  1. Wing and a Prayer

Starting 2/26/18 - First timer - Can you say determined?

Hi Folks! After about week 6, I went to the movie and got both popcorn and a diet Coke. I about died that night! My feet burned that night in bed and my hips and legs both were in so much pain. I couldn't believe how fast I was affected. I'm not sure which treat it was that did that to me, but I'm in no hurry to try either one again. It's clear that for me, I need to stay on this. I've reintroduced some shredded cheese, that I seem to be tolerating. I've also gone out for curry a couple of nights and haven't been overly bothered. But for the most part, I don't have a good enough excuse to go back to my normal way of eating. I'm so grateful for this experience. I need to write to the Hartwig's and thank them!!!

Hi All!!!! Decided to start another Whole30! I lost 20, count 'em TWENTY pounds!!!! Crazy! At least I feel better about being hungry sometimes! I realize there are worse things than being hungry occasionally... Here are the things that have changed for me, keeping in mind that I have fibromyalgia and was in enough pain that I became desperate enough to try Whole30! LOL The edema in my legs is gone. The pain in my right hip and leg is gone, it's 90% gone on my left side. My restless leg is 90-95% better. My feet which are so hot at night that I put a bottle of frozen water in a sock in the foot of my bed is 90% better. Because of all of these things, my sleep is better. My brain fog is so much less! I'm super excited to have found this program. It may just be an actual life saver for me. I have 60 more pounds to lose. I'm hoping I can stay motivated to keep going, for once in my life! How'd everyone else do????? Cathie

Hey, @Liesje! You are amazing! Two days left! never have a problem eating meat. I am carnivore! Lol... @Amy Rose, Good job on rewarding yourself! @EatingSun, nice to have you on the "team"! I just made a great pork chop recipe, but my sister took a picture of it on her phone and I don't know how to attach it here. I now have like 5 recipes that I like, that will help me incorporate this into a life change for me. It feels so much more doable to me now! Really a change in priorities though. Grocery shopping and meal prepping have to be high on the list. I hope I can keep up the enthusiasm! I'm kind of looking forward to the next time my son and his girlfriend visit me in Oregon from Texas. I want to show him what a good cook I'm becoming! Ha!!! Still struggling with eating veggies in the morning. It just turns my stomach a little. I know I could fit them in if I could do a smoothie, but that is frowned on. Luckily, I've rebounded on the egg thing and don't hate having them so much in the morning! My sister just bought the Whole30 recipe book at Costco, and loves it. I'm considering picking one up. Have a great week, My Friends!!!!

Hi All! It looks like the last message I entered didn't actually send... dang! Anyway, I have MUCH catching up on this thread to do!!! Even though I haven't bee around, I'm still 100% on plan. It's starting to get a little easier, praise Jesus! My friend that started it with me, fell off the first weekend, but that hasn't stopped me. Lol... I'm so dang busy, it's hard to find time to post on here, but I try to catch up on what others are reading as much as possible, so thanks for keeping up the posting! Alrighty, now I'm going to take the time to catch up. Have a great weekend!!! Cathie

Happy New Week Everyone!!!! I'm having some cravings, but nothing that's been unmanageable, but I'm a bit bored with veggies! Okay, I'm kind of a lot bored with veggies. Lol. I'm trying a new crockpot recipe tomorrow. It's called Fall Harvest Thai Soup. I'm making it with chicken. Man, I sure hope it's good. I need some zing! Would everyone pretty please say what their favorite recipe was for week one? (Or, @Liesje, week 2? Good job!) I suppose I would have to say that my favorite was the Perfect ground meat with tomato sauce and spaghetti squash. Having said that, I'm not a huge lover of spaghetti squash. I actually would have liked to just have the meat sauce! Have a great week! Still determined!!!!!! Cathie

My mom is as okay as she's going to be... Thanks for asking. We had to move her from her apartment in her residential facility, to the "memory care" part of it. She's got Alzheimer's. This is one of the reasons I want to be healthy. I would like to avoid going through what is happening to her IF AT ALL possible, and I know the food we eat is so critical to brain health. The good part is, I didn't go off plan! I took some perfect seared chicken, and a bunch of veggies. I'm sure I didn't eat enough yesterday, but I'm just so grateful I didn't get crazy and lose control! @DIversity, love your pics. I have found I really, really, really do not love veggies in my eggs either. I think I'll have to change it up to potatoes. I had to kinda choke down my egg muffin things this morning. Ugh. Glad I've finished those off! Off work for the next 3 days so planning on doing some recipe surfing, and more prepping. Keep going, Gang!!! we're over half way through our first week!!!!!

Glad we have a thread chosen! I had an emergency with my mom tonight, so it got me home late and I was panicked on what to eat. Ended up with salmon in the fry pan with Cucumber Dill sauce (YUMS!) and roasted potato slices. I also face-timed with my friend that I'm doing this with, so we got to cook together! That was actually fun! LOL I think I need to figure out bigger batch cooking so I don't have to cook every night. I too, am a lazy cook, @Amy Rose! I mostly dine out, or pick up and bring home (which is one of the reasons I look and feel as badly as I do!) Apparently I need a guinea pig! Yeah, it's not gonna happen... Thanks everyone, for being here! Cathie

I clearly don't know how to post. I don't want to be double posting... so much to figure out. Liesje, herring???? I've never tried it! But living in the NW of the US, we have the best salmon in the world! Well, except for maybe Alaska... Ha!

DI and Amy, how'd you do on day one? I spent the whole weekend trying to get ready. I can already tell the things I want to change next week. Tina, my sister is starting on the first as well. I bought WAY TOO MUCH lettuce type veggies! I got some at Costco (Sam's Club) and I'm a single gal, so I really will not eat Costco size bags of greens. My bff is doing it with me, which is really helpful, but she has a hubby and 2 grown kiddo's still at home. This SHOULD be much easier for me, but I'm so stressed about it! I'm using the week one menu. I clearly did not read the recipes very well, not realizing that dinner would take me over an hour to make tonight. Can you say hangry? LOL. I'm looking forward to less fibromyalgia pain!!!! Woot woot!
  12. Hello! I decided on the 26th, then started freaking out and thought maybe I should move it to March 1st. Well, knowing me, then I'll want to change it to 5th, because, who starts a new way of living and eating on a THURSDAY, for heaven's sake?????? Just one more excuse. Monday, February 26th, 2018 it is!!!! I'm fairly overwhelmed already, just by trying to put my grocery list together, but (!!!), I did clean out my pantry and actually threw out anything that had sugar or artificial sweeteners in it. I never thought I could even do that, so... take that, sugar! Anyone else starting on Monday that's serious, let me know and we can check in on each other? Let's do this!
