    Starting April 6th

Greetings all, Day 4 and not feeling too bad at all, just a little tired. No sugar cravings, but I wasn't eating much before. Really missing my grass fed butter and yoghurt! The flip side of that is my usual spring hay fever symptoms- itchy, watery eyes, sniffles- are abating ( not that we are having any kind of spring here in new england! It snowed again this morning here!) Already getting a bit bored with my usual meals, it's great to see what you are all having for a little inspiration! Keep up the strong work everyone!

    Starting April 6th

I am starting my whole 30 on 6 April too. This will be my 3rd. I really need to reset and get back on track. I was in the hospital for 4 days last summer with diverticulitis and have been having trouble with it ever since. Struggle to keep to a paleo diet and get enough fiber in my meals despite eating lots of fruits and veggies. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Good luck to you all!

    J6 Reintro Thread

greetings J6er- reintro team. So finally had a glass of red wine last night- go figure, I didn't sleep all that well. Bummer. Well, guess I will limit the mommy juice from here on out. I have felt fine since non- gluten grains on Wednesday. My only thought was that I was more hungry after having gluten free carb so possibly my blood sugar bumps up a bit more? anyway, I think I plan on limiting non gluten grains to 1 time a day, if at all. Tomorrow is dairy day. Hoping that will go well, I miss the grass fed butter! I am going out to a nice Italian restaurant tomorrow night… there will be cheese! Interesting to note that so many of us( toni,rhed,Jan2014..) are gallbladder free. I had mine out 15 years ago, the typical "fair, fat &40" profile. Happy to say I am no longer fat thanks to paleo lifestyle, and far from 40! I always blamed bloating and GI problems on the gallbladder ( lack of) but once gluten was banished most of those symptoms disappeared. Go figure.. Carry on team!

    J6 Reintro Thread

Hey there J6ers. After a successful w30 I decided to try a structured re-intro phase. I did a w30 last year and just added back foods without a plan and I eventually found myself eating things that didn't make me feel well. No gluten for me going forward, I already know how it makes me feel, not worth it. I started with non gluten grains yesterday. Will be strict for 3 days and go dairy on Saturday. The entire W30 I was missing my red wine (mommy juice as we call it around here!) . Had a long shift at work yesterday, big snow storm here with a rough ride home- the hubs had a glass waiting for me at the door when I got in. "no thanks, I'm good" and I passed. Will wait to enjoy it with a good meal rather that chugging it down because I am stressed and tired. Love W30!!

    January 6 - Day 1

Greetings fellow J6ers- day 28! I am feeling good as I near the end of this journey. Over the course of the W30 I am feeling like I have lost weight ( all those Thanksgiving to New Years celebrations bad foods), clothes fit better, brain sharper and noticing better energy after a long day of work. Tiger blood? not so sure.. The bad head cold that clobbered me partway through seems to have sucked that energy out of me, but getting better. Over this time I came to realize that 1. I don't need a glass of wine every night to wind down, 2. I can socialize with friends and keep compliant, 3.I sleep way better eating this way- and that feels great 4. doing this with the support of this forum really helps make it work- thank you all and thanks to Robert2014 for starting it up. 5.Eating clean= Feeling better and that is a great reward. From here I will reintroduce some things- such as dairy, occasional white rice or potato and dark chocolate on rare occasion. This is my 2nd W30 and learned so much more about myself this time than last. I plan on adding a few days on to the W30 as I am still recovering from illness, and start to reintroduce foods next weekend. ( It's actually pretty easy for me to do this during the work week as I bring my food so no chance of non compliant foods.) Thanks to all of you for posting as you went along. There were some great tips, recipes, honest reflection that provided great inspiration along the way. There were some times when I wanted to quit, but I came here first and was able to stay on the path. Good luck to you all!

    January 6 - Day 1

Day 23 and still suffering with a horrible head cold. The Rhino virus kicked my Tiger blood's butt. ugh. However, still eating on W30 plan. Was inspired by NomNompaleo's blog post today and made a spicy tomato soup to try and clear up my head. I realized it is just as important to read medication labels as food labels. There are some crazy chemicals in those medications. One decongestant actually listed shellac as an ingredient. really?!! Those meds never really helped me much in the past anyway. My only attempt at bone broth tasted more like dish water so I have to work on that for future illness ( which hopefully will be never!) Hoping this turns around soon and tiger blood returns. Keep up the good work everyone!

