    Starting September 1 - Who's with me?

Day 1 in the books, off to day 2....I have a turkey curry simmering (ground turkey, can of tomatoes, Red Boat Fish Sauce, black pepper) that we're eating over steamed and riced cauliflower and broccoli (there was NO frozen cauliflower at my store the day I went shopping, whoever is scamming on all my cauliflower had better cut it out). Usually one of my meals is a portion of whatever we had for dinner....I work night shift so I'm all backwards and turned around in case what I post makes no sense with the day. I started tapering off a bit a few days before I started with dairy and I cannot believe how only two days dairy free makes me feel less bloated, my stomach feels light and I notice a difference in how tightly I can do 'crunches' in my yoga program. I just feel cleaner. Hard to explain.

Good morning! Spinach, mushroom and red pepper scramble in the works for breakfast, got some chicken on the grill for my husband's dinner (he leaves for work at 1pm) and I'm making a big salad for both of us for the chicken to go on top of. By now my neighbors are used to my firing up the grill at 09 30. Have an amazing day!

That is a comprehensive and very helpful list of suggestions, right there. I am really excited to begin.

I have, in the past, cooked a bag of steam in bag cauliflower and then just dumped it in a bowl and riced it up with two sharp knives. If I am mashing it I tend to get that kind because it is just the right amount for two of us. Another 'when you can be bothered' shortcut...if you want to saute some cabbage for a dish...cole slaw mix. Right in the pan.

Those of you who are doing this for a second or (more-th time)...how about helping out the new folks by posting a link to one of your favorite compliant meals? Here's one of mine. We eat it with steamed and riced cauliflower. http://paleofoodiekitchen.com/2013/06/ground-chicken-curry/

Hello! I am starting Sept 1st. This will be my second Whole 30, I've been primarily Paleo for three years but I find I need to tighten up on my day to day meal guidelines every now and again. I'm actually looking forward to it because I know how good I feel when I do it. @NancyW, I did the emails when I did my first Whole30 and found them very helpful and encouraging.

@greek to me I eat nuts sometimes but because they are a thing I personally tend to overdo really easily, I'm cautious with certain ones and I try to avoid certain oils so I lean toward raw nuts when I have a choice.. I also learned from my first 30 that I am one of those people who is very casomorphin sensitive so I do best and feel best dairy free.

I exercise more, because I have more energy and my body no longer hurts everyday, but I'm no treadmill slave. I get outside and hit trails on foot or on my mountain bike because I enjoy it. I count nothing but carbs. I tend to follow Mark Sisson ' s philosophy regarding exercise.

    Salad dressing?

I'm lazy, so sometimes I just put a little olive oil, vinegar, herbs, paprika, salt and pepper in the bottom of the bowl, whisk it up,and toss the greens in it.

Crossing the finish line on 100 pounds in December

I went wheat and sugar free last September, and eliminated all processed foods, vegetable oil, etc,so that is how the weight has come off,I keep the carb intake around 50-100 g a day. Thus far this worked for me. Doing the 30 showed me that I am very sensitive to dairy, and that I both lose steady without it and feel better. But old habits creep in, standards get bendy, and once in a while doing this helps rebalance everything and keep things moving. Climb a mountain like a 200 pound loss and you need to replenish your gear and sharpen your pick every once in a while!
  11. I am ten pounds away from a hundred pound loss and I figured that the best way to sprint this last ten pounds is to do another Whole30. Had a great one in July and I'm committing to ending the year strong, clean, and consistent. 2014 —year of the SECOND Hundred! Heck yeah !

"An inanimate object that spends it's life lying on the floor next to your toilet should not be given the power to break your heart." Best quote from the book I'm reading this week, called "the Paleo Coach". He talks a lot about how peak performance, not aesthetics, should be our focus. You may have seen those side by side photos on Facebook or elsewhere of the lady who is the same weight in both pictures but her body composition is completely different? This is the guy who took those photos. I'm thinking a lot about what he's saying. The idea of putting my scale away indefinitely scares me at this point because I'm still working on the first 100 pounds and even though I'm almost there I guess I still don't entirely trust myself or the process. The second hundred... I may put it away for a few months.

I realized today that when I'd gone to the bathroom I didn't unbutton my jeans, just pushed them down out of habit thanks to all the elastic waists I wore for years. Guess who is wearing a belt right now. :-) I figure I'm about 2-3 weeks from downsizing for the third time.

I hope everyone is doing well....sorry I haven't been on much but I've been draining the dregs of summer as the leaves begin to change here in the Twin Tiers....I weighed early because Friday was my one year anniversary wheat free, so I thought I'd share my blog post for the occasion. Rock on, good gentles.

@drtracyb I understand that it can seem overwhelming... I save money by planning meals that I know I'll get several meals from. I might roast a chicken, then make bone broth from the carcass, then make a pot of soup with the broth. I plan chili and stews so I can get a couple of lunches and a dinner. We don't buy a lot of the extras, we just focus on vegetables, eggs, and the best meat we can afford.
