@dnewc interesting to know about the whole kernel corn. I have enjoyed a few cassava chips (Siete brand) to quench my chip desire and also to avoid excess corn. (I really like them though.) Regarding yogurt, have you tried the Coyo brand of coconut cream yogurt? I have to say its really good, not that weird texture and flavor some of the other faux milk yogurts have. No sugar added so you can spice it up with fruit, granola, etc. But it has a high fat content so it was a good alternative to my regular avos. I liked the berry and mango but not the chocolate flavor. http://coyo.com/us/ I was visiting my mom this week and she told me in advance what she was going to make and I was excited that it would work for me (no dairy). But then in the middle of me eating the chicken salad, she said, "oh and the secret ingredient is yogurt!." WHAT? Oh well...so funny that it was the situation straight out the the Whole30 book. @SalW I did have my first chocolate yesterday. I got a super dark bar...just had a hint of sweetness but still. Sugar in there! Funny about those MINI eggs! And I'm with you...trying to keep most meals Whole30. Oh and I made the sheppards pie! So good. My husband said he wants that every week. Also keeping up with eating before working out and eating larger breakfasts. The best part of this plan for me was just increasing my awareness around food.

Hi all - How is the re-intro going for you? I'm still learning!!! The legumes did NOT treat me well. I was not expecting that as I ate peanut butter and hummus pretty regularly before. I introduced GF grains on Saturday and it seemed OK except my hip pain came back full force the last two nights so I'm wondering if its grains or wine or both. Back to clean eating today!

@dnewc thats awesome! I gained a few pounds. But who's counting.... Let me know how the corn experiment works. And I'm impressed you're up for another go so soon. I had peanut butter and garbanzo beans today. I meant to make hummus but ran out of time and just opened the can. My husband asked me if I wanted more stomach pain. Ha ha. Ooooh the veggies on this plan are so hurty on my tummy! Hope the legumes aren't. @JenniferNoc have fun tomorrow on your reintro!! @SalW really interesting about how the grains affected you. I'll do GF grains on Saturday. And I hope you enjoy that cookie. I toasted all of you with my 2 glasses of wine. I enjoyed every single sip. Kinda feels like we've been running a marathon! I think. I mean I've never run a marathon, but...

Just wanted to say I made the Chicken Chowder tonight from the Whole30 cookbook and it was really good. Something I'll definitely put on my regular rotation.

I'm still in. Yay!!!! Day 30!!! Congrats ladies. We did it. I bought dark chocolate at the store today in anticipation....I really missed my dark chocolate. Not sure when I'll break it out tho. I'm starting with legumes tomorrow (and wine!!). Then I'll do GF grains. I'm already gluten-free and was pretty sure dairy wasn't my friend, so I'm not even going to introduce it but save it for a rare occasion or when its really worth it for my face to break out. @dnewc I also think corn might be a problem for me too, but I've not been able to figure out yet if its the type (cooked corn vs popcorn vs corn chips) or simply the volume. Is it so wrong to eat a pound of corn chips!?!?!? I am ready to be done. Same reason @SalW. I'm tired of thinking about the yes's and no's so much. But I hope to continue implementing what I learned, which is not to eat so mindlessly. I didn't have tigers blood or wake up feeling great at any particular time in the 30 days. I'd say I feel slightly better than I used to. But nothing dramatic. The extra veggies made me feel so bloated throughout the 30 days...I'm guessing I didn't lose any weight but didn't weigh before so won't really know. @Sunshine2020 I'm so glad to hear you're doing it again. Big kudos and this one will be your 30!!!! Shall we toast each other with wine tomorrow night??!!!

Oh yes ladies. I called myself a grump-asaurus @SalW the last few days!! Everything has been getting on my nerves. My youngest was home sick this week and my husband is still in recovery mode from back surgery (my 3rd child), so I'm a bit at my wits end. Too many people and dogs to take care of and even my plants need attention!!! This way of eating feels more like a burden when everything else is stressful. Okay, that's my rant. Done. I'm at the end of my grocery supplies so I'm making sweet potato fries (I think I might end up killing myself with my mandoline. Says woman with another bandaid after use.), steamed broccoli and grilled chicken breasts. Basically a regular meal in our rotation. @dnewc I took your advice about melting the 100% chocolate (with a little coconut oil) and dipped bananas in it. I'm excited about how far we've come! I looked at the reintroduction list on Friday, as a girlfriend and I were talking about it and she said "you start with sugar." I was thinking, "um, no!" But wine was her "sugar" and I think that might be mine too.

@dnewc I like your chocolate idea! I've been doing something similar. I bought the unsweetened Cholaca (liquid cacao) and mixed it with Malk (almond milk) and steamed it for a treat. Its not sweet, but I like dark chocolate so it satisfied the chocolate craving. Glad you are experiencing some positive changes! I think my skin is clearer, but haven't noticed much else yet. Fingers crossed.

@Sunshine2020 brussels and butternut squash were fresh at Costco. They have organic blueberries right now (here) that are sooo good. And the dinner recipe was OK. I think they must have pan-fried the chicken first for the photography because mine was pale and not crispy. Salad wasn't enough bulk. In the future I'd fry the chicken and finish in the oven. Reduce the onions and increase the Kale. Side of baked potato? I'm really enjoying GT Dave's kombucha for a beverage. The winter edition with hibiscus. Smells like roses! Very light and bubbly. I made the Perfect Sausage recipe yesterday to have on hand for breakfast. They are simple and very good! Today was the day full of cravings for me. I wanted some salty chips so bad! And then I wanted chocolate! (I think because my breakfast and lunch were not enough.) @SalW good work on resisting all that deliciousness. I gave my husband some feta to put on his salad. That was his treat. Tonight we had boiled yukons with olive oil and ghee, big green salad, leftover chicken and also Applegate sweet Italian chicken sausages.