    January 6 - Day 1

Day 20! congrats J6ers- almost there. I was feeling pretty good- don't know if it was Tiger blood but able to get through some long days at work- 10-12hr days, crazy cold & snow, without feeling exhausted or burned out. Yes, tired by the end of the day but not that exhausted- feeling like I-got run-over-by-a-truck kind of tired. Sleeping great. Much more energy and no negativity- my mood is really good. Then this morning I woke up and bam! Head cold from out of no where, raw throat, ear ache and generalized yuk. I have been eating Paleo ( not W30 strict) for over a year and rarely get sick so this is really annoying. Keeping to the plan. Eating some more citrus for the vitamin c and stayed in bed for the morning ( which I never do!) Hopefully it will pass quickly and that Tiger blood will come my way before day 30. Have a great weekend everyone.

    January 6 - Day 1

Hello fellow J6ers. I haven't checked in for a while but have been reading your posts. Glad to read that most of us are turning that uncomfortable corner and headed into a more manageable w30. I was so tempted to slip around days 7-8, really missing that evening glass of red wine! I am glad I resisted and now finding the day to day so much easier. My energy is up and the fog is clearing. Hang in there everyone- I am so impressed and inspired by your dedication to this process. This forum had really helped me keep it up- Thank you!

    January 6 - Day 1

What a difference a day makes! That, a good workout and 9 hrs of sleep have help helped me feel much better. Hope the tired/ cranky feeling is gone for good! The crazy food dreams have started. On my last W30 it was always about eating cake, last night a half a bag of M&M's chowed down before I realized my mistake. I always wake up thinking I really did eat the offending food, but once fully awake realize it was a dream. I am starting to find these crazy dreams very amusing. Anyone else having these dreams yet? Keep up the good work J6-ers!

    January 6 - Day 1

Hey fellow J6-ers. Woke up this am with a head ache and funny stomach. Didn't know what was going on until I read my Day 2 email! Good thing I did because I was prepared when "kill all things" started creeping into my life after 10 hrs of work. Food has been good- glad I cooked so much this weekend and could grab and go. Find I need to snack mid morning as I eat breakfast at 5:15 and am never sure when I will get lunch. ( work in an operating room). Anyway, keep up the good work everyone!

    January 6 - Day 1

Hi all, A big snow storm here in the Boston area gave me plenty of time to clean out the fridge and pantry. Tossed all the leftover holiday treats and got the shopping done today. Cook up starts tonight-and I will be ready for day 1 on Monday. I have been eating Paleo/Primal for about a year but over the holidays a lot of bad habits have snuck back in. Looking forward to the reset and getting back on track. Good luck everyone!

    January 6 - Day 1

I will be starting my W30 on Jan6 too. I was thinking of a Jan2 start but the holiday celebrations will continue through the first weekend. I will need time to clean out the kitchen and pantry! This will be my 2nd W30 - last one this past summer and I felt great. Looking forward to getting back on track again. This looks like a good group to follow along with. Cheers!

Starting Whole 30 on Oct. 1st! Anyone else?

I am starting my second W30 Oct 1 too- nice to have some company! My first W30 only lasted 28 days- went on vacation and fell head first into a glass of red wine! I plan on making it to 30 days this time. No excuses this time! Off to the store to stock up...

    MAYO!!!!!!

I just started making my home made mayo and it's great. My first batch "broke" but I was able to save it - good video on NomNom Paleo on how to fix. I went back to my old Julia Child- Mastering the Art of French Cooking and read that "The maximum amount of oil one U.S. large egg yolk will absorb is 6 oz or 3/4 cup. When the maximum is exceeded, the binding properties of the egg yolks break down and the sauce thins out or curdles". I now use 2 egg yolks for 1- 1/2 cup oil, immersion blender and it never fails!
