ACatCoop got a reaction from GFChris in Spring (3/20) start in order to finish for Easter!
Done and done!!! Weighed in this morning and dropped 15 lbs! I was AMAZED. I'm back to my fightin' weight, exactly where I want to be. Most of the weight I lost was my winter binge weight. My carb binges combined with all the fertility drugs I was on earlier this year really put me in a bad place... and my pants didn't fit!

Happy Easter, all! I'll see you over on the Post W30 log!

High fives to us! We did it!!!!

I'm good...really good.  So thankful that we are all at this point!  Last week, I was thinking of all the wonderful things I've denied myself and couldn't wait to dive in.  This morning, I found myself so excited about how I am feeling that I started to rethink how often I want to have some of my favorite breakfast treat: scones.
We woke to fresh snow this morning which totally ruled out an outdoor walk/run.  Off to the dreadmill. However, I've discovered an app, BitGym, that reads your actual pace and allows you to walk/ride/run trails in to your pace.  It was AWESOME! What started as a walk, turned into a run that started as 10 minutes, turned into 20 minutes, and finally ended at 25 minutes because I felt SO good!
    It's an exciting final week!
Good job everyone!  Good luck with the cocktail hours!

I'm with you BAKrafty...I think I may have to reintroduce my afternoon snack ... usually around 2 pm. I can load up on lunch, but most days I'm starving by dinner. I'm not a very pleasant person or happy momma when I'm hungry! We'll see.

I bought candy for the kid's easter basket today. I don't usually care about candy, but those Reese's eggs are too tempting. I'm going to give myself Easter, then get back to 80-90%.

Good luck on your run tomorrow, Sparkle! And thanks for the link to the graphic. Wine for breakfast?! Yes please :-)

    Day 21!

Oooh, now I'm looking forward to tomorrow's email. Y'all have me interested. I can live without bread I've decided. But a sandwich treat here and there is enticing! I have an acquaintance here who bakes the yummiest paleo treats, and she's developing a paleo bread recipe. Here's isn't going to be filled with junk like others you see on the shelves. Anywho, I may have to try that if I ever "HAVE" to have a grilled cheese :-)

Sparkle, if you want to keep on going for a W60 on, go for it! It couldn't hurt, especially if you are enjoying the way you're eating and feeling now.

Today's run was SOOOOOOO much better that the last two weeks! The key for me is making sure I have enough starchy veg the days before and morning of a long run. I took a Plum Organics blueberry/spinach/pear baby food pouch with me and sucked it down about half-way through. In the interest of truth, I stole it from my son's stash ;-) Anyway, it absolutely did the job. I felt strong through the last mile and was like a horse running to the stable at the end. I've used gels in the past and I've always have serious gastric distress about 30 min post race. I mean, like the bottom was falling out of my gut. I haven't had any issues yet today! I had an orange and a hard-boiled egg after the run and have been sucking down the water. I am quite tired still, but have some pep in my step after today's milage victory. Next week I start to taper .. "only" 11 miles.

I hope everyone's having a great day! High fives all around. We're almost there!

I have been clean eating for over a year now...though the Whole 30 takes it to a whole new level.  Prior to Whole30 I lived more like 80/20 because I know myself well enough to know that if I think I "can't" have something, I want it all the more.

I know that once the 30 days is over, I will be much more cognizant of added sugar and about the times that I nearly caved and how I resolved the issue.  I do like that my body wants to burn fat instead of sugar yet prior to the start of lent I typically turned to sugar. Now I'll use the new items that I've added more often instead of the sugar.

The best thing I can say about clean eating the past 18 months is that grocery shopping is so much easier...especially because it means no more trolling up and down the aisles...stay to the perimeter of the store and all is well.

However, I will never ever again cut dairy out of my life...well, unless something changes with me drastically for medical reasons.  My first post Whole30 food will be Greek Gods Greek Yogurt. I love that stuff!  And my post run chocolate milk.

I'll admit that after reading Day 22, yes, I am afraid to add back breads and crackers.  I'll need to seriously rethink what/how I add those.  I'm sure they'll give us more clues in the coming days, Sparklefiftyseven.
    Enjoy your day, everyone!

We're in the home stretch...or it feels that way to me.  My run yesterday was quiet and only 2 miles but that's 2 miles more than I'd done in the past 3 weeks.  I was glad of it since I didn't wake up on time and had to do it on my lunch hour.  But I think that helped since post run, I had a great lunch.
Here's to today!  Let's do this thing!

We are only human, Manda! I say start another one but stay with us.
And it is always good to sit with what triggered the choice to eat something that was not W30 (I don't like using the word, "compliant" for some reason). Also to count all the ways that you feel great about eating this way. Yes, the Whole30 is supposed to be 30 days straight but you still had benefits for being on it so long!
Let us know how you are doing.