@SalW yes I got the Fast and Easy at Costco!

@dnewc I got Brussels sprouts at Costco too. And the pre-cut butternut squash. Made the balsamic roasted sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts recipe last night on pg 262. Subbed the squash for the potatoes. We had dinner at friends house last night and I told them not to worry about me, that I'd bring something I could eat but my friend asked question and after question and when I got there she explained all she had made and most of dinner was compliant! So sweet. Kinda embarrassing to add more restrictions as they often cook around my family's existing food restrictions. I'm #thatfriend. @Sunshine2020 sorry about the tough weekend. Hang in there. But yay on the Mom's run!!! In general I'd say I feel impatient right now. I'd like to see some changes -- primarily the brain fog, but I'm still feeling a little behind on energy, sleep, etc. And I'm pretty sure I've gained weight only because some of my pants are tighter!! Ugh. Ha ha. Oh well. I'm going to cut back a bit on the amounts of food per meal. I was following the cheat sheet but maybe that's too much for me. Tonight I'm making Cashew-crusted chicken and wilted kale salad from the Whole30 Fast and Easy book. I got the regular Whole30 cookbook from the library, but the recipes in general are more labor-intensive with longer ingredient lists. Fast and Easy is more my speed. Have a great day!!!! Week three, here we come!

@SalW sorry about the tummy troubles! I'm glad you're feeling better. The chips!!! Me too -- I almost did it again this morning when I was packing my son's lunch. The veggie straws smelled so good and I almost put one in my mouth. I am realizing I eat so mindlessly.

@dnewc that sounds very satisfying. I'm excited to try it. I made a regular recipe tonight with some modifications. Its really good and the coconut rice is delish when you're eating grains again. I made the coconut cauliflower rice for myself and I subbed Cholula & fish sauce for the Sriracha as I couldn't find one without sugar. https://food52.com/recipes/26046-crispy-coconut-kale-with-roasted-salmon-and-coconut-rice How are you guys doing? I'm feeling pretty normal except for what all these veggies are doing to my digestive tract. Will I get used to it? Or will I always feel uncomfortable. Ha. That and the thirst and tiredness. I guess I'm not tooooo normal yet.

@dnewc would you share your muesli recipe? That sounds really appealing right now. I bought "Malk" at whole foods yesterday. Almond milk with 3 ingredients. I haven't tried it yet, will let you guys know if its worth it. And YES I've been super dehydrated too. Its really cold here right now so I didn't know if its the diet or temperatures or both!

Thanks for the recipes @Sunshine2020. That quiche looks yummy. I made Melissa's Chicken Hash pg 228 for dinner tonight. I thought the flavors were really good but my sweet potato was so huge so it overpowered the dish a bit. Glad to have leftovers for tomorrow! Yesterday was my eating out day with lunch and dinner. We have a Paleo restaurant here in Boulder so I went there and had a delicious chorizo wrap. I couldn't eat the beet soup (it had syrup) so they made crispy Brussels sprouts for me. I think I could eat there daily! So good. Dinner out was for my bookclub, so I called the restaurant in advance and was transferred to 3 people, the last being the owner who could actually answer my questions! He helped me pick out a dish that they could make compliant. So glad I called, as the waitstaff are not native english speakers and I of course don't speak Nepali. Eating out is so challenging!!!! I feel bad that some people have to eat out a lot when they are on the Whole30. Apparently we are past the hardest days? Whooo hooo! I am so bored with eggs. I'm going to make some turkey sausage tomorrow for my breakfasts. Costco here had compliant chicken meatballs and plain grilled chicken in the freezer section. I thought those would be good for quick meals. I'm eating way more meat than I used to. Not really craving anything today (other than a live-in chef who can make me whatever I want, when I want it). @SalW I do that too when my husband is out of town. But I usually also drink wine and watch a chick flick. Have fun!!! How are the rest of you doing? I underestimated the mental work this way of eating requires. Changing habits....

@jenrunsaustin I made the chicken cobb salad recipe tonight that you shared. Really good. (My husband liked it too, and he just eats salad because its on the table.) Yes...I think I get where you're at with the diet. For me, when other parts of life are pushing my buttons, then I feel like the "diet" is just one more thing to deal with. BUT, I'm having to rephrase my own thoughts to remember that this is really self care. I'm a little giddy about my blood sugar numbers being in tighter range the last two days and I'm really pondering if it would be worth it to avoid grains entirely. I'd need a lot less insulin. Time will help decipher that one. I need more ideas for breakfast! I like me a scramble, but.....I want something different. @dnewc my hubby knows that he's addicted to sugar. At least I've gotten him to give up eating jawbreakers all night long (he doesn't sleep well). He tried one of the RX bars I bought and really liked it. He said it could be his treat instead of the other sugar-laden bars. I'm thinking, well at least its a start. Gotta work on the "treat" part later! But, he's gotta decide for himself. We're here and doing it because its important to us. Maybe our good example will rub off. I could and would do the whole30 independently, but this group is keeping me extra motivated. So thanks you guys! I don't want to mess up or give up because I don't want to tell you that I did.
