This evening was very difficult! I have a lot of personal & financial stress going on at the moment and my first instinct was still to eat some junk food toake myself feel better. I stopped at target to get a few things and ended up in the candy aisle I honestly was looking at it to feel better since I knew I couldn't eat it! I was really proud of myself that in the end I didn't get anything but it also made me realize how much I need to be doing whole 30! Having a that kind of reaction to stress is not good! I honestly started whole30 mostly for weight loss but tonight I realized I need it for much more than that.

I'm having dreams too about eating non compliant foods and freaking out. It's kind of funny!
I feel great...like I have too much energy and can't focus! I started a new job so it might be stress/adrenaline/Whole30 that's giving me energy. I'm going to up excercise and see how I feel.
New found food:CURRY! Love it-coconut milk, curry paste, protein and veggies-super easy
Keep up the good work everyone!

Some other options that I didn't think of include bulletproof coffee (google it, but basically it gives you tons of fat in your coffee...I've never had it, but I'm going to try it out tomorrow for the first time), cinnamon, and coconut milk as well! The pumpkin pie spice sounds amazing though! I might have to do that as well!

Thank you so much everyone. Your support means a lot to me... Even my ultra healthy sister is skeptical about whole30 with the no grain thing. I will hang in there for another week and hopefully the bloating, anxiety, depression, tears will subside. It's so great having you here with me. the only thing that's annoying me is the fact I can't directly reply under your posts and have to quote and repost!

Hello! If you have some extra cash, buy a coffee bean grinder (You can buy one for 12.00 on amazon) and then buy coffee beans...I love the breakfast blend coffee beans from trader joes, but you can also buy some from almost any coffee shop you frequent! I started doing that about a year ago for when I have coffee, and its amazing. Another option might be starbucks bag..they are kind of small, but they taste delicious! Hope this helps!

I love Adelle's Chicken and Apple sausage. I use Donut Shop k cups which are decent. I'm staying away from any flavored coffee. Have you tried adding coconut milk to coffee?
Today was the hardest for me! I'm feeling hungry but have stuck with the guidelines. I've been fantasizing about red velvet cupcakes and Mac and cheese! I bought a ton of organic produce in bulk today instead of cupcakes

Dear ladies, I just have to shout this to the roof tops somewhere, and I figure this is the only subforum where it wouldn't be too weird to bring it up.

So, 7 years ago I was diagnosed with an autoimmune illness (ulcerative colitis) and at the same time I also go pregnant with my first daughter. After having her I was put on strong immunosuppressants but still experiencing flare-ups regularly. My period also never came back. I had some spotting in the summer of 2011 after trying a low carb diet. The diet made my tummy better, but it was just so uncomfortable and not appetizing to me, so I gradually went back to regular "healthy" grainfilled eating. Since I obviously couldn't get pregnant we had to get medical help to get pregnant with our second daughter and I had her in april 2012. The pregnancy was difficult and I think it was because I simply wasn't healthy enough to carry a child, I just tricked my body into doing it with hormone therapy. Since then no period.

Last July I did my first Whole30 and I have done a couple of them since and stayed pretty strict paleo.
3 months ago I had a bleeding. I felt different but I didn't want to celebrate too early in case it was just some spotting. Well, since then I have been completely regular! I am not having anymore children, but it is still a huge thing for me that my body finally feels healthy enough to have a period again. I honestly never thought that would happen!
It might be a weird thing to celebrate but... yiiiipppie!

Good morning    I can't believe it's Thursday.  I'm sorry I haven't checked in, but as a mom with lots of kiddos life is ramping up with school about to start.

I started on Monday as I said I would and I've been cooking meals for my family of ten (we have 8 kiddos) and I actually am doing well! I have struggled a tad bit this morning as my daughter left to college and I miss her terribly already. On top of that, she made donuts (she loves to bake!) for breakfast and so my zucchini and eggs didn't seem as exciting.

I haven't really felt bad or anything, but I think I'm at a point where those donuts, the bagels on the grocery list, and pasta is really starting to tap me on the shoulder. My coffee has been black, every day, but the cup is looking a little sad without my cream and sugar.

So,.....anyone who would like to offer some advice, I'll take it.

Sounds like folks are doing pretty well and the expected 'feelings' are happening for some, I'll be praying for all of you to be able to 'stay the course' and finish strong.

    Talk to y'all soon!

Yeah I lost some weight doing a paleo diet but after a few months it started getting harder to stay on track so I mostly started whole30 to sorta kick that back into gear( plus I know I don't have a good emotional connection with food and I need to fix that) since I already lost some weight though people are acting like I'm crazy for doing "another diet" they don't get it at all, Which is mostly fine I don't expect everyone to get it but it is difficult defending it. Especially cause I know there is NOTHING wrong with cutting out processes food! How on earth could that be a bad thing!!??

YES!!!! My best friend told me this was just another fad diet I was going to fail at and ironically he's doing Atkins right now eats bacon like it's going out of style, he also told me last weekend he ate an entire pizza because he just couldn't do Atkins anymore. My fiance' has been super supportive, everyone else I've told I just told them it's an elimination diet my dr wants me to try to see if we can determine where my stomach problems are coming from :-) Which is partially true, my dr. DID recommend it and that seems to get them off my back about it.

Hi everyone. I'm kinda late in the game with the introduction but I started Aug. 11th also.

I decided to do the whole 30 to help with my Crohn's disease. I'm on Remicade and that does a good job of keeping things in check but I was still eating something I shouldn't and couldn't figure out what it was so hopefully the whole 30 will help me figure that out and make my intestines feel a little better. Hoping I lose some weight with it too. Not stepping on the scale is going to be hard.

My husband isn't doing this with me so I couldn't clean out the pantry and get rid of the "bad" stuff but I think I'll be okay as long as I have plenty of food prepped and ready to eat. On Sundays I tend to cook all my meals for M-F because I'm always on the go with work, school and gym. So that helps.

It's day 3 and I'm a little tired today and snapped at the hubby this morning when he woke me before my alarm had went off. lol. I'm usually very mellow and that was so unlike me. Guess I'll be apoligizing later for that one.

Sticking to just the 3 meals is something I'm struggling with. I'm use to eating something little every 2-3 hours. And I'm dying for some bacon but couldn't find any at my grocery that didn't have sugar so guess I'll be ordering some.

Looking forward to getting to know you guys and tackling this whole 30 together.

I have to admit day 1 was much harder than I expected! I've been paleoish for a while and thought that would give me an advantage but it really didn't. Not sweetening my coffee was difficult & I attempted to switch my second cup to tea but I didn't like that much either so I spent most of the day being super tired without my real caffein fix. I realize now I need to pack a bigger lunch and I need to have it later in the day since I'm used to snacking after lunch. I'm usually a grazer so not being able to pick all day was harder than I thought it would be. It's just such a habit that several times today I almost picked up junk food without I even realizing it!!! The excitement I had when I was preparing for this is gone right now I just feel like it's going to be a long 30 days! Hopefully it gets easier like the book says....anyone else feeling slightly discouraged???