You are one strong lady, Manda! Ain't nothing popcorn is gonna do for you except make you feel like "what the h*ll!!?? You have come so far. And lordy, lordy, who has not been laid absolutely low by that *(&&$%% time of the month. Any way you can retreat for a hot bath? Or walk for 10 minutes in the fresh air? And if the tears come, let 'em flow.
Was that kick accidental? Geez I hope so though I know it still hurts.
    We are with you!!!

Good on everyone for finishing Day 15! I can't wait to check that box tomorrow!

I did another long run today, 11 mi. I added an extra egg to my breakfast as well as some sweet potatoes. I also had some leftover roasted brussels sprouts and wilted spinach and blueberries. It was all delicious, but I think I ate TOO much. I felt like I was about to throw up about half-way through. Maybe next week I'll finally make the "perfect" pre-run breakfast.

This may be TMI so I apologize in advance, but I've had a bout of crazy diarrhea that last two mornings. It just happens in the mornings and then it's done, but it's been two days in a row. Everything in that department had been going swimmingly until yesterday. Maybe it has to do with my "time"? Anyone have this problem?

Other than that, I've been feeling really great!

I survived Panera! I brought my own kombucha (I brew my own), and my friend had dinner. It was totally fine.

Feeling good today. THE SUN IS SHINING IN RI!!!!

I'm having a super late breakfast because I had to go to the local community college to pick up a duplicate "driver's ed completion" form for my 16 year old. I had hard boiled eggs, and now I'm eating some of Everyday Paleo's cole slaw (YUM).

Warmer weather definitely makes the thought of exercising easier to bear! So don't be embarrassed, Manda.  I'll bet you move plenty just doing the work you do.

Believe me, I've done the olives for dinner, too! :-D Hooray for not having the chocolate chips!

I made mini frittatas for breakfast this morning. Delish! And not hard at all.

The prep recipes in Well Fed are really great in my view. I have not done them exactly but even the partial prep I have done has made a diff. Oh, and I made a huge vat of chocolate chili. If I throw that on spinach, it's easy and compliant. I'm feeling marginally less like a newbie, I guess.

Can we count down to half way????

Clabby, you did the best you could! Don't fret about the corn oil .... ISWF talks about severely limiting it since we can't avoid it in restaurant cooking. And the red wine vinegar should be fine too! Nothing but vinegar and water in there. It's so frustrating when sugar and butter are hidden. But like you said, it was a negligible amount so just take it as a learning lesson and keep going. Sounds like you had a great dinner!

Hi all! May I jump on here with y'all? I'm finishing up Day 8 (started 21 March). My carb flu has passed, but I still find myself starving by dinnertime. Ok, "starving" may not be the best description, but the food has barely been blessed before I'm stuffing my face.

I noticed some of you are runners too. I'm training for a half marathon right now and am absolutely missing my pre-run oatmeal w/ banana and sunbutter. I did my first long run since starting the W30 yesterday, about 10 miles. It felt awful. I was hating life by the end of it. However, I must add that I wasn't slowed down at all. It just FELT bad. I took up residence on the couch afterward while my 2-yo napped :-) Next week, I think I'll add some sweet potatoes to breakfast and take an applesauce pouch with me in case I start to drag.

I've been using some paleo recipes for about a year now, but this is the first time I've committed to it 100%. Well Fed and Well Fed 2 are my bibles. I made the chili lime chicken wings from Nom Nom the other night... yumm!!!!!!

And my friend and fellow W30-er turned me onto putting ghee in my one cup of coffee in the morning. Just about a teaspoon and 15 seconds in the blender... it's heaven :-) I tried to do it black for a week and I could stomach it. But this makes mornings so much better ... especially since there's no oatmeal.

And the dreams ... dreamt on day 3 that I had a piece of bread and woke up angry!

Cheers all! Good luck on the start of your days 10, day 9 for me :-)

ACatCoop got a reaction from jent103 in Eating out Whole30-style in London
I lived in the UK for 3 years (actually just outside Cambridge!). There are plenty of restaurants and quick eats places where you can get Whole30 compliant meals (Pret, EAT, etc). The grocery stores (Tesco, Sainsbury's, Waitrose) have tons of pre-cut grab and go fruit and veg. The best part is the easy-to-read food labels. You will find that many of the restaurant menus offer GF options. It's a very meat and white potatoes land and entree salads are hard to find. Enjoy the plentiful lamb and grass-fed beef on the menus! (Oddly enough, we had British friends who wanted us to buy American meat for them at our commissary because they like the taste better …. if they only knew!)

Pizza Express has great salads. They are all over the place… but beware because the pizzas will be tempting!

Rainbow Cafe in Cambridge is an all-vegetarian restaurant that sources local ingredients. It's delicious and has many GF options. However, they do serve a lot of dishes over legumes and rice. But I'm sure they'd be happy to accommodate specific requests.
