I like eating - obviously :) cooking, photography, love all kinds of music, read at least 1 book a week - most genres.
Oh and i love Tea... i am British ;) I like computer games, super hero's, Lord of the Rings, zombie movies. I'm a member of the Nerd Fitness Academy. I like to ride my bike and late night drives. My fav season is Fall and i LOOOVE Christmas! I'm a married, working full time, mommy of 2 boys. Ive currently lost about 80lbs.
My dream is to one day live "off the grid" and have my own little farm. I want to have at least 1 cow, goat, horse, several chickens and a few dogs. I want to grow my own food and hopefully be brave enough to raise and eat some animals. Id end up giving them names though and not be able to go through with it. I also want to be a ninja :D A girl can dream right? lol. I can at least train like i am going to be one :) I want to be my own doctor and pharmacist and heal my body with food and herbs and laugh in the face of pharmaceutical companies. I have a few conspiracies running around my mind and I'm pretty sure my hubby thinks i'm nuts at times - but he married me so who is the crazy one really?

First Whole30 in the Big Apple (January Start)

I'm in NY too and am planning my 3rd whole30 for Jan 1. I'm re-reading the book and have put all my daily emails from the first round into a folder ready for easy eaccess. I work full time and have 2 kids, so I love my crockpot and a weekly cook up for easy meals during the week. I look forward to getting to know you all over the nxt month or so
  3. Hey! I'm a little late to this party.... can i join you? This is my second round too. I had planned to start another round a couple of weeks ago but got a little sick and birthdays came up and school started and *sigh* lol. I've maintained my 14lbs loss from my first round which ended September 2nd. I didnt exercise (apart from walking and the occasional bike ride) the first time round but now im in a routine of exercise. At the moment i do bodyweight exercises 3x a week - get on my bike when i can and i get at least 10,000 steps a day at least 5 days a week. How is your first day going? I have instagram and occasionally use a facebook page. I use hangouts (Google talk), I have a fit bit and use runkeeper when i remember - if you use any of that stuff and want to add me just let me know and i'll give you my details. First time around I used the Well Fed & Well Fed 2 books - i definitely recommend them! Also Nom Nom Paleo has some really nice recipes (I loooooooooooooooooooove the slow cooker Chicken & Gravy, see recipe here ) What were some of your favorite recipes? -Mandy

    Photos from 1st whole30

Here is my before and after from my 1st whole30. I still have a ways to go weight wise but I'm on my way. I lost 14lbs. I also lost my arthritis pain, my lack of sleep and the need for 3 medications... ambien, percocet and soma. I had been suffering with chronic back pain for 2 plus years. Within 7 days my pain reduced significantly and within 2 weeks I'd greatly reduced my medication. It took my another week or so to completely stop the percocet due to my prolonged use. The doctor told me it would take months to come off them due to the terrible side effects of withdrawal. .. it took me a week and I believe the whole30 is the reason for that. I do have occasional aches in my sacroiliac joint but nothing some rest or stretching cannot fix. My skin and hair looks much healthier too. On day 0, my asthma symptoms were problematic, I was unbelievably tired, I'd wake congested and I was utterly depressed. All of that is in the past. After a week of being off whole30, I realized I needed a little more help with my food relationship so started again on Sept 8. I do plan to stay with it for 70 days since there are suggestions it takes 66 days to break/change habits. I look forward to posting another success story on November 17th!

    September 8th, anyone?

Today I was called a party pooper because I didn't have any birthday cake by one of my colleagues lol. It didn't bother me and I wasn't disappointed that I couldn't eat the cake. It's funny how people think that you need to eat a certain food or drink certain drinks in order to celebrate or enjoy yourself. With my birthday coming up I told them I absolutely do not want any cake. They asked if I could eat vegan cake or sugar free cake.... I said cake is cake and I dont want any, Thank You!! I'd much rather have steak.... at least it rhymes. I tried to tell them what we're doing is about our relationship with food but I lost them at "i don't want. .."

I got through day 2 without killing anyone. And I even got in a 40 mins work out after work This morning I'm a little tired and have a little headache, nothing major. Yesterday I lived off my slowcooker thai chicken curry, and will have more for lunch today. It's really good and I love leftovers. Tonight we'll be having steaks, nice big juicy grass fed rib eye steaks... *drool* Happy day 3 everyone! !

