  1. I work for a scientific consulting firm and every quarter we do a 2-hour "Science Club" meeting. It's basically a chance for the employees (there are only 8 of us) to take a break from our work and learn about any science-related topic, presented by one of the staff. This quarter is my turn to host it and I thought, what better topic than Paleo/Whole30! I don't want it to be preachy... I basically just planned on outlining the very basic science behind the Paleo diet (published study data, etc.), but I also want to do something fun and interactive. Yes, we are a bunch of nerds. Oh, and Science Club usually involves food and booze... so I want to keep it light, fun and interesting. I figured it would be a good idea to call upon my wonderful peers in this community since I am really NOT the creative type! Any ideas??? I was definitely thinking of bringing in some kind of Paleo snack... but what else can I do? Thank you all in advance for any ideas!
  2. non-dairy creamer for coffee?

My friend recommended "Bulletproof Coffee" after I asked the same question. It is SO GOOD. Directions: Brew coffee, throw in a spoonful of ghee, a spoonful of coconut oil, whip with an immersion blender for 1-2 minutes. I don't know how, but it comes out frothy and delicious. Might be a little more work than your typical morning brew, but sooooo worth it.
  3. I am guessing it's some kind of lettuce, but the roots are throwing me off. Can't wait to eat it, just not sure what to do with it!
  4. The crazy things people say

"You'll just gain all of the weight back when you start eating 'normal' again." Gee, thanks. And define "normal"!
  5. I've gotten two large eggplants in my last three CSAs and I'm running out of ideas for what to do with them. So far I've roasted them, made a Whole30 compliant rollatini-type dish, and one lasagna-type dish (no pasta, but it had cheese - for the BF). I'm not a big fan of baba ganoush. Anything else I can make with these puppies?
  6. The crazy things people say

    "So what DO you eat???"
  7. The crazy things people say

"So how do you get any fiber???"
  8. The crazy things people say

After I finish explaining briefly what paleo/Whole30 is: "So you're doing Atkins?"
  9. My Parents Smoke

I'm ashamed to say I've done a Whole30 (2 years ago) at a point when I still smoked. I still saw results, but I am in no way condoning this horrible "cheat". I think you would still benefit greatly from a Whole30.
  10. I thought it might be fun to start a thread with the crazy sh*t people say. I'm sure we've all had experiences where we go WTF? Did they really just say that? Sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's just sad. I'll start. "It's OK to eat [white] potatoes if you boil them. It removes all the starch!" -My Dear Grandmother "Here, I made fresh homemade lemonade and there's no sugar in it... only corn syrup!" -BF's Mom
  11. What's for Dinner?

Broiled halibut and summer squash soup!
  12. Macaroni Grill- A Little Foolishness

I love using homemade mayo as a base for creamy salad dressings. My favorite is mixing in some garlic powder, dried basil, dried oregano, paprika. I add a little water to make it the right consistency. Comes out tasting like a ranch or creamy caesar.
  13. OK, time to brag...

    Congratulations!!!
  14. What's for Dinner?
