    I think this is where we all are. Brent Fikowski is a CrossFit superstar and said the following in a recent interview: “You’ve got to find substitutes that you still enjoy. Don’t try and go straight into just, rice, chicken, and broccoli. Find a few things you eat that need replacing. It’s all about building good habits. Instead of eating breaded chicken fingers, I buy chicken breast and find a way that I like to cook them that makes me feel just as good. It shouldn’t feel like a sacrifice. It needs to become a habit, a lifestyle. The same is true with exercise. I love CrossFit. But if you love the water and you love swimming, then find a routine and a group of people and swim. If exercise becomes a chore, it won’t become a part of your lifestyle....You want to be happy! The reason I eat this way is because it makes me feel good, and when I feel good, I train good, and when I drink good, I’m happier. People ask, “Don’t you miss ice cream and beer?” Well, yeah! But then I would feel awful. “

    Ladyshanny, so sorry, but I did read the moderator’s response. It doesn’t seem to have answered my question. Or am I reading it incorrectly? Never mind. I WAS reading it incorrectly.

    It’s much better in a pot on the stove rather than in a crockpot. I’ve made it both ways.

    Red #40 & Yellow #6

    I’m hoping a moderator will pick this one up. I’ve tried searching “Can I have___” but no luck. Some of the products I’d like to purchase have Yellow #6 and Red #40. I leave them on the shelf. Are they acceptable on Whole30?

    @Doodlejo, Arrowroot is compliant.

    I’m making chili again today, but I’m adding more veggies to it and adding a tablespoon of cayenne. The first pot was pretty mild. I have lamb shoulder chops defrosting. I’ll be braising them this afternoon. I think Italian. Today is full of basketball games with the grandkids, so I watch a game, rush home and get something cooking, rush out to a game and repeat! I think I feel better. Less bloated. I didn’t weigh before I started this, so I wouldn’t know if I’ve actually lost any weight. I definitely need to, but I think I’ll just focus on eating better, then go on to portion control after the 30 days. Last week, I threw a prepped meal in the freezer. So glad I did because there wouldn’t have been much for lunch today. Roasted pork chop, sweet potato with ghee, green beans and an apple. I have Achilles tendinitis in my left foot, so I haven’t been able to get in as much walking as I would like. Once that is taken care of, I should be able to get on track!

    Went to Trader Joe’s last night and bought more meat and some harissa. Stopped by Walmart on the way home tonight and picked up some Classico Tomato & Basil sauce. I made a lazy man’s shakshuka for dinner tonight. Paired it with a green salad dressed with fresh lime and olive oil. Very yummy!

    I’m 60 (Ohmygoodness! When did that happen?). I usually sleep through the night unless I’ve been drinking iced tea later than I should. But I can usually get back to sleep almost immediately.

    That sounds good! I have some kale I need to use. I’ll sub that for the spinach.

    Red #40 & Yellow #6

    Hi All. I see products that are for sure compliant until I get to the very last of the ingredients. Then it says yellow #6 and red #40. I’ve done a search and can’t find if these are acceptable. I’m avoiding these products until I hear from you. TIA!

    I cooked a handful of baby red potatoes and onions and jalapeños last night to pair with a lamb chop and cabbage and squash. The veggies were awesome, but I let the coconut oil get too hot with the lamb and the taste was not pleasant. Edible, but I’ll be more careful next time. I thought it had a high heat tolerance. Nope. Also threw in some avocado. I’m having leftover cauliflower chicken fried rice for lunch today. It is pretty good. I didn’t take anything out of the freezer for tonight, so eggs are on the menu.

    I ate lunch about 11:00 today. Mel Joulwan’s Chocolate Chili, avocado and jalapeños, sweet potato with ghee, green beans. I had to force myself to eat dinner at 8:00. That was odd. I wasn’t hungry, but I knew I had to eat. Yesterday I went back to Sprouts and bought more meat that was on sale and came home and re-packaged it in recipe-size bags. Made Chocolate Chili. Today, I cooked a sheet pan meal with chicken, cabbage and squash. I also cooked a huge sweet potato that I quartered. I bought lamb chops that I plan to braise. Shopping and prepping use up most of the weekend. I’ll be glad to go back to work Monday so I can get some rest, lol!

    I went to Sprouts after work and got lots of good-for-me food at sale prices! I found coconut aminos. Bought compliant bacon and forgot to cook it before I cooked my eggs for dinner. I made an awesome scramble with leftover veggies. I bought A lamb chop. It was their last one. I’m going back for more tomorrow. They were also out of top sirloin. I figured I’d stock up on meat while it was on sale. I also watched Food, Inc. Mel Joulwan, Well Fed, suggested it. It makes me feel better about how much I spent on organics. Now to make time to cook this weekend. Lots of basketball games with grandkids.

    Actually, the headache has been very minor, not even bad enough to need ibuprofen. The last time I tried to quit coffee, I could hardly move, the pain in my head was so bad.
