    Lenten Whole30 2/14-4/1

Yesterday I finally re-introduced a food group.... legumes in the form of pinto beans. Argh. After eating them I felt yucky (no other way to describe it) and this morning I woke up super groggy almost felt like I had a hangover and I am super snotty with lots of post nasal drip. GROSS. So clearly pinto beans are not a good food. Does anyone know if it's likely all beans/legumes will affect me like this? I would love to have hummus again.

Yesterday was day 31 for me. And of course I woke up sick, probably a cold. My plan was to start the reintroduction with beans but then decided to wait to reintroduce until I feel better. I did get on the scale. I am down 5 pounds and as I said in a previous post my belly is flat and I have a waist again. That my friends was worth it. I am still feeling far more fatigued than I think is normal. I may need to explore that further. Since this has been a Lenten discipline I am thinking about how I plan to break the fast without messing up all of this work.

I was wondering if this Tiger Blood thing was a myth, lol. But as I reflect I do have more energy than before starting and I feel much more positive generally. It's actually gone by much faster than I thought it would. I don't really miss anything so that's nice. Who is planning on doing the reintroduction phase?

NSV.... I found my waist!!!! I too spent the weekend prepping like a maniac. I did not look longingly at the wine in the wine aisle and the Easter displays are not tempting me. Sermon today was on treating the body like a temple... getting good sleep, and eating good nourishing food, etc. Very well timed.

I will need to look for it specifically. Or show the butcher this photo, lol.

I have been reading all labels religiously but am still a bit nervous about mistakenly eating a no-no. What did you eat that had sulfites in it? I wish I could help with the bathroom issue. Not an issue here but I am not drinking as much as I should. Hopefully someone else can help.

Sunday night here and day 12 is done. Whew! My husband decided to join me and he is on day 3 now. Dinners have been relatively easy and though I am not typically a breakfast eater breakfast has been going pretty well. Lunches on the other hand have been tricky. Mostly lunch has been 2 hard boiled eggs and salad with vegetables. As much as I would love leftovers for lunch I have 2 hungry sons at home and even when I think I have made an ungodly amount of food it's gone in one meal. Wine was hard to walk past at the store today and I have not been successful finding compliant bacon (I've even tried Whole Foods and Sprouts). But I think I have this week pretty well laid out. I made a HUGE pot of vegetable hash for breakfast. I am planning on adding some runny eggs. It should last all week and it was pretty tasty. OH, and I also signed up for Blue Apron's Whole30 promo. There's only enough for me and my husband but I can make the boys some pasta. It has really taken the stress of those 2 nights of meal planning as we usually went out to eat on nights where I was not in the mood to do dinner. Has anyone tried Territory? The ads keep popping up on my social media feeds.

I was wondering if I was the only one having dreams, lol. In mine I keep absentmindedly eating candy that someone has left out.

Good for you making it through day 1! As a day 7 newbie, days 1-3 were crazy because I had not found a pattern. I'm getting into the rhythm now On this day my belly is happier (not hungry), headache is gone, and the tummy non bloated. It's doable!

Hello everyone I have been reading the thread about every other day... I started on Ash Wednesday and have been doing okay with most things. Meal prep has been a little crazy but I have been trying the suggestion in the book to consolidate prepping tasks for other meals which has made a difference. I have also been scouring Pinterest for some good recipes and have tried a couple (one I am modifying to make it compliant). But I am finding I am happier with simple meals as I work a full time day job then a night gig 3 times a week. I need simple. As far as detox I had a whopper of a headache day 3 and then had an emotional crash today. Not sure if it was the program or life. Maybe a combo of both. I have learned I CAN drink black coffee. It just needs to be an espresso, I can't do a full cup. I am enjoying reading everyone's updates, I don't have a real life W30 buddy so this forum is helping

    Very Tired Teacher

Hello, My name is Shannon and I am a 49 year old mother of 4. I have been experiencing fatigue for years and my doctors have not been helpful. I do have what I presume is Hashimoto's thyroiditis. My doctors have never used those words but from what I have read there are only 3 causes of a hypothyroidism and I definitely don't have 2 of them. Most recently my doctor suggested I needed a psychiatrist. Yikes. Not because he thinks I'm nuts but because I do suffer from some anxiety and depression. I have been on antidepressants but hated them. I would like to treat whatever is going on naturally. I know I already have a few sensitivities to chemical additives so have been avoiding those for years. I do like to cook from scratch at home but mostly dinner. I am not a breakfast person. It looks like I will need to fix that.... I plan to start on Ash Wednesday and make this my lenten discipline. There should be enough time for me to do the reintroduction as well.
