Effective Thursday, August 27, 2015, members can no longer edit their own posts indefinitely.  Unfortunately the constant editing in the threads was causing issues within the forum, necessitating the change.
Members will now be allowed to edit their own post for 15 minutes after publishing (for fixing typos or adding a quick afterthought).  Beyond that initial 15 minutes, the post will be considered closed and can only be edited by an administrator or moderator.
Thank you very much for your understanding and for helping the forum to run as smoothly as possible.

If you have opted for the Whole30 Daily:

the emails start with Day 0 so make sure you sign up in advance of your Day 1 to receive full benefit if you are across the world from the US, sign up to receive them one day in advance so they arrive on the day you are actually on if you have issues with or need help with your subscription, email [email protected] if you aren't receiving the emails, first check your spam, "promotions" and "social" tabs in your email (especially for gmail clients) please do not republish any portion of the daily emails.  They are a gift that you have given yourself and are a paid product.  Any republishing of their content will be immediately deleted. UPDATE: the daily emails were phased out when the Whole30 Day by Day was released. The cost of the book is similar to the cost of the emails but includes more motivation and support.

Sweet potato "toast" is sliced sweet potato and is definitely permitted on Whole30. If you, personally, have a very strong association to conventional toast where you think that putting toppings on a slice of sweet potato is a gateway food for you, then sure, you should exclude it. Latkes are also permitted for the program as they are baked or pan fried vegetables. We understand that some people may find that they are better off leaving them off and that's fine but they are also not considered SWYPO.
I appreciate your passion surrounding the program and of course we want folks to read things with a critical mind. We also appreciate polite and respectful discourse but please also understand that answers coming from Whole30 Moderators, Administrators and Coaches is generally not going to be "false information".

I was feeling a little yucky and discouraged the last couple of days but doing better this morning and re-found this gem from @ladyshanny:
A couple of my cook-up plans have been slightly derailed- still waiting on delivery for some of my lotion ingredients and I forgot that the Moroccan chicken goop calls for green onions so I have to postpone those but I'm going to make nom nom's Italian sausage and kale casserole (using ground chicken and swiss chard because that's what I have) and as soon as it warms up a little I'll put a couple of chickens on the smoker. I think some of MJ's Moroccan dipping sauce will go nicely with it so I'll probably make a double batch of that. Yesterday it was warm enough to fire up the grill for some burgers and I made some cole slaw to go with them then pork chops for dinner with a big pile of haricot vert sautéed in MJ's better butter- I could eat those every day! I think I never want to be out of better butter!
I haven't worked a full week for the past three weeks so it's time to get back to the real world! At least I have a plan- sort-of.

As it is currently Eight Billion Degrees here today, I thought I'd start off this morning with a salad.  And yes, I ate it out of a huge tupperware because as we always say, your salad needs to be huge and all my large bowls were busy.  Contained potatoes, olives, pickles, peppers, tomatoes, greens, cucumbers, a hunk of meatloaf and this dressing.

Easier said that done and easy for me right now to "preach" to you because I'm in an ebb of stress.  But when you can't remove stress altogether you put focus on all of the other things.  Get enough sleep.  Get moderate activity (walk the dog etc, nothing high intensity).  Eat whole, nutrient dense foods.  Take as much time for yourself as you can to decompress.

So you can't get rid of stress but you can remove all the other "stressors" on your body which means that your body is much more able to cope with whatever stress load you have at the time.

As Melissa teaches, you have a health bank account.  If all you are ever doing is making withdrawals (low quality or short sleep or poor nutrition/high anti-nutrition such as sugars/grains etc or no activity along with whatever high stress you have) your health account gets depleted.  If you have to have the high stress making withdrawals for a period of time that's fine but make deposits with the good nutrition, good sleep, gentle activity, good self dialogue etc).

No, these are alright, it's just butternut squash cut in a crinkle form. It is literally nothing but butternut squash, raw, ready to roast. These are fine.

I know there are "best gadgets" and "kitchen tools" threads all over in the back pages of the forum but sometimes it's fun to see a current list for new folks. Plus, there's new and awesome stuff out there!
If you've done a Whole30 before, what would you suggest our January starters put on their Christmas lists that would help them in their Whole30?  I'll start:
mason jars for storing/freezing leftover soups, bone broth, sauces, dressings good quality food storage containers (eg, glass or stoneware) immersion blender for mayo, dressings, blended soups cast iron or ceramic frying pan - leftovers tossed into a fry pan and reheated (maybe w/ an egg on top) is a super quick anytime meal! microplane large, high quality sheet pan crock pot good quality chopping knife vegetable peeler silicone muffin pan instant pot spiralizer Whole30 books, cookbooks etc  OK, let's help build the list! Reply below and I'll add your responses to this first post as well as an easy reference guide!
