  1. #SeptemberWhole30

Just checking in to say I finished on Tuesday! I'm eating mostly compliant meals (but normal butter and not worrying about added sugar). I've decided that moving forward I'm going to allow myself 4 out of 21 meals a week that are not paleo/whole30. At those meals though, I still need to have protein, fat and veg. I'm going to try this for a few weeks/months and see if it helps with my FFF. I think a little more structure for the first few weeks will hopefully help. I'm happy to say I lost 7 lbs which is just unbelievable to me. I ate four template meals a day and snacked as needed and STILL lost weight. I fall asleep faster and sleep deeper, which after 9 months of pregnancy and then 6 months of having a baby were WONDERFUL NSVs. My energy is more consistent and when I do get hungry, it's something I can manage and I don't feel light headed and nauseous. I'm very pleased with how this round went! I restarted the couch to 5k to keep this fitness/health journey going. I'm excited to slowly build up my strength and endurance!

Day 26 for me and I'm feeling good! Definitely have more energy in general, even if I do still feel tired. I plan on still meal prepping on Sunday to have whole30 compliant foods for the work week. I'm hoping that'll make the reintroduction easier to stick to. Other than that, nothing much to report! I'm going into this weekend knowing that it may be tougher to day no since I'll be "almost" done. I am looking forward to some wine next Sunday with my family and also looking forward to knowing EXACTLY how it makes me feel//affects me.

@stacie66 I'm also not necessarily feeling many body changes and am a bit disappointed. I know I still have a few days to go (today is day 22 for me) but I just don't think the weight loss will be there this time. So, I'm trying to focus on my NSVs and remember that I didn't really go into this for weight loss, I went into it to get my eating back on track. I may be in the lucky group of women who holds onto an extra few lbs while breastfeeding and that's ok! My body is sustaining a tiny human and that is amazing. @NoneOtherThanAmy I'm also thinking about reintroduction. I'm always better with a concrete plan so here's how I'm going to handle the reintro: day 31- non gluten grains, day 34- wine/alcohol, day 37- dairy, day 40- gluten. I'm not really tempted by legumes, so I'll probably slow roll that or tag it on after the gluten experiment. I'm going to stick to it this time. The other two times I was only thinking of it as a 30 day reset and faceplanted into cheesy, gluteny wonderfulness so did NOT take advantage of all the hardwork. This time, with a plan in place, I fell confident that I can handle the reintroduction. I'm also looking forward to setting another "health" goal which will be fitness related. Once again, I'm better with a concrete plan, so I'm going to start on October 9th and I need to figure out what that fitness challenge is going to be!

I would love to just add the spice right into the grounds! Unfortunately my husband is a coffee "purist", so I'll have to figure out how I can finagle this. Fortunately, we both like our coffee black, so it's not a dire situation!

In one of the whole30 facebook groups i follow, someone mentioned using the original nutpod and using pumpkin spice seasoning (not sure if that'st he right word).

Day 18! I've been making an effort to be more active. What that looks like for me is taking a 20-30 minute walk at lunch and doing about 20-30 minutes of "active" house work, i.e. yard work last night and scrubbing the kitchen the day before (thanks whole30! ;). The running has fallen off as life has gotten busy. I think once I'm done the whole30 I'll restart the couch to 5k. It seems I'm only able to focus on one health/wellness goal at a time! NSVs- more consistent energy, can go longer between meals without being hungry, less bloated, better sleep and better skin @ShellyM - the kitchen feels like a war zone after dinner most nights! @stacie66 - those look so good! Hope everyone is rolling along
  7. Sleeping worse!!!!

Hello, I'm on day 15 and have noticed a few things that affect my supply while on whole30 (my daughter is 6 months old for reference): 1. Like the moderator said, eat enough! I'm eating at least four meals daily and making sure they follow the template 2. Eat starchy vegs and fruit. This is not the time to go low carb, accidentally or on purpose. I make sure to have at least two servings of potatoes/squash every day and usually eat at least one piece of fruit with the other meals. 3. Drink A LOT of water. I drink AT LEAST 120 oz of water a day, and normally can get closer to 150. For reference, I was around 170 when I weighed in and haven't been doing any exercise other than walking. 4. Do NOT be afraid of fat. If you're doing all the other things listed above, up your fat amounts at each meal. I did notice that around the time the timeline said you go through fat adaptation (I think around days 8-10), I was pumping less, but this morning I pumped 15 oz in 1 session. The dip may only be for a day or two. Good luck!

