  1. Days 1 and 2, done! Here's my daily log with details on my goals, meals, problem-solving strategies and random stuff I'm noticing along the way. Hope you're able to ride out whatever icky side effects pop up this week. They're not lying when they say it does get better.

    Jicama help

    Ditto what Nico said. I've always used dried, ground pepper. Cayenne is lovely. Chipotle is lovely. I haven't experimented much beyond that, so I'm curious how you like it with your spice blend. Oh, my gosh. You just inspired me to make a batch with ground cumin instead of chili pepper. Thank you!

    Jicama help

    A teaspoon sounds like a lot to me, but I prefer spices on the mild side. A light dusting makes me happy. For the more adventurous, get out the measuring spoons and add 1/4 teaspoon at a time until it's spicy enough to make you happy.

    Jicama help

    A friend from Mexico taught me this. It's so simple and so good. 1 jicama 1 lime, freshly squeezed Dried and ground chili pepper of choice (cayenne, chipotle, etc), to taste Peel the jicama and discard the skin. Cut the jicama meat into julienne-style strips (thick or thin, your choice) and place them in a bowl. Add fresh lime juice and toss to coat the jicama well. Top with ground chili pepper to taste. Serve immediately, or let chill in the fridge for about 2 hours if you need something extra refreshing on a hot day.

    July 1 Start Date - Who's with Me?!

    First of all, I am so happy for everyone's successes! You guys are incredible. That also applies to folks who slipped (like I did!) and who gained good insights about themselves in the process. During the last 30 days, I had 2 wildly non-compliant meals and enjoyed more seasonal fresh fruit and nuts than ideal. Given that, here are my results: Lost: 4 pounds since Day 1 1 inch of thigh and 1 inch of hip (the first places I store fat and the last places I lose it) Interest (for the most part) in stuff that's just not worth it Gained: Much better sleep Steady energy level, hunger level and mood Cheekbones More definition in the muscles I've been training hardest (especially lower body) I feel great and, given my lapses, feel no real need/desire to start reintroduction yet. So my goal is to start a fully compliant W30 starting tomorrow. Again, congrats, you rock, and I wish you guys the very best in your next self-care adventures!

I had a "moderation attack" after dinner on Day 26 without regrets (until I felt like crap the next day). Day 27 was spot on. Now it's Day 28. I slept really, really well last night and can't wait to work out and cook.

    July 1 Start Date - Who's with Me?!

    Rock-n-rolling my way through Day 26. Aside from the occasional dinner party (like next Friday, fortunately hosted at our place) I feel like I can do this pretty easily as long as I keep on top of meal prep. Good thing since I plan to make this at least a W45. Something cool happened. I had to buy new pants that look and feel spectacular. I'd write more, but I really must go refresh my memory of how great my butt looks in these pants. Later!

    July 1 Start Date - Who's with Me?!

    Day 21 Pretty much the same as yesterday. Snacked on compliant goodies throughout the day, not always with the best balance between protein, veggies, fruit and fats. We were out and about pretty much all day, and I relied too heavily on nuts for my fats. Stocked up on lots of good stuff for bigger, fewer, more balanced meals for the week ahead. That feels like the new normal now, so I'm looking forward to it. We're 2/3 of the way done, guys. So . . . happy third trimester!

    July 1 Start Date - Who's with Me?!

    Yesterday was Day 20. Everything I ate and drank yesterday was fine in terms of ingredients, but I did stray a little from the template by snacking on fresh fruit while we were out and about. Had my first food dream last night! I was at work, rushing from appointment to appointment, famished and had no choice but to eat whatever happened to be in my car. So I made peanut butter sandwiches with Reese's crunchy peanut butter and frigging half a loaf of Ezekiel bread. I inhaled like 4 sandwiches while driving to my next meeting. It was icky. Hope everybody has a great day!
