Are you telling me I should put something into my body that is going to wreak havoc and I deserve the imminent sickness that will follow? Thank you...?

My husband had a discussion with a coworker this week and the price of milk came up. He buys his stateside (we're in Canada) to save money. My husband replied that we save money by not buying it at all. *insert coworker's jaw hitting floor* after my husband explained that we have gone dairy free, the coworker joked that he was going to call the Children's Aid Society because we are "depriving our children of calcium". :/

I've gotten this one before too...... People act like I'm abusing my child by not letting them have sugar, dairy, and grains.
I have a 16 month old and my grandma kept buying milk for her when she would watch her.
Me "Grandma I told you she doesn't drink milk"
Grandma "I've never heard of such a thing!"

I'm studying to be a registered dietician, so bowel movements are an every day normal conversation between me and my friends.
My favorite question has been when they ask "But how do you get fiber?? You need whole grains, you must be so constipated!!!"
To which I respond "I've never felt so regular and normal in all my life!" Hello, vegetables?? Oh goodness...

100% agreed. Also. Am I the only one terrified by Monsanto (and not in a silly conspiracy theorist way..?)

The "three meals a day, no snacking" does NOT apply to pregnant women or breastfeeding Moms. We need to get our calories in where and when we can, so grazing, snacking, or eating mini-meals is more than acceptible if that's what it takes to get food into your sleep-deprived, feeding-every-three-hours body.
Sipping on a can of coconut milk or snacking on olives throughout the day is a good way to get extra calories in, too. I eat a can of olives pretty much every day. Nuts and seeds are a good calorie-dense source too. I know we say not to crack out on them, but when it comes down to needing to get extra calories in, it's A-OK to rely on these cal-dense sources. Of course, if you find yourself blowing through a jar of Sunbutter every three days, maybe it's time to pull back on that one.
    Best,
    Melissa

I figured the savings from not buying wine made up for the higher food costs during my whole 30!

It's funny. I see all these comments that fruits and vegs are "cheaper at the farmers market than in the store". Not here. And I've been to Farmers markets where they sell bananas. I have yet to see a banana "locally grown" in the Chicago area.