@NoneOtherThanAmy those are some impressive insights! It's amazing what pushing yourself out of your comfort zone can do. I also had a successful weekend. I went to a professional sporting even on Saturday and normally that means beer and fried food. I was able to "just say no" and it was easier than I thought it would be. I had a few hard boiled eggs, carrots and almonds in the car on the way down and a lara bar on the way home. Not being hungry really helped me say no. Sunday was meal prepping some Pad Thai from Well Fed and egg roll in a bowl while watching football. Some current NSV that I'm enjoying: clearer skin, my rings feeling looser, more consistent energy, and not be ravenous constantly. I was hoping for having more energy, but waking up 1 or 2 a night with my baby isn't helping on that front . Half way through Day 15 and I'm feeling good!

Day 11 over here and feeling tired. I think I need to up my fat during my meals. I was feeling really good for a few days, then yesterday and today I'm back to being tired again. I'm sleeping better, so that's a major NSV, just need to get my energy levels up. Food boredom is also starting to set in. I'm definitely going to make the egg roll in a bowl next on Sunday to switch things up and I'm going to hit up Chipotle for lunch tomorrow so I can eat something NOT made by me. @NoneOtherThanAmy your plan for this weekend sounds good! Poached eggs are always a good option too if you're not sure about the cooking oils.

@alisonmae The dreams are normal! Make sure you're drinking enough water and eating enough fat. Those are the two things that affect my energy level if I think I'm getting enough carbs. Day 8 for me as well and I'm feeling good. I successfully said no to beers and bread during Saturday and Sunday's football games. I definitely had a moment of "is it really worth it to continue on whole30?" but the thought of telling my friend who is doing this with me kept me on track. Sunday was chopping veggies, making a batch of scotch eggs and chocolate chili from Well Fed. I feel prepped and ready to tackle another week. Only "issue" is tomorrow I have an early work meeting (I need to leave the house when I normally wake up), so I'm glad the scotch eggs are good on-the-go protein! @snowflower I've been seeing more and more of these egg roll in a bowl recipes! I'm definitely going to cook up a batch this Sunday for the following week.

Stay safe @stacie66! If you're able to stay on the program during this, you are officially my hero! And to everyone else in Florida and those dealing with the wildfires, stay safe as well!
  12. Starting on Labor Day

Yes, it's normal to be either starving OR not hungry at all. Your plans sound perfect, eat more and specifically eat more fat! When you're tempted, just keep reminding yourself why you're going doing the Whole30. You can even come here and look for support! Do something else tonight to relax; take a long, hot shower/bath, read a book, watch a favorite movie/tv show and get to bed early. You've got this!

Good morning everyone, @libchick I agree, when the decision making is already done for the day in regards to food, it makes it SO much easier. Day three for me and I definitely have a mild headache and am TIRED. Part of that is from a 2 oclock night waking from my daughter, but I got a decent amount of sleep besides that so some of this is related to the "hangover". I'm going to get through today and aim to be in bed by 9 tonight to try and get some extra sleep. Luckily, all the good food I've prepped is making it easy to stay on task! How's everyone else doing?
  14. Starting on Labor Day

I'm on day two as well. This is my third whole30 but my first time doing one while nursing. My daughter is almost six months old and with pregnancy (food aversions! morning sickness!) and sleep deprivation, I've gotten off course. I'm not beating myself up over it, I did what I needed to to get through, but I'm now ready to commit to 30 days of whole, nourishing foods eaten for the RIGHT reason (fuel). I am looking forward to adding an extra meal to my days (there are just so many recipes I want to try!) to compensate for nursing. I was feeling fine when I woke up, but have had a bit of a headache for the past few hours. I've already had well over 150 oz of water today, so I'll just keep chugging along and try and make it an early bedtime tonight.

Good morning everyone! I'm on day 2 (started September 4th) and am feeling pretty good. Used my day off yesterday to prep my breakfasts and lunches for the week. I made Paleomg's buffalo chicken soup, a veggie frittata, baked some compliant sausage and sweet potatoes and made guacamole. Since I'm nursing, I need to eat 4 meals a day. I plan on eating three at work and then eating dinner at home. I already feel so accomplished for the week! Here's hoping my "hang over" isn't too bad the next few days. Hope everyone is hanging in there
