I work and go to school. About to run my first marathon. Dabbled in cross fit but its too expensive but I do enjoy lifting. A bit of a food addict.
  1. I am just wondering what some of you whole 30'ers out there like to do for your exercise. I JUST ran my first marathon, glad that's over with so I don't have to do it again, hah no I actually enjoyed it but man seriously who has time or wants to go for a 3 hour run on a sunday...NOT ME!! I love the results from lifting, as I want to lose fat and get some definition, but I always get overwhelmed at the gym and which muscles to workout and how to separate my workout days etc. thought about yoga since im rather tightly wound ( whole 30 should help though because I also decrease my caffeine consumption) but I am just wondering what other people out there like doing or what exercise routine they are in.

day 5 and worst run ever. marathon in 2 weeks

day 8- the hardest part of the day for me is around 2 to 5 that window is dangerous. I notice myself wanting to fill this hole inside of me and food is the easiest drug of choice for me. Ive been sober for 4 years so I know that this is totally my food addiction kicking in and wanting to fill that void is common. But I now have a window to look at whats going on. I don't always act appropriately but its a start. Im usually angry lonely or tired. I commented that in anothers blog but I felt like writing my own on it as well. Food has been my go to for SO long that I know I cant expect to be a full blown perfect paleo eater after 8 days , which is what id like. When these feelings in the afternoon come up I am trying to work through them. which I don't actually know how to do but just recognizing is a start. Just stopping when I feel it, and I feel it FULL FORCE, like a brick wall. I get anxious and cant sit still. All I want to do is eat something its like my way of calming down. Looking for and trying new techniques. one day at a time.

Day 1 of Whole 30 TODAY!

way to go on fighting the urge to binge!!! I have had some of those too. its funny how now I have a few minutes to stop and look at why im feeling that way and what exactly im trying to do by eating. Because I am NOT hungry I know that. I am usually angry lonely or tired. but its nice to recognize those instead of just eat

day 5 and worst run ever. marathon in 2 weeks

I usually have sweet potatoes 2 times a day. or if they are large half at breakfast and half at lunch, then spaghetti squash at dinner. is that TOO much?? never again do I want to relive the cabbage run.

I love the honesty!!! try not to think of what you cant have and think of all the yummy stuff you CAN have!! im going to Powells Book store to pick up some paleo cook books because I feel the same.So far all ive been eating is chicken or steak , broccoli or zucchini and sphaghetti squash or sweet potatoes. I need some variety - some new flavors to excite my tastebuds. Have you been to I LOVE HER! and she has great recipes, not all are compliant with whole 30 so read through it first but several are. Hang in there lady!
  7. worst run EVAAAA! only went 7 today. ok so I did eat half a head of cabbage last night which was the WORST idea ever. thank god I was running outdoors but the cramps oommgg. horrible. but I also just felt horrible. Legs were heavy, and I felt really slow, I could feel myself working and normally well I don't. i don't even realize im running most of the time. Honestly getting a little worried about this meal plan and the marathon. The actual run is Oct 6 :/

    Stuck in a veggie rut

roasted parsnips are probably the best thing in the world next to puppies
  11. So i have had an eating disorder since at 14. Started with anorexia. then turned to bulimia at 18 along with alocholism. I have been sober over 4 years now but the bulimia has been a whole different monster. Id LOVE to do a long term residental program but that is SO expensive. To give you an idea of the extent of it i can binge purge anywhere from 1 to 16 times a day. Its my way of coping. Its such a habit now. I got into this program because i like the structure and support of it. But im wondering if anyone can give me any feedback on this.
  12. thanks for posting this and thanks for the response! I am just finishing up day one and that's already the hardest thing! hah

    Starting Whole30 during marathon training?

yikkkess I just paid to start TOMORROW and my marathon is OCT 6th! but my food has been horrible so I was hoping to start this now and have more level energy levels than what ive been putting myself through. Thoughts on this? am I going to die during the marathon? also I am still not getting a clear answer on if we are supposed to eat a Pre and post WO meal/snack.. If I run 8 miles. do I need extra fuel? my last long run ,16 miles, is tomorrow then just shorter 5-10 mile runs till the race. like the above question.......what should I be eating for these pre and post wo meals , do I even need to with the 5-10 mile runs Sorry for all the questions!
  14. HELLOOOO all! Been checking out this site for pretty much the entire day and I keep finding more and more great stuff!!! Tomorrow will be day one. scared. I am a pretty healthy person. but I can already feel myself getting overwhelmed with the whole paleo thing. The idea of NONE of something freaks me out. I have been looking up tons of recipes which is why I think im overwhelmed. Im horrible at keeping things simple. im thinking for the first week I will just eat very basic meals. A few questions! I am training for a marathon. I read about the PWO meals. So does that mean on days I run 5 to 15 miles and or lift-Have an extra snack before AND after??? are we only supposed to have 3 meals no snacks?? Also- I work in a hospital and my days are LONG 7 am to 7 pm Im very worried about when to eat my meals, the times. and should I have snacks?? I leave my house at 630 am and get home around 8 pm Im sorry if these questions have been asked before. Theres so much info on this site I may not have stumbled upon it yet. But if you have any ANYTHING to tell me, offer me, guide me, its all welcomed!
