I remember the feeling. Once they form a film like that they thicken up fairly fast. I think it will be fine to move by the time your booch is ready.

Nadia may have figured it out. So exciting. One tea bag = one tsp. 3 tsp = 1 TBS.
They are super fun to touch. Very spongy and slick. Hubby should touch it too. It will be fun for him.

Omg...fizz totally figured out. One tea bag = one tsp loose leaf tea. When Hannah at KK was trouble shooting the fizz factor, she asked me if I had tried to increase tea strength. I didn't know she meant triple it.

Omg...yes!! Happy SCOBY to be. Kb and the rest of you...you will wish your chilly weather would stick around. Seriously my babies are having babies and I am frantic

Lol...my SCOBY's baby was a funny looking kid. I say that with motherly love. They get bumpy because of the gasses working their way to the top. They also get oddly brown from the tannins in the tea. All good stuff.

Holy Halloumi (for you Derval). Babies are forming already. Both SCOBYs are deep sea divers but new babies forming after just one day?

Then she said "I will never take a sip of it". Huh. She said John's mom dropped dead in Paris. I asked her if she blamed Kombucha. She said "no, honey moo but I will never try it". Sigh

That is different but the sugar will still get eaten and Derval may end up with a fizz fest because of more sugar and stronger tea.

Percy the formula I use is 4 cups of water to 6 tsp of loose leaf tea (or 6 tea bags). I let it steep for ten minutes. Then I stir in 1 cup of sugar. After dissolving, I add it to 8 more cups of water. Boom..booch food.

Lol..glad you did not pass away from catlessness. Kind of reminds me of when my daughter told me that if I didn't let her have a bowl of sugar for breakfast, she would die. I am happy to report she is still with us.
SCOBY looks happy. Bumps and brown colors are from gasses and tannins from the tea.
