  Because Whole30 works!  Sugar Dragon?  That bad boy is tamed!

    Day 23 today!
Yesterday, I finally convinced myself to go for a walk after dinner.  Besides buzzing around the house to keep it clean, I don’t exercise.  At work, I’m behind a computer all day, so I know I have to change things for long term success.
It’s still cold here.  It gets dark early and there are patches of snow lingering around, but I zipped up my coat, put in my earbuds and headed out.
I was absolutely floored how much I enjoyed walking.  The air was crisp and cold and smelled like snow.  The lights from homes and driveways made the neighborhood look like a lit up ceramic village.  The music in my ears made it feel like I had my own personal theme music for life.  It was great.
Finally!  I figured out what this tiger blood might be all about!  I’ve walked our neighborhood before and I felt tired and stiff after the second lap or so.  But, last night... I was relaxed.  I didn’t feel stiff or uncomfortable.  I was able to focus on enjoying my surroundings instead of my aching feet and knees.  After the second lap, I wasn’t ready to go inside!  I kept going and ended up walking for 45 minutes.
I don’t think I noticed “tiger blood” because I haven’t been able to compare how I feel now with how I felt before.  I guess the improvements are gradual enough that I didn’t notice just how significant it really is.
    So, good day yesterday.
Today we are having our long monthly Quality Assurance meeting at work.  We always order pizza or Subway for lunch.  I used to worry and worry about how I would resist the QA lunch on Whole30.  But I’m not worried at all.  My cravings are totally in control which feels unbelievably wonderful!
I have noticed something rather peculiar at work.  My co-workers keep talking  about donuts, cookies and cheese of all things.  What’s the deal!?  It’s starting to feel like one of those dreams on Whole30 where you accidentally cheat, like listening to the chatter about forbidden food is bad too!   I swear they are trying to get me to break down and declare that I can’t take Whole30 anymore.
See?  I’m paranoid and leaning towards the other side of an unhealthy relationship with food.  Whole30 can flip a weird switch if your not careful with it.  For sure.

Hehe!  Day 21 today!  I’m so happy.    I have no doubt I’ll reach day 30 now.
Really, though.  I am not the type of person who finishes what she starts.  Half crocheted blanket in closet?  Check. Gratitude journal with 2 1/2 entrees?  Check.  Savings account with $8 bucks? Check.  Couch to 5k running plan?  Hahahaha!
My best intentions for enhanced well-being and happiness get put on the back burner, forgotten and neglected every single time.  I’m a Mom and a business owner.  I juggle so much, and stay very busy.  So many times, when set on a journey to accomplish a personal goal, I let myself become sidetracked by the difficult things that inevitably arise or the overwhelming tasks at hand. By sidetracked, I mean abandon all efforts, jump ship, and eat. eat. eat.
Whole30 has taught me that you can make time for things that matter.  I have never cooked and done so many dishes in my life!  But I made time.
Setting time limits on goals is critical.
I shouldn’t put my personal goals on the chopping block when things get tough.  Sometimes it’s warranted, but in most cases, difficulties are used as an excuse to give up.  It doesn’t hurt anyone but me.
I have a taste of what the finish line is going to feel like and I think it might be addicting.  @MimiHi I keep thinking of your marathon analogy.  I’ve never crossed a literal finish line, but I’m thinking it must feel so good!
I am so excited and looking forward to finishing strong!
    Yesterday, I had:
Egg, sweet potato hash and grapefruit for breakfast.
Leftover Chicken, Baked Potato and veggies for lunch.
    Cobb salad for dinner.
    Orange for snack.

I'm a longtime user of WW (first time around I lost 30lbs!.... and then gained it all back).
Congrats on making that commitment to the program! I'm still a member of WW but I decided to take the time off of going and weighing in and tracking while I'm on my Whole 30 journey (I'm a lazy WW person too... I hadn't been active most of Nov/Dec and its showed in my weight gain).
WW does a lot of things right, which I think is why it's so successful. While it allows for foods we don't have on Whole 30 it holds you accountable with the tracking and point system (my favorite thing about WW is one glass of wine = 4 points and 2 glasses are 7 points... ok, maybe it just enables me to drink more haha).
My WW mind is wondering what kind of point intake I'm doing... but, honestly, I feel less bloated then I have been and I'm only six days in. I'm not sure how that translates to a scale, but less bloat = comfier fitting clothes  I plan on going back to WW once my first round is over with Whole 30. I can't wait to hear how you're doing!

