    January 2nd Starter's Reintro thread

How was everyone's weekend? We got a foot of snow and some sleet on top of that! I won't complain about the snow though, I absolutely love it! I decided to try a new recipe this weekend that reintroduced wheat and I had no issues. I made this for dinner on Friday (using coconut aminos rather than soy sauce) and it was AMAZING!! https://www.idonthavetimeforthat.com/instant-pot-egg-roll-bowls/ I don't plan to indulge in wheat/grain on a regular basis, but it's good to know it doesn't give me any problems! Happy Monday!

Oh my...that's awful! I've never gotten hives from dairy, I only experience severe gastrointestinal issues. That sounds like a good reason to stay away from it!

Ugh...Dairy. Dairy hates me and even though I SWORE to myself that I wouldn't go back, I'm considering a long/slow reintroduction to see if it's ALL bad, or just certain things. I know that any type of sweetened dairy is out, plain and simple. And so is butter. But I'm really curious if some hard cheese here and there would be "worth it" since I do love me some cheese! (What mouse doesn't, right?? ) Also, I'm curious if I baking with dairy effects me differently than eating it straight. That probably sounds ridiculous, but I have eaten plenty of baked goods that contain milk and butter and I don't recall having any issues. But, maybe my system was just so poisoned at the time that it wasn't super noticeable...?

Hi all! I reintroduced beer this weekend. I'm sad to say, anxiety and terrible sleep plagued me last night. I've always know that alcohol effects me this way, but I was hoping it wouldn't be as bad as I remembered. No. Such. Luck. Glad to hear your reintros are going well. I'm going back to 100% compliant eating/drinking for the week and I'll reassess this weekend to see if/what I would like to reintroduce next. Keep on keeping on!!

    Starting January 2!

Day 31? Really?? I have felt bloated and uncomfortable the last few days, but it's my own fault. I've been eating way too many nuts. Regardless, the scale says I have lost 10 lbs, which is awesome! However, since I still have 25lbs to lose and 2 months to go before we head to Mexico for our youngest son's senior year spring break trip, I've decided that the only food group I'll be reintroducing at this time is alcohol. For special occasions only, of course. (Completing W30 is a special occasion, right??) I don't miss noncompliant food, which blows my mind. I have to admit...the NSVs have made me realize that I would rather continuously feel good than have a temporary "high" from food. I think the biggest thing is that I don't miss feeling like crap every day. I don't miss feeling lethargic and foggy at 2pm, I don't miss getting home from work and having ZERO energy, and I REALLY don't miss waking up in the middle of the night, every night, and not being able to get back to sleep for what seems like hours. Over the past 30 days, I didn't participate in a regular exercise regimen, but that changes now. I'm planning to move forward with basically the same diet, but I'm going to cut back on white potatoes and nuts, since these are unfortunately food with no brakes for me. I'll allow myself an occasional alcoholic beverage and will add 3-5 days of exercise per week. Congrats to all of us for the hard work and determination! I'll continue to check in and if a different thread gets started for those that decide to continue, please let me know! I didn't post a lot during this journey, but I read every one of your posts and it really helped. Cheers!!

I don't know if it's sustainable for everyone, and I've never tried it, but it sounds like a great plan to me!

Hello all! HUGE NSV for me last week... I made it through a week in the land of CHEESE CURDS, spent 15 hours in various airports on the 15th, lived in a hotel room for 4 days and, because I was prepared, I was able to stay 100% compliant and I feel FANTASTIC!! Happy day 21, everyone! Keep up the great work!

I have been bloated (and extra gassy ) the past few days! I've eaten different stuff each day, so I can't really pinpoint what has caused it, but I'm not liking it at all!

Hi all! I don't know about anyone else, but the mornings seem to go by too quick in my home and I usually don't allow myself enough time to make a decent breakfast. Lucky for me, I could eat the same thing for breakfast everyday for a month and be completely content. Which brings me to the point of this post. One way I make mornings more manageable is by always having breakfast casserole at the ready. I use 10 eggs, 2 small or 1 large potato cubed (white or sweet - it helps to put these in the microwave for a minute or two to soften them up a bit), 1 chopped onion, 2 chopped bell peppers, 1lb of homemade (or compliant store bought) sausage (browned with the onions), 1T red pepper flakes, salt and pepper to taste. Bake in 9x12 dish at 375° for 40ish minutes (or until the eggs are cooked) and cut it into 8-10 pieces. I store it in a gallon sized ziplock in the refrigerator and pull out 1-2 pieces each morning, pop it in the microwave and then top with 1/4 avocado. It's delicious, covers all of the food groups, and takes less than 5 minutes to prepare on a crazy busy morning! Hope you're all enjoying this beautiful Humpday! It's raining here, but it's still beautiful!

Hello fellow Day 8ers! Sorry I've been MIA, but I've tried to post from my phone a couple times and halfway through typing a post, it vanishes. Today I logged in from my computer and whaddayaknow...I found a half written post. Just sitting here, ready to be finished. What. The. Heck. Anywho...I've found that, so far, this W30 has been a complete breeze compared to my first. I'm not having cravings and I feel GREAT! I attribute this to the fact that I was in such a bad place and had packed on so much weight in such a short time that I was absolutely MISERABLE for the past couple of months and I didn't even realize it. I struggled to find the energy to make dinner, do dishes, fold laundry...pretty much anything that took an ounce of effort. I realize now that I was basically poisoning myself with my terrible choices! Seriously. How rude! And now for the 1/2 written post from day 4... Just a thought for when you're in a rush and don't have a meal prepped... Keep a pack of compliant Applegate hotdogs, pepperoni, or salami in your refrigerator, a bag of steamable veggies in your freezer, and a few Larabars in your cupboard. It's a lifesaver when you're feeling hangry and extra stabby. I was a bit overwhelmed the first 1-2 weeks of my first W30 because I felt like all I did was COOK, but once I realized I didn't have to make a great big fancy meal every night, it really helped. Keep on keeping on. We're 1/4 of the way there!

Good morning and Happy Day 1! I was a lazy turd yesterday and didn't prep for breakfast/lunch today, so I scrambled this morning to get breakfast and lunch ready for the husband and myself. I did a darn good job, but I won't make that mistake again anytime soon! Onion, mini potato, pulled pork and egg scramble for breakfast and pulled pork salad with dried apricots for lunch. I packed us both some pistachios as a snack, if necessary. When I feel the need for something other than plain old water, my go-to drinks are GT's Kombucha and La Croix, so I have both of those options at the ready! Have a GREAT day, everyone. WE'VE GOT THIS!!

Hubby and I are starting our 2nd W30 on January 2! (I posted in a January 1 start group prior to seeing this January 2 group, oops! I'm super excited to get started, but January 1 is not at all realistic for us.) I've already started prepping and have some go-to recipes that I kept from our 1st Whole30 in October 2015. We did FANTASTIC the first time, but we've completely fallen off the wagon and between our terrible eating habits and a very stressful/crazy 2017, I've gained 40 lbs and need to get myself back to healthy. I'm extremely blessed to have a partner that is 100% supportive and doing this with me out of sheer support and selflessness. He's blessed with great genetics and even though he eats double the dessert and naughty foods that I do, he doesn't gain an ounce. It's maddening. But, I digress. This round will be extra hard for me since I have an out of state business trip the week of January 15, but I made sure to book a suite with a full kitchen so I can cook for myself and stay on track! *crossing fingers* I'm looking forward to being on this journey with you all!
