Brand New and Hoping to Start 9/3

I'm starting today too! @itsyourcaptain I feel you. I have tried a couple of half-hearted whole30s this year, but this one is for real. I wish you the best of luck! If you find any good recipes or have any tips, please share them here, and I will too! Good luck to all!
  3. Good luck! I'm starting today as well.

Wife and I start tomorrow, July 16

I started yesterday, and it’s the end of day 2 for me right now. Would it be helpful for us to check in with each other on here? As for the CrossFit/being active thing: it helps to eat more meals in a day instead of trying to go 4+ hours between meals if you’re pretty active and hungry. I like to eat a mini-meal about an hour before working out, and then another immediately after. My meal after normally has a lot of fat and protein to keep me full now that my metabolism is revved. Good luck!

Hi! Please keep posting these daily updates, it’s so nice to know that someone else is going through what I’m going through! What do you mean by “negative people” around you?

    Ending Day #2! (Good Night)

Hi guys! Today is day 1 for me, and it’s my second time doing a Whole30, and I’m jumping on your bandwagon, I hope that’s okay. Would it be helpful for y’all if we check in with each other on here? I for one could use some support and accountability, and also advice.
  11. Gabrielle, I am an 18 year old girl and I am struggling with binge eating for the first time in my life. For the past few months I’ve been bingeing on sugary foods at night, sometimes even in the mornings and afternoons, and I am feeling so weak and ashamed and scared and removed from my life. I don’t know what’s happening to me. This is horrible. I’m not fat or overweight yet, but I’ve put on 20 pounds over the past three months. This is horrible and I feel so so so gross and I’m so worried that I’ll never be able to fix myself. I’ve lost so much willpower and confidence. I don’t know what’s going on with myself. I had a legit mental breakdown a few days ago because eating so much, especially so much sugar, really takes a mental toll on me and makes me feel so foggy-headed. Have you experienced this too? I feel at this point like I’m using food to “get high” in a way and I’m addicted. I hate this so much. I’m starting the Whole30 tomorrow to try to save myself. I really really really would love to do this thing with you because we are struggling with similar issues and I really need someone who understands me and what I’m going through. We can be each other’s accountability partners and we can encourage each other and make sure we both stay committed! I believe that we both can do whatever we set our minds too, as long as we are strong and dedicated. Let’s do this thing!!! What do you say?

    Whole 30 Round 3

Hi! How's this Whole30 round going for you so far?
  14. ild228

    Started this week!

Hi! How's it going so far for you?
  15. Hi all! I have done a Whole30 before and I learned a lot of valuable information about how my body responds to different foods. I now know that grains and legumes don't really have any negative impacts on me physically, and I prefer not to go without them in my diet. Lately I've felt like I've been eating a ton of sugar and other stuff that doesn't make me feel good, and I would like to change that. I know that the Whole30 community is very gung-ho and supportive, and maybe there are other people on here who would like to do a pretty strict food cleanse but forego all of the Whole30 rules. I looked around online for other kinds of health support and accountability groups, but I couldn't find any free ones that didn't use facebook (I don't have facebook). So, would anyone like to do a food cleanse with me (no sugar, no white flour, no alcohol, nothing refined, mostly fresh fruits and veggies and protein)? We can use this forum post to talk with each other about our struggles, recipes, exercise, what we want to get out of the food cleanse, etc. Also if anyone knows of free online health-centered support or accountability groups that aren't solely on facebook then please let me know!

