Good luck @cblarson. I think the best tip I can give is "be prepared" - it's so much easier to throw meals together and deal with the unexpected if you've done some work in advance! I heated up a pre-baked sweet potato to have with some defrosted pork chilli for lunch today. Thank you, me from the past!

@Jihanna Thank you! Data has always been my favourite!
@Mfaramchi let me know how you find the recipe. I am going to make it next week and have them with a salad for lunches.
I had a look and we only have one Orange Theory location in London right now. I go to the gym for weights 3 x a week (just doing my own thing) and try to run twice a week on the treadmill. I've started doing an ashtanga yoga class once a week in the last few months too which I really enjoy. But I think that over the last year even a good amount of activity hasn't been able to outweigh my poor eating habits. This is really making a difference. On Day 16 now!

Congratulations to all of us for making this happen! My Day 30 is also on Saturday and I will be extending for another four days and then I have a work dinner at my favorite restaurant so I will be indulging in my favorite burger and sweet potatoes of all time. I then plan to try a "Whole Foods February" and see how that makes me feel. I've always been Whole 30 or eating Lucky Charms and Mac n Cheese. I've never tried anything in between. So I'm going to see how I do just eating cleanly but not restricting things I know don't bother me like lentils and hummus and white rice.

@Mfaramchi Hi Maggie!
If you're craving chicken nuggets I really recommend this recipe. It's not a Whole30 one but I've made it in the past and everything but the sauce is compliant. I think I will make it next week and it is so delicious.
Congratulations on an amazing result in December - 21lbs is crazy! I can only dream of losing that much, but I have noticed on Day 16 that already my arms feel bigger in the gym so I think I am laying on some muscle which is great. I used to eat almost vegetarian and I wonder if I wasn't getting enough protein. I am eating so much meat on Whole30 and I think my body likes it.

I don't think of it as a disability; my brain just works slightly differently to a neurotypical person. Sometimes it is a benefit, for example, I find it easy to stick to new habits and rules like the Whole30. My autism very much makes me who I am and is responsible for a lot of my key personality traits so I would never call it a disability. Thanks for your concern though.
All going well as I hit day 5. Yesterday I made my own sauerkraut and also some mayo and ketchup for the fridge. I treated myself to some seafood for the next few days as I think I will finish my big beef roast today finally. And I bought lots more eggs. Still chomping through all the veggies in the fridge.

@Jmb369 well done for listening to yourself and not piling on the pressure when you knew it would be tough for you. I bet you will smash it in January.
I went over to a friend's house last night so four of us could play board and card games. I took a tupperware of leftovers and drank water. I felt a bit awkward a couple of times because the guy was putting away his beer or chocolate or whatever and didn't want me to feel bad about not having any when actually I didn't mind. I didn't want to feel like I was ruining anyone else's fun. But generally I had a good night.
I am just heading off for a long walk with a friend. I have almond butter sachets, olives, a banana and some toasted nuts in my bag as I don't think I'll find a compliant lunch today. I hope that's okay and that I deal with the unpredictability of not having a regular meal. I have ASD and always work better with a plan.
Hope everyone else is getting on okay.

@Jim Baunach Autism Spectrum Disorder, or what used to be known as Asperger's. Means I love a routine and get a bit muddled or anxious if confronted with the unexpected!

Hello everyone! I just started my first Whole30 today. Thanks to @kirbz for pointing me to this thread to join you all a day behind!
@Laura of The Great White North and @kirbz - I really relate to what you both said about healing your relationships with food. I have a history of eating disorders - previously it was more restrictive but I have had awful problems with binge eating/purging this year. It really hit home what you said about rituals with food and it being "mandatory" for certain events. I feel like it's impossible to socialise or celebrate with people without it involving drinks, a nice meal or going for coffee and cake and I really hope Whole30 nips that in the bud for me and helps me connect with people without food being part of the picture. Also, I have been going through a long-term break up for just over a year and trying to learn to spend time alone. I think I have realised that I have been using food to "fill the time" when I am lonely or don't know how to entertain myself and also as a way to "treat myself", e.g. going for a cookie and hot drink in a coffee shop because I felt I was going through so much that I deserved a pick me up and it was a "nice thing to do". So much to unpick and I hope that having some rules in place and a bit of tough love will bring me back to the right path.
I've done okay today so far; I've had some Nom Nom Paleo egg foo youngs with smashed avocado for breakfast and lunch, been to the gym and gone for a long walk so I've made a good start. Hope everyone else is doing okay.
