    Lenten Whole30 2/14-4/1

    R1D31... I reluctantly checked my weight this morning. I’ve lost 18 lbs!!! Feeling so good. Introducing Legumes today. Had Peanut butter with my apple this morning. So far so good.

    Lenten Whole30 2/14-4/1

    Haven't checked-in in a while... I am 2 whole days away from reaching W30! I have stayed 100% compliant the whole time. I am stoked! I have energy again and it feels wonderful... I am having some anxiety about reintroducing foods. I'm finding it difficult to come up with a plan, because of the anxiety... Any suggestions? I know that I will be staying, most of the time, Paleo and I will be avoiding any refined sugars (I have found in my W30 journey that I was addicted to sugar, BIG TIME, and need to avoid it). I'm feeling so good and do not want to go through through that again. NSV? My son and husband were over-the-moon that I bought them Doritos and buns to go with their dinner last night, . The victory for me was not just taking a leap and allowing that food back into the house, it was the fact that I had absolutely no desire to "eat just one"; on the contrary, I couldn't stand the smell of them! This made me feel so good and just reaffirmed all my hard work. Another NSV, my clothes are fitting so much better. I had a doctor's appointment a couple weeks ago. He was very encouraging about W30. He asked me to get some blood work done and follow-up with him. My appointment is next week and can't wait to see what my labs look like compared to a year ago. Hoping to eventually be taken off some medications, that no 36 y/o should be on.

    Lenten Whole30 2/14-4/1

    Day 14 and still standing strong! I feel amazing! I wake up ready to tackle the day, I’m actually productive in my day! I think I will have to continue this or at least remain Paleo after my 30 days, I just feel so good! I have definitely decided sugar will not be reintroduced. I’ve found that that is a trigger and I’m afraid if I allow myself to have any, I will just be right back to square one. My skin is brighter, I’ve gotten my stride back when I’m walking (my husband calls them my “long legs” b/c I walk too fast for him to keep up), I’m happier, and feel a freedom that I never knew I could have. Thank you, God for While30! I do have a question.... I just started my bone broth. And just realized I was going to have an abundance of bone broth...LOL (I just didn’t even think about how much I would have). How do you store it? It says to freeze for up to 6 months... can you freeze in large (32 oz) mason jars??? Or do I need to buy special freezer safe containers? I’m so excited about this bone broth! I never thought I’d be so excited over making homemade broth! But I haven’t been able to find compliant store bought broth. So I just decided to make my own.

    Lenten Whole30 2/14-4/1

    I was able to find compliant Chicken Sausage at our local grocery, “Aidell’s Chicken Apple Sausage.” I checked the ingredients, all real food and compliant. There was other flavors too but check the ingredients. They are fully cooked. So you could, in theory, cut those up and have those for the extra protein (or stick them on the grill for 8 minutes to put that wonderful grill flavor on them)... we had them as our protein with dinner last night. They were really good. Praying for a safe trip.

    Okay so the energetic feeling didn’t last all day... But it did last most of it. Still feeling good at the end of my day 9. Haven’t been overly hungry today as in previous days. So that’s a win, right? Sugar Dragon must have been sleeping today because I didn’t feel the ache for sweets today hardly at all. Went to the doctor today, just a wellness visit... He was super supportive of The Whole30. And was happy at the progress that I have already had; he recommends I continue. Thank you, Lord for a wonderful day! Lots of “God moments” in my day. Hopeing this momentum stays for a bit. Goodnight everyone and Day 9. It’s been real!

    Lenten Whole30 2/14-4/1

    Beginning Day 9 here in Indiana. I feel AMAZING guys! I woke up without grogginess and totally focused, ready to tackle the day. Thinking to myself, “Is this what tiger blood feels like? Cause THIS is AWESOME!” I really hope it’ll last throughout the day.

    Lenten Whole30 2/14-4/1

    First NSV! I have just finished Day 5 of my first Whole30. I have read The Whole30 book cover to cover and have been hyper focused on looking for NSV b/c I knew that’s what would keep me motivated. I was starting to feel discouraged yesterday (why I thought something positive would happen so quickly, I really don’t know) b/c I hadn’t seen or felt anything amazing yet... Well today... 1. I woke up feeling refreshed. I haven’t had a refreshing night’s sleep since before I became a mom, 16+ years ago! Felt foggy but refreshed. Kinda like you’ve slept really well b/c of an illness but still had brain fog from meds you still required to function physically... you know what I’m saying? For example, I went to make coffee, as usual, and breakfast. After using the coconut oil for the eggs and some for in my coffee, without thinking I put it in the cup cabinet (thinking I put it away in the “right” place) and forgot about it til lunch. I went into the “regular” spot and caught myself honestly not knowing where it went!!! And got upset with my son, blaming him for not putting it where is belongs... lol... 2. For the first time in probably a year I don’t feel bloated. I told my husband I felt “light”. He knew what I meant... lol. 3. My wedding ring! I can spin it on my finger! I know that sounds ridiculous, but I went from being able to slip my ring off with the same hand it was on to not being able to move the sucker. So for it to have some give, is huge to me! And this is only Day 5! I can’t wait to see how my body feels on day30! Just the news I needed. Cravings were super BAD today. So my hubby decided we needed to leave the house to avoid temptation (even though everything “junky” is out of the house). Thank you Lord for always knowing exactly what I need and when I need it!

