    Day 11
Meal 1: 3 eggs over easy, 2 pieces of bacon, baby carrots, an orange
Meal 2: chicken thigh (with the skin on, baby) pistachios, sweet potato and blueberry. (It IS very nice!)
Snack: Rx bar, walnuts, more walnuts
Meal 3: Leek and zucchini soup (From a book called Paleo Italian Cooking), duck leg, cran-cherry sauce, mashed cauliflower
NSV/Reflections: I had really low day. It look a lot of energy to do anything at all. The food was fine, and I even managed to get some veggies and chicken meal prepped, but wow was it a struggle to be actually productive. I did read quite a few cookbooks on Overdrive while I was procrastinating, though.
Even this low I didn't really feel tempted to quite. I think this is already just how I eat.

    Day 30
Meal 1: 3 eggs scrambled with chives, 2 slices of bacon, banana and blueberries with sunflower seed butter.
Meal 2:  chicken salad, avocado with hot sauce, glass of coconut almond milk
Meal 3: Italian wedding soup, almonds, banana
NSV/Reflections: I plan on writing a good long refection piece tomorrow, but in short, I don't plan on doing anything different tomorrow than I did today. I don't think there can be a better indication that this whole thing was a success.

    Day 9
Meal 1: 3 eggs scrambled with harissa, spinach, 3 1oz garlic and sage sausage
    Post-workout: Duck Soup
Meal 2: canned salmon, green beans, mashed sweet potatoes.
Meal 3: Pork chop, mashed sweet potatoes, caramelized onion
NSV/Reflections: I don't want to get excited, because it was only one day, but I think I'm starting to feel some of that magic. Not only did I set a personal record for my push jerk today, but I also hung from the bar without pain and ALMOST did 3 unbroken toes-to-bar. (I'm not counting it as unbroken because I had to do an extra kip in-between them, but there were 3 toes-to-bar in quick succession.) I've had this nagging bit of soreness in my right shoulder that only seems to manifest itself when I hang from the bar, and I got to say, if the Whole30 makes it go away, that might be reason enough to eat like this forever. It's keeping me from getting a pull-up and I will do anything to get a pull-up.
I packed a Lara Bar with me to work. For emergencies. I was pretty hungry by the time I finished teaching, but I decided NOT to eat it because I knew I would eat as soon as I got home. Go me.

Going HAM? What does that mean? My guess is running around like William Shatner of Star Trek in that episode where the transporter divides him into an evil half and a meek half. It's like that, right?

    Day 4
This morning I woke up just a giant unmotivated grumpy pants. "Kill All The Things" I think they call it. I got into a screaming match with my mother over lending her a cord to charge her Blackberry. (Apparently, I was speaking to her in a patronizing tone.)
Meal 1: 3 scrambled eggs with chives, an orange. This wasn't nearly enough, so after an hour I also had an apple and some almond hazelnut butter. (So good!)
    Pre-workout: egg muffin
Post-workout: butternut squash, kale, and Swiss chard with chicken
Meal 2: Trout with blueberries (so good! trust me.) Spinach and Green Beast dressing, more than a serving of walnuts
Around this time was when Kill All The Things turned into Eat All The Things, hence the generous helping of walnuts. It mostly worked, but I did eat an Rx bar in there somewhere. The blueberry flavour. I like blueberries today.
Meal 3:  Chicken, two tomatoes, and entire avocado (the whole damn thing, and not a small one), Frank's Red Hot chili and lime.
NSV/Reflections: Yeah, killing all the things. Even my coach today was, like, "you seem out of it." On the plus side, I made beautiful chicken bone broth, and a cran-cherry sauce (from the second Nom Nom Paleo book, but no honey) for Sunday. Apparently my grandma's making a cake. Sigh.
Oh well, tomorrow I get to max out my front squat.
Also, is anyone else just going through stupid amounts of eggs?

    Day 29
Meal 1: 3 eggs scrambled with duxcelles, 2 slices of bacon, half an avocado, blueberries
pre-workout: banana and tropical nut butter
    post-workout: Italian wedding soup
Meal 2: chicken salad, tomatoes and cucumber
Meal 3: rainbow trout with tartar sauce, pomegranate seeds
NSV/Reflections: Well, I ate too much today, or rather, this evening. I forced myself to eat the trout just because I hadn't had a meal 3 and man do I regret it right now. I feel like I need less food now than I did a month ago.
Like I said yesterday, I want this to be over so I can say I did it and I can relax a little about one or two things, but honestly, this is fine. I like eating this way, I don't feel deprived or bored, just occasionally mildly inconvenienced. And I wouldn't say that any miracle NSVs have happened, but I do feel more in control of what I eat. I still have major kinks to work out, like meal timing and a slight nut addiction, but I feel like I can figure those out with more time. I have a feeling that the reintroduction phase will be very eye opening. Like, that it will remind me what the "old normal" was like.

    Day 28
Meal 1: 3 eggs scrambles with chives, 1 1/2 slices of bacon, an avocado, raspberries
Meal 2: roast beef with mayo, spaghetti squash, broccoli and bacon
Meal 3: chicken salad (chicken, apple, celery, mayo), salad greens, pomegranate seeds, mixed nuts
NSV/Reflections: I think my cheekbones are more prominent.
I kind of can't wait to me done, just so I can say I did it. I've decided to slow-roll, so I don't expect Day 31 to be any different from Day 30 except I might have a tea that have vanilla extract in it.