Hahaha!  Yes she did!  Great news, too.  The sweet girl got a new home tonight.  She went to a friend's house to be her 13 year old brother's dog.  He was soooo excited when they came to get her and he named her Hyper.  They fell in love with her the minute they saw her picture and came to get her at 9:30 because they didn't want to wait until tomorrow.  I'm so happy, but teared up letting her go.  They live about 15 minutes away so we'll be able to see her.
Here's how the rest of Day 13 went:
B:  beef taco meet on jicama tortillas, coffee with coconut oil.
L:  jalapeno beef sausage with sauerkraut, red pepper slices, almond milk with chia seeds and cinnamon (I've never had this before and I like it).
D:  sauteed chicken with kalamata olives over broccoli and cauliflower.
    Fiber:  20

What?!? Happy Happy 6th Birthday!!! Ohhh!! I absolutely adore that age. Doesn't the time go by so fast?? Do they do anything special at school? Obviously getting cupcakes is a big score for the kids! But does her class have any special traditions for birthdays? Either way, What a special day!
Can we please discuss your discipline? Holy cow, Cavemom. Well done. If there's ever an excuse to lick ones fingers, you had it today, so this goes down in the record books for pure win of the day!
I'll be very curious if your PCOS symptoms improve at all? Wouldn't that be fantastic?
You're really doing great, Cavemom. Day 16 is in the record books!

I’m having trouble posting on my other thread.  Others are able to reply, but I can’t seem to get it to take, so I’ll try it here.
Yesterday was Day 10!  I wish I could say I felt great, but I was extremely tired, due to hormonal issues I’m sure.  I also kept wondering why I was doing this to myself.  I could be on another diet that is way less restrictive.
I had to remind myself that other diets have worked for me in the past to lose weight, but hey didn’t teach me anything about my relationship with food.  Otherwise I wouldn’t keep gaining the weight back.  Other diets did not reveal possible sensitivities to food groups or help me kick my sugar addiction.
So, I’m determined to stick with this and I’m trusting the Whole30 timeline that these feelings will pass.
    Yesterday I ate:
Breakfast:  Sweet Potato Toast with Almond Butter, Banana, Pecans, and Cinnamon.  Deviled Eggs.  Coffee and Nutpods.
Lunch:  Outback Steakhouse:  6oz sirloin, sweet potato with cinnamon only, steamed broccoli.  Told them to hold butter, soy products and any spices with sugar.  They were very accommodating and the meal was great!
Dinner:  Was really full all evening from the meal at Outback.  Had a saucer sized plate of slow cooked beef ribs, potato and carrots.  Apple slices.
    Snack:  Frozen grapes.

So glad you are on the forum DrawMonkey!  This is a wonderful place for support and encouragement.
Eating out was not as bad as I thought it would be.  The first time I ate out was a local Italian restaurant.  It was my sister-in-law’s birthday.  Since it was local, we were able to speak to the owner/chef directly and he customized our meal.  I think he enjoyed the challenge.
The next time was at Outback.  They use fresh food, which I like, but they put butter on everything so you have to be sure to tell them to hold it.  I think they were one of the first restaurants to go gluten free, and our server wasn’t phased at all by our requests.
I try not to snack unless I can’t get to my next meal on time.  I make a point not to snack after dinner because it would reinforce old snacking habits.
You’ll be on Day 4?  The early days can be a challenge, but just stick with it.  My experience has been that it gets a lot easier with time.  You can do it!

@Cavemom Wow, I've been reading over your posts the last few days (I'm on Day 3) and I'm really inspired by how you're eating. I saw you ate at Outback a few days ago and had a great (and compliant) dinner.

Do you only allow snacking when you feel you need it?
Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing your posts!

I’m half way!!!  I feel so good about Day 15!  I really can’t believe I’ve been doing this diet.  I’ve lost weight in the past by counting calories, but I would starve myself through the day, just so I could “afford” a dessert at the end of the day.  It was such an unhealthy relationship with food and this plan has changed that in me.  I’m unbelievably proud of myself and everyone here!  We are awesome!
So, my in-laws moved into our in-law suite a couple of weeks ago.  I think I was on Day 2 or 3 when they moved in.  My husband has been sending dinner plates over to them most evenings.  Today, my Mother-in-Law said she had lost 3 pounds and the only thing she has changed are the dinners we make!  I thought that was pretty neat!
Being back at work has helped to take my mind off food so much.  Whole30 seems to be getting easier in terms of planning and prepping.  Going to the grocery is a lot less stressful now that I know what to get.  It’s starting to feel like a normal way of living.
I don’t know what “tiger blood” is supposed to feel like, but according  to the Whole30 timeline, it arrives on Day 16.  Curious what that’s all about.  I’ll let you know tomorrow if I start roaring, lol!
Today I had coconut milk over mixed fruit, almonds and raisins for breakfast.  Coffee and nutpods.
Lunch was a leftover hamburger patty with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles and mayo.  Carrots with ranch and a clementine.
Dinner was Boston butt steak with mashed potatoes, asparagus and spinach stir fry and melon balls.