    Lenten Whole30 2/14-4/1

    Dear Day 4, Go fly a kite! I want to eat everything and kill everyone... what the heck?! I know this is normal (according to the time line) but the feeling is not good... every little thing is really irritating... My son (16 y/o) whistles, and does it very well I might add; I usually enjoy listening to him b/c he’s happy when he whistles... Today? I told him to “knock it off!” in a rather mean tone. It was like nails on a chalk board... I couldn’t stand it. Made “No-Fuss Salmon Patties” and Green Cabbage Slaw w/ Lemon Oil for lunch today... I don’t think I’ll make the patties again... they’re not bad but their kinda fishy, I might try them with fresh fish instead of canned... but the slaw is super yummy. How’s everybody else doing?
  9. I’m on day 3 b/c my original day 1 was just crap shoot... Today I was so tired! I took a nap! And I don’t take naps, like ever... but today apparently I needed one. Hunger was a bit more in control today and was able to feel satiated longer without my tummy yelling at me. I will say however the cravings are starting to kick in... I wanted BREAD so bad, like a dinner roll (or maybe 10) slathered with butter... But maintained throughout the day! Day 3 is done and I made through another day! And I’m better for it.

    Lenten Whole30 2/14-4/1

    I was able to get all of my devotions done today! Yay! And even had time for a much needed nap (major fatigue today). Day 3 has proved to be a bit more challenging. I wanted a slice of toast so bad with my eggs this morning I could smell it! But I didn’t even entertain the thought. Had some leftover sweet potatoes instead. Lunch was yummy, (leftover roast and a Greek salad) I’m actually kinda proud of myself, I don’t like olives, like at all, but I made sure to put just a few in my salad and I have to say it added a bit of extra flavor that I never knew I was missing! On another positive note, my tummy hasn’t been as talkative today. The day is almost over. Working on Pork Chops with Spiced applesauce and a side salad or sautéed spinach for dinner... still haven’t decided on the side. I’ve got this!

    Mayo and Ranch Dressing in One Session

    Were all your ingredients at room temperature? That makes a huge difference. Also add the olive oil very very slowly while it’s blending and it’ll thicken up nicely after a few seconds. I must say I was sceptical when I read the recipe, mine turned out perfect. I actually like it better that store bought stuff. Good luck!

    Lenten Whole30 2/14-4/1

    Thanks for the heads up! I had 3 scrambled eggs, half an avocado, 1/4 cup salsa, & half of a very large sweet potato that I roasted. It was super scrummy! The tummy rumbles stopped about 30 minutes later. We just ate dinner (braised pot roast, sweet potato mash, and sautéed mushrooms and onion) it was also super yummy. But now my stomach is rumbling again... weird... hopefully this will stop in the next few days. Was able to maintain another 100% compliant day!

    Lenten Whole30 2/14-4/1

    This week has been a clustered mess!!! Monday was supposed to be my Day1 but the day didn’t want to cooperate, I had to start over yesterday. Yesterday was a mess too! I didn’t get anything on my “to-do” list completed, including my devotionals. But I stayed 100% compliant with my food! So that’s a win right?! Today I’m feeling a little groggy and hungry! My stomach keeps yelling at me! I just finished lunch, which was super yummy, and my stomach is making all kinds of noise... I think it’s forming a protest about this new way of eating... Here’s to another successful day of Whole30!
  14. Totally screwed up my day 1 on Monday .... had to start over yesterday. Today I am super hungry and feeling a little foggy, according to the book that’s normal... Just ate lunch; Scrambled eggs, salsa, avocado, and leftover sweet potato go surprisingly well together! I feel satiated but my tummy has all kinds of things to say about this new way of eating... I think it might be forming a protest... Here’s to another successful day of the Whole30. Cheers!

    Check out what was in the mail today! Super exciting!!!! Now to finish cleaning house, get groceries, and prep my meals! Feeling way more prepared for my Feb. 19 start date.
