Congrats, I loved that you mentioned you don't need  NEED snacks, sugar, even alcohol.
This weekend I've said no to rice krispie treats, oreos, birthday cake, mexican hot chocolate cupcakes, and tonight at a table for 4, 3 people shared a slice of carrot cake and I had to say no thank you. It was hard but I made the commitment and I'm going to DO IT.

Starting Monday May 26... I'm a little nervous because theres quite a lot of rules and even finding Whole30 recipes is tricky because it seems like recipes tend to have things not compliant. I've got my "It Starts with Food" and I've definitely been reading up. Wish me LUCK!

Sarah, I wondered the same thing. I find that certain people who comment on here are a little harsh.  When someone asks a question,  can there be a simple response, a kinder tone, some humor? This forum is supposed to be for support, right?

Anyway, I heard from a nutritionist that if sugar enters your bloodstream too fast, thats when its harmful. So sugar in fruit is bound to other components, and your body has to sort of pick through all of those. As opposed to raw sugar, refined sugar, goes straight to the bloodstream.

Sound like you're doing great! I am still mostly whole30 so every time I feel like I have to say no thank you I think about all the awesome foods I've added to my diet and how great I feel. Good luck to you!

    Congrats CDNJ!

audream....sounds like you have the right attitude to be successful. I cant believe how many opportunities popped up during my Whole 30 month that challeneged me. It seemed that every morning meeting I went to had donuts, every afternoon meeting had pizza. Birthday parties, and dinners out were all challenging........AND DEFEATED! Keep up the good work.

I am a few days ahead of most of you but also on my second Whole 30. @Donna, I drink SoBe water and it says it has no sugar and its alot less boring than regular water. I had a tremendous experience with my first Whole 30 and dropped 17 lbs, 5% body fat and two pant sizes. I was also very happy with my allergies going away, acid reflux going away, and the great sleep and energy I had. I will admit, I am a picky eater and I cant say that I spend any time trying to find sugar free bacon or make my ketchup from dirt and pine cones. My biggest issues were beer, alcohol, all thr breads, pizza, cake, cookies, chips, and ALL the rest of the garbage that I put in my mouth. My methods might not be accepted by the true Whole 30 "purists", but it worked for me and if I can give anyone like me a little hope that they can be successful, then thats fine with me. I lost 14 pounds from January to March (working out), and 17 with Whole 30 (no working out). I have 20 more to go to reach my goal of 51 pounds! I wont be stopped!

Yes! I am embarking on my first Whole 30 on Monday [5/5]. (I am running a half marathon Sunday and thought it best to wait.) I am also coming off of being vegetarian/vegan for the last four years, so I am heartened to hear that a vegetarian of longer standing is having success with Whole 30. Many of my exercising/running buddies are grain-free, and I've recently given that a try. It's been a month, and it feels great. (A grain-free vegetarian, yes...it exists!  )  I'm still finding that I am tired a lot, ready to crash some days by 4pm! I do have some seasonal allergies as well, and the weight loss would be an added perk.  I'm most excited to see if Whole30 gives me that "all-day energy" I keep reading about.  Can't wait to find out.

Wow, where do I start.  My WHOLE30 journey began April 21, 2014, and this is Day 10.  This has been a breeze for me so far.  I have great support from my husband, which helps tremendously.  The house has been "de-junkified" at my level of reaching.  I'm much shorter than my husband, and cannot reach the top shelves, so I asked him to place all his snacks where I could not reach them.  I asked him to not offer me anything, and he actually eats his snacks rather discretely.  Go Figure!

I'm not saying that I still don't crave certain foods, because I do.  Its like when I quit smoking 30 years ago...to this day when I smell smoke from cigarettes, the brain pulls that memory from deep inside, and for just a split moment, there is a craving.  I have managed to stay away from Starbucks, but visualize about having a Venti Caramel Flan Latte.  I savor the flavors, smells, then snap back to reality and have a large glass of water with 2 teaspoons of orange juice.

I get a lot of benefit from the WHOLE30 TIMELINE, Version 2, that is available on this website.  I asked my husband to read through it, which he did, so that he would know what to expect from me (mood swings in particular).  So far, the timeline is pretty accurate, and very bearable.  The WHOLE30 SHOPPING LIST is an absolute MUST when shopping.  Yesterday while shopping, I chose the "best choice" foods and am looking forward to preparing our meals.

I did eat out for breakfast one day, ordering 2 poached eggs, steamed broccoli, and a cup of mixed fruit.  I told the waitress that I am allergic to grains, legumes, dairy, and sugar (which I am, as it causes ill health and fat).  I said that I had a bizarre order to give and she said "no problem."  So, while eating out, it doesn't hurt to ask.

I'll check in again at day 20.  Thank you for the support, and I enjoy reading many of the posted topics. Feeling energetic today, for the first time, in a long time.
