How will your baby get enough nutrition/calcium/iron without rice cereal?

Won't your baby have more allergies if you don't eat [x] while you're pregnant?

Yep. Nope. Stop trying to make me feel like I'm somehow doing bad things to my future child by only eaten gluten-free grains once per day when I'm not on a Whole 30. Trust that I know what makes my body feel good and, therefore, make my baby feel good.

I slept last night! I made two further modifications. After thinking about for a long time in my sleep deprived haze, I remembered feeling similarly anxious and sleepless (although not as bad) once when I was in Africa conducting some research. It turned out I had parasites and had a deficiency in B vitamins and iron. I already have a bit of iron in my multivitamin so I wasn't worried about that. Of course there are Bs in my multi but I don't know how well absorbed they are because it's only a once a day thing. So I looked up the Bs and realized that they had a lot to do with mood and anxiety, as well as sleep because some of them are a precursor to melatonin. So I bought a liquid B supplement and took it yesterday. I noted that I felt calmer within a few hours. I followed it up with a melatonin before bed because if I'm low on Bs then I'm probably not making much.

Something worked. Last night I went to bed at 9:30 and was asleep in 20 minutes. I did wake up a couple of times but I got back to sleep again without much difficulty. I woke up at 7:30 in the morning but only because I had to - I could have slept longer.

So something I did worked. Let's hope it works again!

I thought to post this shot of my breakfast prep this morning.  On the weekend I diced 5 bell peppers, 3# green beans, a bunch of steamed potatoes and some ham (note, the ham is not compliant but I am not on Whole30).  Now in the morning I just throw a handful of each into a frying pan with some fat, go blowdry my hair and pour a coffee and breakfast cooks itself.  Wash out one frying pan when the food has been plated and you're done!

Note: the ham is non compliant but you could do the same with cooked chicken, cooked ground pork/beef, chopped roast, chopped pork chops etc.  Repeat, the ham is not compliant.

I've had people ask questions out of true curiosity and have tried to answer their questions briefly, then refer them to the books for further information.

Critics.... I've tried to ignore them. It's been nearly 3 years since my first W30, and I basically do like the others above; ignore them and quietly eat what I eat. And feel really good about it....

People pity me a lot. I get a lot of "I feel so bad for you, you can't have X"  My reply is always is: "Don't feel bad for me, I feel the best that I have ever felt in my life!  X makes me feel less than sublime, so why would I want it?"

I used argue, discuss, engage, but now I find the best route of action is just to quietly eat the way I eat.  Do I feel judged or judgey at times?  Sure I do.  But it all comes down to something making me more healthy or less healthy.

Delaney, I don't know how this would work with the blogging, but I talk about eating very little unless someone expresses particular interest. When up against conventional wisdom + SAD habits/assumptions, it's just too big a leap for most people. They think you've drunk the Kool-aid (and you begin to see that they're so used to the stuff that they have never even questioned it!). At this point, my family's been curious and open enough about it that almost everyone near me has shifted their eating to Paleo/ancestral since I first did a W30 a few years ago, so it's definitely contagious over time   but for casual acquaintances and colleagues, I just keep my mouth shut most of the time (except to feed myself delicious homemade stew and fresh veggies! or to just pick and choose if I'm at a dinner or restaurant). Most of the time I think I come off as a picky eater, but one who really loves her food.

For me - I am good with most proteins but have a terrible hard time digesting pork.  Even now almost 3 years later pork will still give me some issues.

Also sometimes if you are not eating enough starchy veg it can totally block you up too.  Daily sweet potato works wonders for me.

Raemikky, the forums are a very supportive community and those that take part regularly thrive here when they accept the rules for what they are, and realize that the Moderators (and other knowledgeable members) are passionate about the Whole30 program, and want to see you complete a true Whole30 meaning you will get the best results possible, and sometimes that takes a little tough love.
Your initial post was effectively encouraging other members to break the rules, and whilst that might have been a rookie error on your part it had to be made clear for everyone that this is not allowed.
I'm sorry that you feel the way that you do, but perhaps once you get over the hurt of your ticking off you might give the forums another chance & find that actually they'll make your Whole30 journey a whole lot easier....

This was a couple of years ago where I went to a restaurant (I believe they are a chain of restaurants in Western Canada) where they specify that they have a gluten free menu options.

So I ordered a bunless burger and a salad which had a variety of nuts, seeds etc. added to the salad.  The waitress then argued with me that if I was gluten and dairy sensitive I should order the salad without the nuts.  I told her that unless the nuts and seeds were coated with flour, that they should be fine.  She looked at me strange at that point - like I didn't know what I was talking about.

