    Booch is back in my life. Just started the SCOBY from a bottle of GT today. I miss it. I vow to not freak out when I have too much booch and too many SCOBYs to handle.

    Nadia that is one of my favorites. I did use quite a bit of melon and one leaf (maybe it was two) of mint per 16 oz bottle.
    I keep eyeballing the golden beets. Hope my SCOBYs are ready soon so I can get back to flavoring. Maybe they are ready now. They are about 1/4 inch thick.

    Suth_n..adding the candy during a W30 is not okay. The sugar has no SCOBY to eat it during the second ferment. However, have at it when not on a W30. Don't tell anyone, but I add a tsp of raw honey to my second ferment when NOT on a W30. Just between you and me. ;0)

    I am not sure where you read occasional fruit. The book simply states you shouldn't eat it alone and you shouldn't eat so much that it crowds other important items off your plate. Do you have a sugar dragon? I do, so I choose to rarely eat fruit. You don't have to eat any if you don't want to. Many consider one to two servings a day to be reasonable.

    Great post Robin. I take "the rules" very seriously and feel by following them fully, I get the most that I can from the program. I will start prefacing my comments with "what works or doesn't work for me is...." so that maybe it resonates with someone who also does best by being a stickler but does not discourage someone else who needs a little flexibility inside the guidelines to stick with it the entire 30 days. :0)

    Derval brown stuff is to be expected. The goo is the yeast and brown is tannin from the tea. Dont clean it off like I did. Love that Lily is so involved. Do they do Show and Tell at her school? Some kids bring turtles..Lily can bring a SCOBY.

    Lol KB..no worries. You can always bottle (to stop the vinegar process) and then flavor when you have time to shop for things.

    Well my two batch jars are officially grounded. I will add one of those SCOBYs to my CB and the other will reside in a hotel until I can find more fans of booch. Look at all these. I dont even drink a full one a day. Maybe I should start. :0) Golden beets, hibiscus, dried ginger and figs in all sorts of combos.

    I couldnt resist trying my hibiscus and dried ginger that KK sent me so I took a plain bottle from the fridge and put 1/2 tsp of each. Oh my..hibiscus is amazing. Also..maybe because of third ferment overnight, fizzy like Mt. St Helens. The color after just 24 hours is amazing.

    Yes I think peeling them is a good idea. I saw something today that jumped out at me at the store but I dont remember what it was. FIGS!! I was intrigued by that idea. Maybe fig and dried ginger. It says on the package of ginger and hibiscus that I should use 1/2 tsp per 16oz. Such a tiny bit. I'll have to see.

    Yes after it cools down to room temp so everbody is the same or close to same temp.