    That salad sounds delicious.
I wonder if it's blue cheese specifically, or all soft cheese. Or, God forbid, all dairy.

My family get together is tomorrow night! So that’s when the cheese will hit! Or the wine, I guess it depends on how good the cheese is, and how annoying my family is. Or maybe nothing. Maybe I’ll be ok as I am.
Whatevs. That means today I stayed Whole 30 compliant.
Except, I did have have a swig of my husbands Diet Mountain Dew while cleaning dishes. It was pretty fake sugartastict.
Breakfast- two bananas- cashew butter- it’s my favorite
Lunch- chicken salad with apples, nuts, and cranberries. Left over mixed veggies.
    Dinner- smashed potatoes and sausage.
My husband almost brought home a milkshake tonight- but I told him I would be ready for a dessert on a special occasion- and today wasn’t it. Maybe Saturday. I’m at a Halloween Party with coworkers so I’m going into it open to indulging if anything seems like a good idea.
But if it’s not worth it, then I’m holding on.

    Day 22
Meal 1: Kale broccoli soup (all gone now), 2 eggs over easy, a persimmon
I put the eggs right into the soup!
    Pre-workout: walnuts, a lara bar
post-workout: Shepherd's pie, some broccoli slaw
Meal 2: Chicken Chowder (From Whole30 book), an apple, almonds
Meal 3: 6 Asian meatballs, zoodles, compliant marinara sauce, Lara bar
NSV/Reflections: Is it really Day 22? Trippy.
Yea, you read right, I had TWO Lara bars today. And more than one serving of nuts. I just want to eat everything in sight lately.
On a positive note, my friend at the gym told me I was looking buff. Maybe all those nuts are going into my traps.

    Day 28.. wait... Day 28!?!?
I had no food today!! It was a disaster!
Breakfast- banana with cashew butter, and holy crap, I love cashew butter.
lunch- epic bar. And that’s it. I’m not joking. I ended up at my sisters way longer than I thought, and there was pretty much nothing there.
    Snack-  another banana!
Dinner- so I went a little crazy  and made a potatoe and sausage mash with a fried egg on top. And it was amazing.
And tomorrow is Day 29, and next Saturday is my 15k. I’m officially feeling excited. I ran 9.13 miles today and didn’t have any crazy knee pain. So, I’m pretty much winning at life.

    Day 20
Meal 1: Frittata with chicken, onion, and greens; half an avocado, persimmon, pomegranate seeds
    Pre-workout: Lara bar
Meal 2:  pistachios, kale broccoli soup, shredded chicken
Meal 3:  Red Curry Shrimp Skillet, an orange
NSV/Reflections: I started a 6-week gymnastics course today. It's all about the hollow body position.
I dreamed last night that I ate pizza and then somehow justified it as not derailing my Whole30. I know we're told to expect weird food dreams, but the part about convincing myself it doesn't count is just classic Bachi.

    Day 4:
Happy "Kill All The Things" Day to me!
I woke up this am on my husband's birthday ready to go out to B-day breakfast and ask annoying questions of the server, make good choices, and drink black coffee and totally succeeded! Eff. You. Pan. Cakes. I was a bit too sad when I read that the only hot sauce they had contained added sugar, but... there was salt, so I survived.
That is where the "good" portion of this post ends because I actually did want to kill all the things today... not necessarily because of dairy/sugar/bread detox, but because I was nailed with the stomach flu. It had been a brewing since last night and took all day to ramp up, but it had me at super grump status from the get go. I all but told one of my classmates his constant interrupting was totally not going to be tolerated by me today, literally rolled my eyes at a professor (who am I? I really hope she didn't notice!), and cried when it seemed like my husband didn't like his birthday card. Sweet.
I had to skip actual dinner, but did eat some cucumbers and spoon full of almond butter and some tea.
Good physical things to mention, though, now that I got my gripe on (see?): Much less puffiness in my face (like much less), much less bloatiness in my stomach (literally, belly didn't soggy pancake over the front of my pants today, nor am I filling the bed covers with farts I was unable to pass all day. TMI? Sorry... but this is MY journal!), and yeah... those are the only good things, but those things are pretty damn good, considering it is only day 4!
So yeah... keep the black coffee coming, but also, buzz off until day 15 or whatever, interrupting classmate.

Hello forum! I'm Batya Chava, underemployed teacher, CrossFitter, tea enthusiast, mother, afflicted with bipolar type II disorder, and sufferer of frequent migraines.
    Why I'm here:
I lost 60lbs a couple years ago with exercise and calorie tracking, but since then I've found it hard to motivate myself to eat very healthy and not constantly "cheat." My diet isn't even close to as bad as it was when I lived off mostly pizza pops and Dr. Pepper, so I'm not really worried about being obese again, and I do hit the gym about six times a week, but the poutine and red velvet cake is holding me back athletically, and I don't feel like I have that "healthy relationship with food" that everyone's talking about. And my recovery sucks. DOMS lasts for days. The migraines. The medication for them is effective, but they happen way too often.  My mood disorder, on the other hand, has been very resistant to medication. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy helps, so does exercising regularly (seriously, it probably saved my life), but I'm still cycling. Like, I can hold down a job now, but I still spend months at a time depressed. I'm willing to try just about anything at this point.  I consider myself quite well prepared. I bought some paleo ketchup, made bulk breakfast sausage, and put all the dried pasta and sugary salad dressings in a box in the basement.
    Wish me luck!
