    Zoe's kitchen

I needed to see this. Thank you. I’ll just keep adding days until I get it 100%

    IHOP for mother’s day

God knows I’ve tried to stay compliant but outside of Zoe’s Kitchen there is nothing outside of my kitchen completely compliant. I’m gonna keep pressing on and just chalk it up to experience. I’m officially done with 30 days on the 15th.

    IHOP for mother’s day

My mom wants Mother’s Day at ihop and they use soy oil. I don’t want to disappoint her so what do I do? I’ve ordered the cage free omelette sans cheese but it’s looking like it’s gonna be another Whole30 fail/stumble for me.
  4. Suggestions on how to stay compliant at 3am would be clutch right now. Gotta work and my usual Sheetz run won’t cut it anymore. Send help lol

    We can do it hun!!
  6. I honestly haven’t read the Whole30 book yet or it starts with food. I picked up the Whole30 day by day book to be my guide when I restart on 5/1. However, I grabbed breakfast today at Whole Foods. Not W30 compliant but a modest portion because my first try with W30 at least taught me my portions to be full. I ate four pieces of bacon, a small portion of breakfast potatoes with peppers and onions and some scrambled eggs with cheese. Not super great but hey I’d been eating pretty clean since stopping my first W30 attempt, surely a little cheese wouldn’t hurt. MAN!!! I of course picked this up in the middle of a parts delivery and eating while driving. As soon as the food started settling I got sleepy. Thankfully I also had a coffee with me and it’s finally kicked in. But for a spell I was fighting to keep my eyes open on the road. Not cool man. It was “the itis” When the coffee lifted the sluggish haze, I came to the realization that the food I ate was directly responsible for the sudden onset of my sleepiness. And now the gas tearing up my gut. It quite literally starts with food. I realized my food should energize me, not zap it out of me. I adore cheese, but it may not adore me. Good food will not give you the itis. It’s that simple. Armed with this revelation, the time has come for me to Whole30 for my life.

    Bacon grease....

After I bake my Applegate bacon can I use the grease for seasoning? Is it considered animal fat? I’m from the south man. I’m used to saving my grease help lol

    Starting over May 1st

I’m going to recommit to my Whole30 on May 1st. I originally started April 15 but lack of planning and really understanding the program have hindered me. I’ve been sorta clean in the meantime but I know I am going to have to plan my meals because when I have nothing prepared at home it makes it easy to cheat and grab a non compliant meal. I’ve not had any fast food other than Chipotle and one desperate lunch at Chick-fil-A so that is a plus for me. I’m actually planning a grocery trip Sunday and plan on prepping for the whole month if possible and freezing a lot of my meals. I not ready yet but I’ll get there.

    Restarting/Vent

So I decided to also come really clean so here’s the redone post I’m going to restart my program. I don’t have an official date yet. Easter was a non complaint day. I ate a few pieces of candy, a bacon egg and cheese sandwich from Starbucks, put honey in my tea because my throat was killing me and the honey was there and easier to get then buying throat coat tea that morning. Dinner was just as bad. My mom puts butter in everything and so I ate without speaking up that I needed special preparation for my food. I ate some fried okra yesterday and some peanuts today because I was starving. I ate my grilled nuggets and fruit from Chic-fil-A only to be told those are also no good. like ugh I can’t eat anything anymore. I just can’t eat out. Nothing is affordable, convenient, and compliant. I can’t afford to eat Chipotle everyday and I’m tired of chicken, turkey, and salad greens, spinach and sparse portions of fruit. I’m always hungry when I comply. I’m trying to make healthy food choices but like I’m broke dude and I work 40 hours a week. The last thing I want to do on my one day off is cook. I don’t have the fancy kitchen equipment like a food processor to make my own sauces and the meal plans are daunting to say the least. I may have bit off more than I can chew by starting because it sounded good and I liked what I read on the website. I’m telling you all this because I’m trying to have integrity with myself and make that a ruling principle of my life. I started the Whole30 as a part of my spiritual journey. I felt like if I could completely honor my body and do this program then I could also discipline my mind. This program is challenging me in ways I never imagined. I love a challenge and that’s why I don’t want to quit it. How does a busy single mom successfully do the Whole30? I need support.

    Chic-Fil-A grilled nuggets.

Yes or No? I have no access to the seasoning ingredient list so if anyone knows, please chime in.

    I’m sick....

I know honey is “sugar” but my voice is gone and I’m exhausted with nothing else working to soothe my throat. I am expected to sing for Easter. Give me something I can use for my throat that is compliant please. If not I’m going to have to grab a bag of ricola cough drops and pour honey in my hot tea like I did before so I can make it through the day

    Rocky Start

Hey. I started my Whole30 on Monday. It’s day 5 for me and I am really just now committing to completing the program. I tapped into my inner Gryffindor and drove straight in without any real prep or anything. Day 3 I almost quit. I was like “I don’t wanna play anymore.” the Walmart rosemary chicken meal saved my program. Day 4 after staring at labels I looked up the quitting on the website and did the action item. My friend gave me some tough love and the chipotle bowl put my head on straight again. I’m pretty sure I’ve had plenty of SWYP with dry roasted almonds and fruit crisps from Walmart. I’m always hungry and idk if it’s cravings or my body isn’t used to running off of decreased portions that include no grains or cheese. I’m going to try and stick it out. Honestly I never knew that sugar was in EV-ER-Y-THING. (No wonder everything instant tastes so good) I’m limited on the money I can spend, so I’m doing the best I can to stay compliant. I’m not saying that I’ll be perfect (these GV potatoes O’Brien that I used in my breakfast casserole have dextrose in the ingredients list and I’ll drop my question about that in another post) but I’m going to try. Wish me luck. Leslie