    Hibachi Restaurant

Hey y'all! How's it going for all of you? I'm on my second day of my first Whole30 and I am loving it so far! I think I must still be in the honeymoon phase because I'm finding it very easy to say no to sugary, bready, cheesy things and I don't have any cravings. Has anyone else had this same experience? I'm guessing it'll get harder soon. Anyway: during the thirty days, my friend's birthday is happening in a week and we're all going out to eat at a hibachi restaurant called Sumo in Ithaca, NY. Check out the menu here: http://www.ithacasumo.com/ Also Easter is tomorrow and my grandma sent cookies for the whole family, which I don't have any problem resisting (at least for now, we'll see how hard it is tomorrow) and I'm the only one in my family doing the Whole30 and I don't want my parents to judge me or get worried that I'm "dieting" or trying to lose weight. I'm not. I simply want to feel better and have more energy. Also my mom's birthday is in a few weeks. And I'm taking a road trip next weekend. So any advice for eating out at a hibachi restaurant (does anything on the menu look Whole30-compliant, or should I bring my own food but then have to explain it to them?), road tripping while on the Whole30, and dealing with holidays/birthdays? I really don't think that resisting the food will be a problem because I'm very committed, but how do you deal with defying social norms and not eating cake around family and friends on special occasions?
  17. @Rania @Newlywed2017 @Keepnfaith Alright guys so it's been a few days! We've made it past the 1-week mark and today we are 1/3 of the way through! How is everyone doing? Quick check in: How are your energy levels? Any cravings? Best meal so far? Notice any effects on your body/life yet? Food most excited or nervous to try reintroducing? My energy levels are pretty normal. I haven't really had what I'd call cravings, just random thoughts of "Oh ______ would taste really good right now" (for me the _____ has been things I don't even normally have or particularly love, like cheetos, snickerdoodles, and swedish fish). My best meal so far is this awesome salmon with herbed ghee and balsamic that I made with a side of roasted brussels sprouts with compliant bacon. I don't really notice any effects on my body, no more energy than normal. I've been having vivid dreams that I remember every night though which is kinda strange. I'm most excited for Pirate's Booty and beans and peanut butter.

    Pre/Post WO Plan Help

@ShannonM816, @Marah I have similar questions, but I know much less. What should I be eating around workouts? Should I eat before and after? If so, how close to the workout? I do Les Mills Bodypump classes (an hour-long workout using weights that works all of the major muscle groups). Should what I eat around workouts change if I do different types of workouts (cardio like running vs. walking vs. Bodypump vs. cycling vs. rock climbing)? What is the science behind what foods I should be eating around workouts and even throughout workout days? Are there scientific resources you can recommend? I would appreciate some guidance! Thanks!
  19. @Rania that's so awesome! That must've felt really great! Good luck and stay strong on day 6! I guess "good luck" isn't the right thing to say, because it's not luck that lets you do Whole30, it's hard work!
  20. @Newlywed2017 all you have to do to tag someone is write an @ symbol and then start typing their username and it should pop up and you click on it! I'm glad everyone is doing so well and sticking with it! Personally I've been feeling pretty normal, maybe a little better than usual. I don't have that much sugar when I'm not eating Whole30, but I'm definitely cutting out dairy and bread and legumes and those are a slightly bigger adjustment. The major thing that has switched for me in these first 4 (going on 5) days is that I've had much more dreams that I can remember, which is super weird. I have no idea why but I heard another Whole30-er talking about how she had the same thing going on on another forum post. Weird! Some of the dreams have been about me accidentally cheating on the Whole30 and then feeling horrible and when I woke up it was such a relief to realize that I hadn't actually eaten anything off plan. Also, my mom joined in with me today! She was kind of inspired by what I'm doing. So she decided to do it with me! I don't know if she's doing a Whole30 exactly, but she's doing something similar for a month. I think she might be doing it more out of wanting to control her diet while I'm doing it partly because I like that control, but also because I really want to see how foods affect me with the reintroduction.
  21. Yay! I'm so glad you joined us @Keepnfaith !!! How's it going for you so far? How's your 4th day? How are your energy levels? Have you gotten any good advice about the Whole30 from anyone else? Any big challenges so far?
  22. ild228

    Starting today 3/29!

Hey @Rania, I commented on the other post that @Newlywed2017 put up, but I just came across this one, too. How are you so far? I'm the only one in my family doing it, too, though I'm trying to talk my mom into doing it with me. How was your first day? How's your second day so far?
  23. Hi guys! I started yesterday as well, same as @Rania. How's it going for y'all so far? Is this your first Whole30 @Newlywed2017 ?? What do you hope to get out of doing it?

    Should I trust my body?

Hi guys! Oh my gosh congratulations EllieHH on finishing your first Whole30! Today is your last day! How are you feeling? Also Michelle, how's it going for you? I'm on day 2 of my first Whole30 and loving it! I'm definitely still in the honeymoon phase, though. Any advice for me about the Whole30 way of life? Biggest lessons learned for both of you so far?
  25. ild228

Starting March 12th, 2018. Looking for buddies!

Hey guys! I’m on my first day of the Whole30, and it’s my first time! Day 1 went really well, but I imagine it’ll get harder over time. What’s your advice for me? What has your experience been so far? What have you learned from it? Why did you decide to do it?
