Yep, coconut oil can make your house stink, but it tastes good . Use it for frying, baking sweet potatoes (yum!), eating...

Coconut aminos are a soy sauce replacement - I've never tried it because it's $12 a bottle and I don't use soy sauce very often normally anyway.

Re: bones - "dog bones" are still bones! It all comes form the same animal . You could just cook a roast and then use the bone afterwards to make stock, if you don't want to buy them specifically.

I had a coffee in Denmark, WA (ie. tiny town in the middle of nowhere!) with hazelnut milk and it was amazing. I'd never had hazelnut milk before, gave the coffee a great taste.

Well you are allowed to have 2 servings of protein if you need it. This would be a question for the top dogs in all seriousness. I'd be scared I'd drop one of my very expensive pastured eggs trying to build a pyramid. And my floors are not really clean right now...and I would scoop it up and eat it anyway.

I am! I think one more would tip the ship. I remember reading in something Melissa posted that Dallas can hold more eggs when he is very hungry though.

Woolworths Select brand now has compliant liquid stock too - free range chicken, fish, beef and vegetable. It was $5.99 for 500ml.

And the Macro brand Dijon Mustard is compliant (and way cheaper than Maille - although I haven't tasted it yet, might not be as good).

I'm in Cronulla, I'm pretty sure the local health food store sells kombucha (not sure about plain/raw variety) but the main issue was I wouldn't have been home in time before closing to get some.

Not to worry though I ended up with a weird ACV/White vinegar/Starter tea mix and after 5 days of brewing I have a definite white layer formed over the top of the liquid and no obvious signs of colored mold which I presume is a good sign that my brew is going to plan! I've never tasted kombucha before so taste wise I won't have anything to compare it to but if it comes out anything like a bubbly apple cider I would usually buy from the pub I'll be most happy.

Should have 3+ litres by the end of it, only read after starting this that you're meant to start slowly with the amount you drink so it could last me a while

So my boyfriend and I are pretty much paleo at home- I am far more strict about it than he is (cheese and creamer in his coffee are the big things he can't let go...and beer. he likes his beer.) Anyway, he brings his lunch to work, which is usually leftovers from whatever paleo meal we had the night before.

I made a paleo Shepard's pie with mashed cauliflower on top. Apparently it was pretty fragrant when reheated- and people in his office complained. They sniffed around until they found his cubicle. "Oh, of course, it's Erik the foodie. What are you eating, broccoli? Ewww." (it wasn't broccoli at all, btw. I think they just don't know what real food smells like!)

He then proceeded to come home and look through all of our paleo cookbooks to find the most fragrantly annoying foods he could.

In December, his work was doing a Secret Santa thing. He knew the girl who was his Secret Santa liked to eat- so he put a note on her desk saying she wasn't to bring lunch all week leading up to the "gift exchange day" and that she should leave a note with anything she couldn't have or didn't like.

He then brought her a Paleo lunch every day that week. She was so excited at how delicious everything was, and told everyone that she had the BEST Secret Santa ever. And, of course, everyone was jealous and tried to find out who it was. (We even had to buy a different color set of tupperware so she wouldn't see Erik's lunch and figure it out... AND he made sure he didn't bring the same thing he brought for her each day...)

Well, when they finally revealed themselves, everyone knew it was my boyfriend "The foodie." He gave her all the recipes he made so she would have them for later.

And half of the people in his department asked if they could borrow our cookbooks to try. At least one is now a convert. And a few of them have bought paleo cookbooks of their own.

My not-so-paleo boyfriend, converting people to paleo so subtly they don't even realize it.

And his same co-workers call me "the girlfriend with the crazy diet...."

True, but that one life might last twice as long if you put some different foods in your pie-hole!

Awesome idea! Plus one for the n00bs right here ... Three weeks ago I didn't know what kombucha was, and now I (hopefully) have a pet SCOBY growing in my kitchen. Either that or I am farming mould.
Apparently getting into this makes you crazy so it'll be nice to have a place for us loonies to hang out together

Not really crazy, but- My husband and I were reminiscing this weekend about how we used to polish off a bottle of wine almost every Saturday night- always a fun, relaxing time. We discussed how we probably won't do that anytime soon. At the same time that he said "yeah, all those calories", I was saying "yeah, I really love being able to sleep and not having a stomach ache". I was so happy that the calorie thing never entered my mind- just the benefits of knowing how I will feel should I overindulge.
As a former WW girl- that is PROGRESS !!!!!

The cacao chai latte is the bomb. Seriously. Not a drop of sugar in it (I emailed and asked, plus you can buy the powder in the store), and it's so delicious.
Yes, Stock Merchant sounds right - it's white with a picture of a chicken on it (or a cow, if you get beef stock). I need to attempt stock again - I made it once years ago and stuffed it up and haven't been keen to try again. I should put my big girl pants on and give it a second go though.
I think the berries she's referring to are the Creative Gourmet Organic range - there was an expose on Today Tonight or one of those shows, about berries and pesticides (I didn't see it personally). But, Nanna's brand was deemed to be ok (they're the ones that come in the 1kg bags).

But if you can't exercise in a gym, what CAN you do there?! Oh, is it where you go to primp and flex your muscles while perving on yourself in the mirror?

My almost 16 year old daughter is along for this Whole 30 with me. She has been an amazing help prepping food, whipping meals together, etc.
She was in her bedroom and was about to light a really nice smelling Yankee Candle that she got for herself last month when we visited the outlet store. I walked by her room and saw her standing there, confused. She said " I just for a second thought I could not light this because it wasn't paleo".
It was a vanilla cupcake scented candle...

Um, I haven't eaten sugar in about 6 months, and I've told you that the elimination diet highlighted that I was gluten and dairy intolerant, so I'm pretty much Paleo now... And I never asked you to "keep up".

Not sure if you saw above, but you can get it at About Life - I've seen it at the Cammeray store, but I'm sure Rozelle and Bondi would have it too.

This has happened to me today, I posted in my log, however I feel like sharing in this thread too
I love liver and all organ meats. I am walking down the aisles of the organic store. I see this pack and get all excited.

Conversation while paying. Cashier: "Oh your dog is gonna love them!" Me:" I don't have a dog". Akward silence. I stare at the pack. It's a dog treat. Facepalm.

Bad news - I just found out the almond milk they use in the latte is sweetened with rice malt syrup. At least it's not cane sugar. Now I have to contemplate restarting (which isn't a big deal as I was planning on continuing past the 30 days anyway.
Ok I might see if I can get a chicken carcass from the butcher and make me some stock (I can't just buy a whole chicken and roast it cos it kind of freaks me out eating meat off the bone - drumsticks push me to the limit).
The free range butcher has a stall at the North Sydney markets this weekend so I'm going to stock up on a bit of quality meat too - going to give osso buco a go.
