I stayed home yesterday to rest and cook! Tons of veggies, turkey breast, Well Fed 2 Taj Mahal Chicken. That was delicious, the only problem was I had leftover raisins from the recipe and couldn't resist snacking on them. Next time, I will buy only what I need for the dish from the bulk food section so I won't have the temptation. So even though I haven't been perfect, I feel really good about only having W30 compliant stuff going into my body. keeping my other commitments too.
I have a conference this week, drinks meetings, cocktail parties, etc. but I'm planning on sticking to spruced up seltzer and eating before the parties so I don't get tempted by mystery food. Have a great day all.

A small victory: got home last night utterly exhausted and stressed. My usual go-to for relaxing would have been a glass of wine. Instead I sat down and rested for a bit and hen made myself a huge compliant salad. No wine necessary!

I started yesterday as well.  Had a little trouble last night, but made it through compliantly! Slightly different challenges from the rest of you, I'm super-busy but live alone and it's often hard to get myself to prep and cook just for me.  I hope this thread can help me stay strong!
    Have a great day, all...

I know, I know, I should make my own.  But that's not really practical most of the time.  Has anyone found a compliant beef broth or stock?
    Thanks.

I really struggle with this too, and am trying to find ways to break this habit.  It occurs to me now that coming on line and reading what other people are up to might help.  If the urge strikes tonight, I think I'll try that.

I have had similar problems. Felt great on my W30 over the summer but slipped and slid back to old habits, now I'm feeling horrible. I'm on my 3rd day and it's hard, but I really want to make it through and be able to keep on track. Hope we can help each other!

Hi everyone.  Sadly, I had to have a medical procedure yesterday (all is fine) and the prep included drinking sugary stuff.  So I'm back to day 1.  I have realized that it's not realistic for me to do a true Whole 30 right now -- the Hartwigs are right.  It's too much to ask at this time of year.  HOWEVER -- I am committing to limiting my off-roading to a little bit of alcohol when I'm socializing and a little bit of dairy.  I will still focus on cutting out grains and sugar, and on preparing healthy food and sleeping enough.  That's the compromise I need to make.  I'm going to hang around on this thread if it's OK with you all.  I am inspired by those of you who have the grit to go all the way!

I've treated myself to Well Fed 2 and am looking forward to making some new recipes this week that will cover me for my at-home and at-work meals.

Hope everyone is well.  Rock on!

Sorry you are feeling unwell, Trine. Hang in there, drink lots of nourishing bone broth and rest up!
Thanks, Roz! I won't consider it a restart. It was a delicious homemade dressing in a huge and delicious salad. When I asked my friend she said there was some sugar in it. I mostly stopped eating it then. Not completely, I'm afraid, but mostly. Fell into the trap of not wanting to offend my friend. Ugh. I hate imperfection! ;-)
Yesterday was exhausting but mostly a triumph. Hurrah!

Got through yesterday pretty well. I accidentally ate a little sugar in a salad dressing my friend had prepared, and probably too much fruit sweetened stuff altogether, but I feel quite proud of how I managed. I'm going out to lunch today with friends and I hope to find something that feels indulgent without being out of bounds so that I don't end up in a feeling-deprived-backlash. It's a beautiful day and a long weekend, so I hope that's enough to keep the sugar dragon quiet!

Made it through Thanksgiving day fine and then learned the salad dressing had some sugar in it. Guess I have to start over. I am super bummed.

My slippery slope is not a particular food. It's fatigue and habit. It's too familiar to day "just this once." So that's my personal struggle.
I'm excited about my family's Thanksgiving menu! Turkey is a no-brainer, and we do lots of veggies roasted in olive oil (I haven't gotten me turned on to coconut oil yet!), a big salad, crudités with drinks before, fruit to go with dessert. This year there will also be potato pancakes, tha I will skip because they are made with flour. Because I'm gluten intolerant I asked the baker in the family NOT to make a special pie for me. Oh, and I've tried the W30 cranberry sauce, made with apple juice, dried figs, and orange. I plan to eat a proper breakfast so I'm not starving, we eat dinner at around 5, and then I can have a small meal of soup if I'm hungry before bed. As I've said before, the only thing I will miss is some nice wine with dinner. Oh well. It's worth it.

Trina, tacos sounds yum.  I have a friend coming for weekend and am still trying to decide what Whole30 deliciousness to cook.  probably a casserole of some sort, but undecided.

    Hi
I'm on day 3. And I believe my carb-headache is done for because even thought finding sleep went slow yesterday I slept very well :-)

Also, I was out eating dinner yesterday. First we went to a thai restaurant. I asked: What dishes does not have sugar in them? My answer: none.
So we went to another restaurant where I had steak and great veggies slow cooked in oliveoil. Yum

I'm preparing for taco night with my brother and his family this weekend making taco spices to have in my minced meat and homemade salsa. I use salad, little gem, instead for taco.

Yesterday went much better for me.  I had a mini meal late in my work day and then a smaller dinner when I got home.  I remember now that I was very hungry for the first few days on my previous W30 as it took a while to adjust my portion sizes and menus to stay full enough. slept much better last night too!
Have a great day (or evening for those in a different time zone!).

    Hello all -
Take a look at the Christmas Whole30 thread.  A few of us also started on Nov 25.
I did a Whole30 over the summer and felt great but have slipped in and out and ended up more out than in.  And feeling lousy.  Although in some ways it seemed nuts to start Thanksgiving week, that actually can be a very paleo friendly meal for me so I decided to take the plunge.
Wishing you all very good luck.  I love the way this forum helps people support each other!

OK, now I've officially added Norway to my "must visit in this lifetime" list!

Made it through Day 1 with no major hassles.  Not so easy since my work day was 10-8.  Today it's 9-8.  Man was I hungry by the time I got home! Need more snacks today.

I did turn off the TV and get into bed on time last night but sadly, slept badly.   Woke up hungry  Ready for the day

Trine, I read the same article and it made me hesitate. But I decide there's no rule that says we have to over-indulge at this time of year. Yes, there may be a few special treats around, but isn't it really supposed to be about family and friends and fun? The thing that gets to me is walking into every store and seeing displays of sweets. I try to remind myself it's just a marketing ploy and I don't have to respond.
Roz, is love your venison stew recipe! I used to live in the UK and did learn to love a traditional Christmas dinner, but it's hard to find mince pies and Christmas pud here anyway! Our Thanksgiving table (that's my family's big holiday, not Christmas) always features lots of lovely roast sweet potatoes, parsnips and squash along with lots of other veggies, so I don't miss the mash. And we aren't a marshmallow family! Last night I made the W30 cranberry sauce; I'm worried it might be a bit too tart for most people so I thought I might add some organic unsweetened applesauce. Tat will keep it compliant!
We have a big party Thursday morning as well as dinner that day. I bought 12 boxes of donuts. When I read the ingredients I was totally turned off. No conflict for me there.
And for everybody who isn't up for taking the plunge right now, just being mindful will probably help you get brought the holidays in a healthier way. Good luck!

You are right, my lunch was not substantial enough.  I am planning better today.

If I remember correctly, your eczema flared up at the beginning of your last W30.  Probably your body trying to expel all the bad stuff it's been carrying around.  Hope you're not too uncomfortable.
