    @Lorna from Canada Thank you for wondering I got through Friday, had 2 fried eggs and a banana there as I never had a chance to get groceries.  I did try to change my soup up some and used stew meat. I found even browned that I did not like that as much so going back to ground beef.  I am trying to Donate or toss many foods that I have that do not meet Whole 30 so temptations are down.    

  2. I have been having rather vivid dreams which is strange as I am on medication to suppress dreams/night terrors. But I would dream I caved and have things I am not supposed to have. Then there would be guilt. I even had the thought today that since on Friday I have to go to the hospital, after fasting, for labs and other appointments at the VA and will be there for hours. I thought That for a few days I break the rules, because the VA's cafeteria is not really on the healthy side, (my nutritionist's words not mine) and I have nothing to take to stave off hunger. I have debated on setting a new start date of Feb 1st and attempt this again.

      Am I wrong for these thoughts? 

  3. So I am only 5 days into my 2nd restart, I started on the 5th I think then screwed up with a can of tuna (soy) and then a supposedly whole 30 safe jerky (brown sugar). But other than that I have been compliant, though it is still a start over.  So I have had urges, especially after the jerky screw up... I still feel drawn to things.  Funny story is I had stale Chex cereal and had run out of dog treats so I would give each one piece (They are small dogs).  They like them so instead of buying dog biscuits that are expensive vs how many you get I just bought a Family size box of Rice Chex (my least favorite) and put it in an old Cheeze ball barrel. So when I give them treats I "feed my chickens" as I toss a few down to them.   But last night I wanted to take that Rice Chex and have a bowl of cereal real bad.... I did not but wow the sudden urge caught me off guard and I laughed about it later about going back to old habits.


    Because when I was just a wee child my sister said my mother had to hide the dog biscuits from me.

    It does make sense. And I will stay away from them as both hot dogs and breakfast sausage were things I ate a lot, but compliant sausage in a meat sauce with never before eaten squash or zucchini noodles I think I can do especially as I kinda loathe zucchini 

  5. @Rebecca001 I have to find it but I have a roast pumpkin recipe that I got from a friend in Australia. I just thought of looking for compliant recipes that can use canned pumpkin as that is all that I think is available to me right now.  Am debating in my mind if I should add canned pumpkin to my soup recipe that I have been putting together. 

    I do hope that W30 is helping during your period and am sorry that you feel bloated :(  As for sleepiness I have been dealing with that but do not know if from W30 or Diabetes. I am keeping an eye on it and enjoying tea.  I miss my wardrobe, I got a nice real wood one when I was in England and when came back the movers had pretty much destroyed it.  

  6. Was really wanting some jerky so look and found Epic Bars. Now I know not all of them are compliant so I looked for the ones that were and got one of each to try them. I had the venison earlier this afternoon and enjoyed it, then after dinner decided to try the Wagyu beef steak stick.  Now I had passed on all with brown or maple sugar in them... but as I was finishing the stick I just happened to look at it and that was when I noticed honey was the second ingredient and I had missed it.  

    So back to Day One... I can do this, I will do this, I just need to be more observant.

    Pork sausage is’s on the list of protein, you just need to make sure that there is no sugar in it. Be careful with chicken sausage or breakfast sausage, those can have added sugar. hope that helps! 

    I will have to get some spaghetti squash, but I admit I have never had or tried to cook squash, unless you count pumpkin pie.  I will have to look up that book thank you.  My meat sauce though, funnily enough, is easy to make whole30 compliant as all I change is no Italian sausage. It is just crushed tomatoes, petite diced, tomato sauce and meat (may use venison) and add spices and let cook in the crockpot. 

    I did go searching and found this  They show even Whole30 compliant hot dogs and breakfast sausages... I will have to reread the book as my interpretation was that would be like making fake pancakes. 

  8. I have been doing ok.  Poaching eggs or making scrambled eggs using olive oil, black pepper, and paprika. And ground beef patties with spicy brown mustard.   In the evening usually grilled chicken breast and green beans. 

    Also am doing crockpot soup, diced cabbage, shredded red cabbage, shredded carrots, diced yams (instead of russets), sliced mushrooms, broccoli and cauliflower florets and ground beef then spices.

  9. I know this is a year after, but I found one tonight that was rather odd.. I was looking at "Lucini Everyday Balsamic Vinegar of Modena"

    The picture of the ingredients seemed plain enough


    It seemed rather straightforward until I happened to scroll down and Raley's just lists the two ingredients and fails to mention Sulfites. I was price checking so looked at Instacart, but they lists it as it also having Caramel Color which is not listed anywhere. Fredmeyer goes even further and along with Caramel Coloring it lists Sulfur Dioxide ( as a Preservative ).  Again that is NOWHERE on the bottle label that I can see.. they follow this up with a disclaimer that, "Actual product packaging and materials may contain additional and/or different ingredient, nutritional, or proper usage information than the information displayed on our website."  It feels like some sites just almost do a blanket "ingredients list" without really looking as what is in stuff.  

    Lucini's website states what is printed on the label... I think I am going to trust them and not the store.  I considered Pompeian Balsamic Vinegar as I usually use because when you look at the ingredients it just says "Balsamic Vinegar 6% acidity" without any other information.

    I am 38 years old and 24 weeks pregnant with my 5th baby. My other kids are 1 (2 next month), 4, 6, and 9. They'll eat whatever I make so it's easy to just change everyone's diet when I embark on this. Very grateful for that.

    So excited to start 2021 on this foot.

    I may have made a goof last night after eating some tuna as I noticed it was in vegetable broth and said there was soy in it. I had rinsed the tuna off but not sure if that negated the soy so I guess today was a restart? I will be getting different Tuna as I like it with Gideon's spicy brown mustard. Debating buying Ghee or attempting to make my own to have with green beans.  Will have to source approved Mayo for Broccoli as there is soybean oil and sugar in the jar I have >.> 

      One thing I wonder is about AHA drinks... I have a citrus and green tea that was delivered to me months ago by accident and it says

  11. This will be my first time and I started today. Part of me wonders if it was wise to do with unallowed food still in the house, but I have to have some control over myself... I have been unable to control my diabetes because I do good then binge and I really need to get ahold of things.   

    I have foods I love that works so am going to concentrate on those, but I am wondering if I give up potatoes, even though they are allowed, if Yams will work in my cabbage soup.