    September 8th, anyone?

Kill. All. Things. That is all............ lol jk. But i am in a very irritated mood today. @JillP - I found after a week on my first whole30 i didnt want coffee anymore... even though i continued to make it and throw it away. My mind finally gave in and i realized it was the cream in my coffee i loved more than anything. I'm a big tea drinker anyway so stuck with that. Currently drinking an organic coconut chai. yum

    September 8th, anyone?

Ugh so tired today... could be just because its monday though... OR it could be the fact i ate a bunch of crap this weekend lol I am about to have lunch.... leftovers from dinner... crockpot roast chicken, roast potatoes, brussel sprouts and gravy. The crockpot chicken and gravy is one of my favorites from nom nom paleo blog. I really dont like chicken any other way now http://nomnompaleo.com/post/4807547385/slow-cooker-roast-chicken-and-gravy Good luck to everyone! How is your first day going?

Whole 70 starting on Sept 8. Who's in?

Rkrzywda It is soooo easy to make! Place 1 egg and 2 tblsp lemon juice in a blender... let sit to get to room temperature (about 30 mins, up to 2 hrs) Add 1/4 cup olive oil, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp ground mustard. Blend for a few seconds until mixed. Then take 1 cup of olive oil and add sloooooowwwwwwwlllllyyyyyyyyy to the mix,,, should take about 3 mins. voila! You have mayo. It is so so good and a great base for many many sauces. It thickens further in the refrigerator and is good until the date on your eggs. it wont make it that far though, trust me lol Oh make sure to use the extra light tasting olive oil. My day 1 getting off to a good start, even though I am hungry at the moment but i am waiting until 12pm though to eat my left overs from dinner - crockpot roast chicken with my famous roast potatoes and brussel sprouts covered in gravy. yum. I did the water challenge too. looking forward to see what challenge Rkrzywda has for us tomorrow! How is everyone else doing? Its nice to see some international people here, where is everyone from?

Whole 70 starting on Sept 8. Who's in?

Oh wow. You have some strong willpower! Lol. My kids are supportive, and they are quick to tell people I don't eat any food with sugar in it. My hubby was a great supporter of my first Whole30 but he missed sharing foods and was super excited when I was done and he bought me a bunch of treats, which was very very sweet of him but that's what gets me back to the unhealthy relationship with food. When I told him I wanted to do a whole90 he kinda freaked out because it would cover my birthday and thanksgiving. After some talk and thought, I decided to do the whole70 so I could get past the 66 days and still have time to get into a relaxed version of whole30 before thanksgiving. My birthday, well, I said that it's my choice and I don't want to eat cake on my bday lol. I explained the need for me to do it and he understands why. That makes it 10000000 times easier for me knowing I have his support this time around too. Hopefully I can get him on board one day. But just now knowing he doesn't think I'm trying to punish him or something by not sharing his foods means the world to me. Silly sausage to think that! Lol Well, I am getting ready for bed now and all my electronics are going off. I look forward to seeing your posts tomorrow. How about a mini challenge? 1-2 cups of water with lemon and/or lime before breakfast. The first person to post that they did it can choose a mini challenge for the next day

Whole 70 starting on Sept 8. Who's in?

Yay!! So excited to see more of you here!! I think primarily we will stay in touch here on this thread but if you want to share other means of support then please do so. I use instagram and Facebook (trimhealthymum is my username for both) and am happy to connect via email messages etc Exercise wise I will be doing Piyo. Occasionally bike riding. If you have amazon prime or Netflix you can find some good workouts for free. And youtube of course. I have 2 kids, 7 (almost) and 11. I work full time and rely heavily on my food prep for the week. I cannot recommend that enough. I'll be honest, this weekend I ate pretty bad and I'm worried that this time around I won't have the same willpower as my first Whole30. I'm sure once I get back into the swing of it I will be fine. But I definitely need to clear the fridge of the bad stuff that crept in over the weekend.

Well you know I'm in Will you be exercising too? What do you do for fitness? Or what are you planning to do? In my first Whole30 I did make sure I got in some walking and bike riding but it wasn't a routine, it just happened wwhenever the moment arose. This time I plan to follow a schedule and my other goal is to drink more water. What goals do you have?
