Ok thank you - I will give this a try!

    Day 31!

@berry straw @jmcbn I most definitely can switch all my snacks to protein and fat if that will help! I normally just eat one serving of fruit in the morning so cup of berries or apple or banana. I can just eat my eggs and bacon or eggs and turkey sausage w/ no potatoes and no fruit and see if that helps. Tips for other protein/fat combos you guys eat??

    Day 31!

@jmcbn I do intend to introduce red meat and almonds on separate days, and will eat whole 30 as many days as it takes in between to feel better (if it affects me in a negative way). I will treat them like i would legumes, soy, non-gluten grains, gluten grains, etc. I am also getting blood work done so I am hoping that will provide some insight. Here is my food log: Wake up 7 am: coffee w/ coconut milk Get to work at 8am: banana, grapes, blueberries, apple (some type of fruit) Breakfast at 10am: 2 egg cups (they consist of bell peppers, onion, spinach, mushrooms and bacon) or 1 egg cup and 1 hard boiled egg, side of bacon (2 slices, sugar-free, low sodium) w/ 1/2 cup to 1 cup sweet potatoes or roasted red potatoes and 1/2 avocado, more coffee with coconut milk if i want it but mainly water water water Perhaps my breakfast has too much fat? Lunch at 2pm: 6 oz chicken breast with cauliflower rice and stir fry veggies (broccoli, carrots & sugar snap peas), usually add a little coco aminos or hot sauce for some flavor 4-4:30 pm: snack if i desire, more fruit or raw carrots/celery 5:30 pm: workout Dinner at 7:30-8pm: Monday it was salmon, cauli rice and same veggies, last night it was pork chops, red potatoes & green beans, tonight i intend to eat a turkey burger with some kale, spinach, & red onions. I was able to go yesterday morning because I added in about 3-4 prunes Monday night. Just to be clear - when I saw consitpated, I am able to go a "little bit" just not regular and not normal and today so far nothing. It makes me bloated & miserable and I have no desire to eat... any advice would be nice. I plan to cut out the coconut milk to see if that makes a difference. I am trying to up my fiber intake as well - I already drink a ton of water. Help!

    Day 31!

So far no suggestions or tips. I'm still dealing with constipation so I may not add anything back in until I feel good (or ready) to.

    Day 31 and beyond

@ladyshanny Thank you so much for your response - the "threshold" issue is exactly what I've been thinking it is (could be) as well simply because I really have not been able to pinpoint what it could be in the last 10 years! I am in no rush and have no desire to put back things that are going to mess with me and I really enjoy eating this way, the way I'm feeling and being able to live a "normal" life. My only real issue in the past 2 weeks or so is dealing with constipation - which I never have before so I don't really know what to do. Any tips? I drink a TON of water, I upped my fiber intake, I drink coffee in the mornings. I'm not really sure what else to do. I intend to try out red meat & almonds - probably not dairy because I already know it really messes with me. I'm fine taking my time and re-introducing things in the way you have suggested. I will make sure I'm feeling great before testing something new out. I just need to figure out how to deal with this constipation issue!

    Day 31!

Hi All, As of tomorrow morning my whole 30 will be complete! I've been looking through a lot of the posts and I'd love some additional advice. I've been dealing with IBS issues for 8-10 years so I decided to give Whole 30 a shot! (I'm also getting food sensitivity blood work done to see if it matches up with my real life experiences). For the most part I've felt pretty decent during Whole 30, a lot better than I normally do!! I've definitely been gassy & bloated at times, and constipated and miserable at times but for the most part I've felt good and my stomach has been good which is beyond amazing! It did freak out one night - and I noticed that it was the week (and the day) I was eating a lot of red meat and almonds. I've since cut both of those out and I've felt better again. So here's my questions: How do I go about testing those foods again? Same way I do for all the other re-introductions? And with those, do I have to eat a little bit of legumes (if that's what I'm testing) at breakfast, lunch & dinner or can I just eat some during one meal to test them out? I'm not sure I want to eat red meat for breakfast, lunch & dinner or any of these foods for that matter because I don't want to be miserable all day, or all the next day. But if that is the protocol - and the for sure way to tell, I will definitely do it for legumes, non-gluten grains and gluten grains, same goes for red meat & almonds. I am not re-introducing dairy bc I already know it messes me up and I'm lactose intolerant. Haven't eaten it for years. I could really use some advice - I don't want to mess up everything I've worked so hard to do! And if I don't feel great tomorrow (Day 31) - do you recommend delaying the start of the re-introductions until I do?? Thank you so very much!!!