I had no real issue with the waitress herself - after all not everyone is aware of what a gluten sensitivity is.  However, I was slightly appalled that a restaurant that market's itself  as GF - doesn't take the time to explain to the staff what GF actually is.....

They also paint all humans with the same brush (cut carbs, lose weight) and they forget to mention "Cut carbs, lose your mother effing mind for 2 weeks a month, nearly get divorced, have high anxiety, lose focus, wicked headache, oh we're sorry, women actually need carbs but screw your physical needs, LOSE WEIGHT."

All good advice above. The thing that sticks out for me, though, is your size: you wear a small or extra small in clothes, but still feel you need to lose weight. Why? Do you hope to become an extra-extra small? why? I would do some hard thinking about goals here. If the idea of the number 150 seems "too high" to you, but you look great and have lots of energy weighing that amount, maybe that idea is the thing to shift, not the weight.

It would help if you posted 2-3 days worth of meals for you, including pre and post WO meals, portion sizes, water consumption, nightly hours of sleep and how often and how long you did the PiYO exercise, along with any other activity.

One thing that sticks out to me is the banana and cashew butter in the morning. I wonder how often your meals followed the recommended meal template of 1-2 palms of protein (compared to your hand palm size, not your husband's), 1-3 cups of veggies, and a compliant fat? Nuts are a fat source on a Whole30 and are intended to be used on a limited basis.

Skipping meals might have contributed to your current situation.  Also, did you have meal 1 within an hour of waking?  You want to do that for optimal hormonal balance.

On a much less ranty note, my favorite reaction when people ask about my "diet" is: "Oh, I could never do that."  I usually just smile a pained smile and think, "Oh, you definitely could...you just don't want to."  I want to tell them not to sell themselves short; they're certainly capable!

Another thing I thought was funny was how surprised people were at how much I spend on groceries every week.  I got the eyebrow raise, and "What??!! You spend $165 for 2 people??? I spend just over $100 for a family of four..." We tried explaining how we fill our cart with fresh veggies and good proteins.  Also when you do the math, it's just under $25 a day, which I really don't think is horrible, especially since we're eating three huge delicious meals every single day.  Just priorotize your budget!

I also didn't bother mentioning that $165 is actually a cheap week for us...

Boss: Hey, I made sure there's a cheese pizza since I know you're picky.

    On an entirely separate occasion:

Boss (to me): What kind of toppings do you want for pizza?
    Me: I can't eat pizza.
*cue boss has NO idea why I'm declining, I attempt to explain that gluten=flour and pizza is made with flour. She is completely boggled. Like, as if I had just tried to teach her astrophysics.*

I just love the implication that "hey, I have a food allergy" has translated into 1. I must be a picky eater and/or 2. I'm a vegetarian. Neither is remotely true.

    Hey There,

Also something very important that you seem to missing is 3 full template meals a day.  A coffee + a snack does not a meal make.  You are actually setting yourself up for stalling any type of weight loss by doing this.

The simple math work as such.  Eating 3 template meals daily = regulating happy hormones = possible weight loss

Overall your meals look very light on vegetables - fruits should not be pushing veggies off your plate
and you are light on fats.  Please remember that the fats that you cook with in a pan are very often left behind unless you scrape them out of the pan.

19 days trying to eat whole30 but missing a few details here and there is still a HUGE accomplishment and a step in the right direction. You have all the time in the world to continue to refine what you are doing--don't let yourself believe that not trying would have been better.

Hooboy.  So yes, you have done well with not eating any non-compliant foods.  You have not done as well in following the meal template.

1-2 palms of protein at every meal (when it's eggs that's as many as you can hold in your hand without dropping.  At LEAST 3-4 for most people)
1-3 cups of veggies, loads more if it's salad greens as those get munched down to nearly nothing in volume
1-2 thumbs fat (or half to whole avocado or heaping handful olives).

Skipping breakfast and light breakfast and late breakfast are all nonstarters.  Sorry.  Breakfast in full template quantities within an hour of waking is the absolute biggest step towards balancing hormones and those balanced hormones are directly tied to the "magic" that you want to feel.  Skipping any other meal goes nearly as far towards snuffing out that hormone rebalancing because your body can't trust you.  Weight loss happens when the hormones and blood sugar is balanced and the body feels "safe" to release weight.

The coffee creamer with dates and the banana alone are sugar bombs that a person who desires to lose weight does not need.  If you want fruit, have it with a main meal after you've filled up on protein, veggies and fat. No fruits alone and no allowing fruits to push veggies away.  On your pot roast dinner and lunch days, did you have veggies or fat?

I only see one mango listed.  Were there others?
