Can anyone explain to me why my co-workers think I don't eat real food? I don't bring these comments on. They come to me. Today I was digging around in my drawer of food in the fridge and one of my bosses came by and said "Is that whole drawer full of your food?".
    Me: "yes it is".
Him: "what have you got in there?"
Me: Ground Beef & Cabbage, homemade mayo, an avocado, homemade soup, some vegetable salad...."
Him: "don't you have anything EDIBLE in there??!"
    sigh...

    Me: No thanks, I can't.
Co-worker: Why? Because it has sugar?! You just ate an apple and THAT has sugar too! What's the difference?
Me: ummm... an apple has nutrition benefits?

I also have a lot of history with both WW and calorie counting apps so when I started my Whole30 it was very difficult to trust the process. I scoured these pages looking for an idea of how many pounds I would lose and never finding it. I decided just to arm myself with the meal planning template and hope for the best. I will tell you, I lost 15 pounds and 12 inches, including 4 from my waist and 2 from each thigh. BUT, more importantly I found a new healthier relationship with food. Trust the process. Eat like they tell you to eat and forget about tracking, counting, obsessing over how different this is than what you used to do, and DO NOT weigh in. It is so worth it. Trust the process and you will learn so much. Best of luck!

Danielle, first of all, losing 105lbs doing ANYTHING is awesome, so congratulations!
I know you know that this isn't about weight loss, but let me just reiterate:
This isn't about weight loss. Seriously. This is about changing your relationship with food. Regardless of where you are with your weight loss goals, the most important thing here, for the next 30 days is to stop/fix/change obsessive behavior and stressing about food. Food SHOULDN'T DO THAT TO PEOPLE!
Take the 30 days and trust the meal templating guidelines. Do NOT try to outsmart them. M&D have built them with their audience's number 1 goal in mind, even though that's not the point. Thinking you know better is a surefire way to sabotage yourself and your goals.
Focus on enjoying your food and not worrying about every calorie. Stop counting points!
Go for some walks, lift something heavy.
    RELAX!

I, too, have a positive! My aunt, the same one who was comparing this to Atkins when I discussed it with her, read the book I gave her. Her and her boyfriend are both doing Paleo now. I am so excited when she texts me about them experimenting with different veggies and meats. I feel less alone now. My mom called me yesterday and they want to have a Paleo meal for my brother's B-day! I come from a very stubborn family (I am stubborn myself) and I think it will be really great to see that same determined stubbornness used in application for a lifestyle change such as this. They all have really terrible health problems too (IBS, Crohn's, depression, CFS, high blood pressure, Type II diabetics). I hope this sticks. I fear for my brother's life, it's that bad. I just keep putting out the example, giving resources, and hopefully the people I love will see the positive change and want it too.

Ha! I'm sure there is so much avocado in those chips.
On a positive note. I have a friend who recently read wheat Belly so is off the wheat but constantly asking me about Whole30. Last night, she had plans for what to make for dinner but instead said "hey! why don't you come over and we'll make something from Clothes Make the Girl." Such a refreshing exchange.

I cannot imagine my life on 800-900 calories. My in-training breakfasts were regularly over 1000 (not that i would know, because i would NEVER count my calories)

I have to share. I asked my co-worker a question and then noticed that she had her headphones on. I walked to her desk and she goes: "I am sorry, I am watching videos how to speed up metabolism". The best part? Half emtpy box of shortbread cookies in front of her

That's your choice. I'm going to enjoy all the foods I eat with actual taste, my elevated energy levels, my mental clarity, and my lack of doctor's bills!
