Starting July 9 and so excited!! Here we go!

@____Emily____ I took a 10 hour road trip during this. Just packed a thermal bag with my foods (Salad, protein, seltzer, fruit) and packed a paper plate and plastic fork and knife. i sell thermal bags, from small zip pouches to big ones for a week, if any of you need them going forward. www.personalizeorganize.com I totally agree that these final days are harder than the early days. Feels little bit like oh it’s no big deal to cheat. Yesterday was my hardest day because we spent the entire day in an amusement park. Had lunch before leaving and skipped the pizza etc to find compliant Park food... a baked potato with bacon (ok, sugar in that bacon is probable but i call it a pass with an A-) after that was the real challenge. We took the kids to Rita’s for frozen ice and custard. Normally, not a big 10 temptation for me. But they had cotton candy custard which is like the holy Grail to me. They never have it and it’s my absolute favorite. Even the kids were joking about how I had to have it because I haven’t had in years. I had two bites of my son’s and I now have a quart of it in my freezer downstairs. :/ Considering the temptation, I’m gonna give myself a pass with a C minus LOL no more cheats! 2 days to go!

@Karen Manis, stay strong. I was a student athlete as well. She can handle the calories from bad foods but it is not good for anyone to spike blood sugar levels with candy as a way to get energy. You are helping her learn to eat right now, before she goes to college or hits a metabolism wall. Lethargy seems expected from losing huge amount of carbs if that is what she is used to (pasta, mac n cheese, sandwiches, bagels, cliff bars...) but I don’t think dry heaving is from Day 17 of meats, veggies and potatoes. Look into why else that might be/happened. Why not let her plan compliant meals? Keep it simple... a meat, a potato, a veggie.

@pags98 I am with you regarding reintroduction. I am going to follow the reintroduction plan to try all but don’t plan to go back to my old ways. Hubby is on board too. We made written lists of “never” and “rare/small servings ” foods. Like, no processed white breads like bagels. Rare will be things like alcohol and dairy. So this program has definitely changed our lifestyle

Good for you, @____Emily____ Way to be committed and not put out those who put so much effort. My sister, BIL have done Whole30 before so they, and his mom (visiting from Croatia), made a compliant feast for sundays World Cup. It’s nice to have the support!! yesterday, for me, was a crappy day food-wise. Basically was hungry all day because I woke up an hour early due to rushing for something, skipped having a good breakfast. I ate a Lara bar for breakfast and worked through lunch. Hubby brought me a light salad for lunch. It had some deli chicken chopped in it (sugar listed on ingredients) oops. Another Larabar for a snack. So I was hungry, irritable and made poor eating choices. Positive: I swam 30 min and that shook for the irritability. Then we went to outback and I had a sirloin, shrimp, broccoli and baked potato which felt absolutely decadent but was only a 700 calorie dinner!! I never thought about the spices on the steak and shrimp. Another oops but today, Tuesday the /7th, is going great nice big veggie filled scrambled egg plate for breakfast and no snacks since then. .

Day 5 was great too. I did 20 min on spin bike and 20 min doing laps and treading water in the pool. My kids (8 and 11) had s’mores around a fire tonight, which happens to be my favorite thing, but it wasn’t torture to resist. They left the chocolate off so that helped. They didn’t ask me to have one and they put the mallows and Grahams away when they were done so I didn’t have to stare at it. I am down 5 lbs since we started! That is a lot for me. I wonder if it was mostly water I was retaining because now the diet is less processed and salty. I’ll take it. Those 5 were stubborn for a month before I started Whole30 .

Hang in there @nerdular! Do you have the book, to see the ”timeline”? How you are feeling is normal! i don’t seem to be following the timeline too closely. I did have some brain fog today... i worked all day, highly focused, and then I realized I lost a steak. LOL. Yup, a steak. I cut some in my salad and I totally remember that I didn’t use it all but we couldn’t find it at dinner. I guess I actually added it all to the salad to make more left overs. Bizarre that it is all a blur!

Yes, my husband is doing this with me. Thank god. That helps a lot. I’d let your 8 year old do it. It is healthy

@____Emily____I checked the book and you are right. Discouraged but not a rule. My husband is having the same issue... He needs mid morning and midday snacks. I said to try to make your main meals a little bigger perhaps but, ultimately, ok if you have that snack so you don’t binge on something off plan. I think your choices of snack are great. Maybe add a fat or protein to make it last longer. A handful of almonds. Just make it a plan and not a random grab.

@pags98, I don’t think leg cramps would be from too much water. Sometimes a banana helps, maybe the potassium. @____Emily____ hubby went out and got Califia Unsweetened Almond Milk. We found it on Whole30’s approved a list so it should be carrageenan free. @ohhey_cj sorry you had headaches yesterday. I feel like I am waiting for the crash and it might come more like Day 5-10 for me. Day 2 and 3 went well. Several meals based on leftover kale or wilted spinach with roasted potatoes. Had it with egg and bacon for breakfast. Had it with shrimp for lunch. Tonight we hosted family for dinner. Had filet mignon, mashed potatoes (only olive oil), grilled vegetables, sautéed mushrooms and berries. Guests had wine and Kids had whipped cream on their berries but hubby and i were strong :) House is stocked for a week of good eats. I might make mayo. And i need to do more research on my deli meats.

Hi! I started yesterday, July 9, so thought I might jump on your thread as an ongoing convo with others that have the same Days. I started because I have been counting calories and macros for 3 months and having a hard time with cheats and weight loss. April and May I lost 5 lb a month. June was flat and July has been creeping up. I need these 30 days to get back on track to where I wanted to be by now and create a new daily food relationship. Most of my calories had been coming from yogurt and cottage cheese and legume. Definitely sugars and dairy were part of my diet. The rest was pretty close to whole 30 Luckily, hubby is on board with me because we share cooking responsibilities and he loves beer, ice cream and peanuts. He also likes to bring me “treats” so it is so key that he is doing this with me. day 1 went great. We get hello fresh and had a box come yesterday because I forgot to cancel. We just adjusted the recipe and it was still yummy. Today, we realized our almond milk has sugar. Time to correct that.