    Day 31 and beyond

@ladyshanny I've been looking through a lot of the forums and I notice you tend to respond a lot and seem to know what you are talking about! I've been dealing with IBS issues for 8-10 years so I decided to give Whole 30 a shot! For the most part I've felt decent, a lot more decent than I normally do. I've definitely been gassy & bloated at times, and constipated and miserable at times but for the most part I've felt good and my stomach has held up which is great. It did freak out once - and I noticed that it was the week I was eating a lot of red meat and almonds. So here's my question: How do I go about testing those foods again? Same way I do for all the other re-introductions? And with those, do I have to eat a little bit of legumes at breakfast, lunch & dinner or can I just eat some during one meal to test them out? I'm not sure I want to eat red meat for breakfast, lunch & dinner but I could to try it... same goes with almonds. I could really use some advice - I don't want to mess up everything I've worked so hard to do! And if I don't feel great tomorrow (Day 31) - do you recommend delaying the start until I do?? Thank you!!!
  8. @purplepadres thank you for the tip - I will definitely look into it the next time this problem arrives. @SugarcubeOD I ended up incorporating a bunch more fiber in my diet last night and finally got some good relief. Just hoping that it keeps up! And with my stomach being so weird I'm not sure I want to re-introduce anything until it's back to normal. I thought the re-introduction of wine was to test how "alcohol" affects you - not sulfites? That is why I was struggling with the decision but I will most likely have a glass of wine and wait to introduce beer (gluten free or not) until I am fully done with all the reintroductions. Thank you both for the help & tips!
  9. @SugarcubeOD Thank you for your advice - I did not take a laxative and it's now been 4 days and I'm still pretty miserable. I am trying to incorporate more veggies into my diet, I have been incorporating more fat as was suggested and I am just not too sure what to do at this point. I am also on Day 29 so I'm a little concerned as to how to go about the re-introduction phase when I'm NOT too happy at the moment (constipated, gassy, bloaty). Any suggestions?? I was actually thinking that it might help me get back to being able to go re-introducing old foods that I used to eat but I don't know. I also wanted to re-introduce a glass of wine or gluten-free beer on day 31 (nothing else off the Whole 30 diet) - and I'm worried about the wine containing sulfites or the GF beer not being completely GF. Any thoughts about this? I then intend to eat Whole 30 until Saturday morning when I will introduce Legumes.
  10. Can we take a laxative while on this program? Or is that not allowed?

    Beyond Bloated

@Banjolele I'm so sorry to hear about your troubles!! I hope that you feel better soon! No sugar cravings is definitely a plus though. I hope you can get to the bottom of what is causing the reflux! @slc_melissa I am pretty sure I'm sensitive to coconut milk/coconut oil/coconut in general - I'm in the process of figuring that out. I know almonds & almond milk do not agree with me. I also don't think that red meat does - but I'm eating pork and bacon so that's come fattier meats. I don't like mayo or ranch so have no interest in re-creating those. I put olive oil on my veggies & zoodles and use it to cook every night I'll buy some olives next time I'm at the store and eating salmon tonight! Thank you for all your suggestions

    Beyond Bloated

@RandiW I’ve actually felt pretty good and been quite regular (way more so than I normally am). In terms of fat I’m not quite sure what else to eat besides avocado and I don’t want to overdo it! Any suggestions? And I tend to have a pre workout snack, hard boiled egg, piece of fruit (which I know doesn’t fit the template but not sure what else to have). And my post workout meal is always dinner, I work out after work and before dinner time.

    Beyond Bloated

Ok thank you - tomorrow I will switch it up for ONE cooked vegetable and maybe try some sort of elimination to see what it could be/what helps me. Any recommendations for "safe" vegetables?

    Beyond Bloated

My meals have pretty much been the same for the two weeks which is why I can't seem to figure out what's causing the big time bloating lately! My breakfast consists of eggs, red potatoes (or sweet potatoes) and some sort of meat (chicken apple sausage, flank steak or sugar free bacon), spmetimes topped with some avocado if I'm not going to have any with lunch. Lunch has consisted of kale salads with carrots, tomatoes, bell peppers (some spinach and romaine on occasion) with grilled chicken or grilled chicken with cooked vegetables (broccoli, carrots, mushrooms. green beans) and then for dinner i've been eating zoodles/spaghetti squash with ground beef or ground turkey, wild caught salmon with same vegetables as above, this past weekend i had some steak and sweet potatoes. I usually wake up feeling good, not bloated at all, but the minute I eat something, I get bloated - no matter what it is. I definitely haven't been sleeping well at all since starting this program. I am waking up way more often to have to pee and can't go back to sleep. I think there's been one day maybe that I slept a solid 7 hours?! For my workouts - I go to crossfit. It usually consists of strength training for 20-30 minutes, squats, olympic lifting, some running & rowing and then a workout that could be anywhere from 7-30 minutes - just depends on the day. I thought maybe the problem was red meat because I usually don't eat as much as I have been lately - I also usually eat turkey bacon. I am cutting out red meat (and almonds) - stomach was upset one day I ate them so I think they are no good for me..... hoping to feel better once I do both these things (at least in terms of my stomach hurting), but I'm still majorly bloated and it doesn't make me want to eat anything! I have a sensitive stomach to begin with so I don't eat fruit with my meals, I was told to always eat them alone. I can try to incorporate some fruit to my meals if you think it'll help?! Thanks for responding and any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

    Beyond Bloated

Good Morning! I'm on Day 16 (woo - over half way) - but for the past 3-4 days seems like ANYTHING I eat is making me bloated. I was hoping to use this program to identify some food intolerances that I know I have and haven't been able to pinpoint up to this point in my life. I'm eating foods that are supposed to "beat the bloat" while staying Whole 30 Complaint - but if anyone has any suggestions on what I can do - please let me know. I drink a ton of a water every day as well. Other than this - I'm feeling great and feeling my body composition changing which is definitely keeping me motivated, but the bloating is making me miserable! I am also working almost everyday. Please help - need tips. Thank you!
