    September 8th, anyone?

All for a January reset as well! Been about 75/25 on program, but that is not enough. At least it is enough to keep the weight lost off.

Clairezip - sounds like a great way to do up the butternut squash. Will have to try it. I bought dates to make one dish and I should be looking for ways to use up the rest of them. I still get the notices when there is a new posting on this tread and have been watching how great you all have been doing. I did go through a few weeks of re-introduction and learned a lot that has helped me. So now I am back on the whole 30 program as I saw just how much better this was making me feel. For me I found that dairy causes congestion issues within a couple of hours - it is very fast. The congestion is in my sinus and causes flem in the back of the throat. In addition, if I have dairy each of several days in a row, the congestion affects my right ear and that is the cause of my hearing loss. What a revelation! I also found that gluten is not my friend. The effects are a bit more subtle, but after a couple of days of just having one serving a day, I see the general bad feeling come back. Overall pain is increased, dull headache and bad mood - depression like symptoms. This was the most amazing thing I found. It was not immediate, but I now see that over 1/2 of my personal happiness level is directly related to the foods I eat. This is something I can control! I have not specifically tested the non-gluten grains, but I will at some point - need to know if it is all grains or just the gluten ones. So after going through the re-introduction - I am back and feel I have found the right way for me to be healthy. Do want to share a fabulous meal that I made last weekend. http://www.threebeansonastring.com/housewife-chicken-apples-fall-vegetables/ I did not have compliant bacon, so I used a chicken apple sausage cut into small pieces. Substituted Ghee for butter and used a mixture of red wine vinegar and chicken broth for the red wine. This was so good that it is now a front runner to make for Christmas day. I do recommend getting skinless boneless chicken thighs - just easier to eat. But we made with regular thighs and it was fantastic.

Jclayton73. This is excellent news! Great job! That should give you plenty of incentive to continue the great work!

Fgermain - just saw that you are looking for compliant sausage. I found the Jones brand - frozen - pork links all natural are compliant for a breakfast sausage. They are in most grocery stores. Of course they are the one option that does not go on sale - at least that I have seen.

Ladyshanny and fgermain - I am very impressed with your results! And your motivation to continue! I have tried some reintroductions, but the main one that I am keeping out is sugar. I have found that dairy causes congestion and flem in the back of my throat. I see that I will really be limiting that in my diet. Whole grains are good for me, though. But have to be in moderation as I want to limit the sugar impact. Soy and legumes are ok, but also will be limited as I am concerned about the sugar processing. I won't get my blood work done until early December, so will see how the internals are at that time. However, I am continuing to lose and am now down 20.2lbs at the end of week 5. Still pleased with the overall results. I think next week I will back on another whole 7-14 day plan. Taking me closer to Thanksgiving. Also, I have started to apply for jobs and have a face to face interview on the 20th. I am hopeful that this interview goes well and I can end my job search basically as soon as it began! LOL!

    September 8th, anyone?

I have to share this.. Yesterday I had to pick up my daughter late from school and run an errand before we went home. Although I had planned dinner, she asks me if my diet is over. LOL. I tell her that the 30 days are up, but we both know I need to continue on this path. I can hear the disappointment in her voice. So I agreed to swing by Burger King to pick up dinner for her, my mother and the dog. As we are driving there, I realise that I can have their plain burger without the bun. So I ordered a double cheese burger (I was adding dairy for the first day) with nothing else on it. I had that with a large bowl of homemade butternut squash soup and the rest of the family had burger king. The dog got the bun from my burger. IT felt great sticking with my plan even in the pressure of a teenager. LOL I see from yesterday that dairy will be limited in my diet. Woke up with much more congestion, today. Sticking back to Whole 30 for the next couple of days!

Britishgal. All that sounds excellent! Yesterday, I allowed some dairy back in. I had cream with my coffee - heavenly! And a slice of cheese on my hamburger at dinner, but that was it. Today and tomorrow is full whole 30 with either Friday or Saturday th day to add back non gluten grains. Which day it is depends on if I have an interview scheduled on Friday. If yes, I will hold off till Saturday for the next reintroduction. Back to tea with coconut milk for at least until at least next week for me!

Thanks everyone for the congrats on my results. I am not looking to diminish the results that I saw this first month - clearly this is working for me - but you really need to keep in context how far away from a healthy weight I am. Where some have stated that they are aiming to take off 30-40lbs, from where I am currently, I still need to take off an additional 160lbs to reach the healthy weight range. I have never been exceptionally close to that number and all I am looking to be is in a healthier place than I am and have been for years. I personally feel that a Paleo diet (or taking it a bit further with a Whole 30 diet) is the direction I need to go. I find this is something that I can fit into my life. I can see myself going on Whole 7 and Whole 14 on a regular basis. I will probably look into another Whole 30 after the holidays. Of course, if I see my results are reversing themselves, I will be on a whole 30 much sooner. :-) I just want to see my blood work results to confirm that my inside is doing as good as I feel. I am so now aware of not only the dangers of sugar, but all the places that the food industry is hiding added sugar where there is really no need. Thanks again and I look forward to hearing others day 31 results!

Libbyhunter - Great Job! I did not take pictures before as even if I lost a good sum of weight, there will not be much of a difference between the 2. I did take measurements, so will see how those come out. I have far more than the 30-40lbs to lose that some have posted. So even if I lost more than 10lbs, most people would not even see it. Of course I can see a difference and I have been shopping in my closet for pants that I can't recall the last time I wore! So it will be interesting to take my measurements tomorrow morning (today is my day 30, but I want to complete the 30 days before re-measuring). I have decided to reintroduce dairy for tomorrow. Mostly because I REALLY want a cup of pumpkin coffee with cream. Will only go with a smaller cup than I use to get, though. I also think that I may take my daughter to her favorite fro-yo place as well. We stopped after her final fall league lacrosse game with her team, yesterday, but I did good in just going next door to starbucks for a cup of tea (plain). However one of the mothers was telling me how good their pumpkin yogurt was. Will go back to full Whole 30 for Wednesday and Thursday and then will go non-gluten grains for Friday - Already plan to make beef / mushroom / barley soup for dinner that night along with pumpkin steel cut oats for the morning breakfast. Then back to whole 30 for the weekend. I don't know if I will do a re-intro to soy. After watching Fed Up and reading labels, too many soy products have added sugar - I may eventually do it, but not right away.

Totally agree with you on both. I get annoyed when reading the food labels and seeing added sugar to everything. I have made the decision that clean eating is the way to go and if I really want some pasta, it will wait till the occasional dinner out with friends, but even then it will not be often. I lived on whole grain pasta and now I have so little desire for it. What I want is whole oats, barley, quinoa, wheat berry - not processed bread and pastas. Right there is a huge change for me. I just have to give the whole grains a try to see how my body handles them. If even those do not do well, I know that I will drop them from the diet as well as sugar. I am happy to have broken the sugar habit. I look forward to my blood work next month to prove these changes are from the inside out.

Britishgal- the approach you took to the low carb eating is. The method I intend on using for after the Whole 30 and makes a lot of sense.n It especially holds true if it is culturally unacceptable to request restaurants to adapt to your dietary needs and would make you that uncomfortable to ask them. My intention is to follow strict whole 30 5-6 days a week. Buy I miss whole grains (not craving, but just miss having some) and some of the great recipes. But I feel that I also have a great tool to come back to again for 30 days session when I stray too far or too often.
