my co-worker gave me this link  http://www.paleofondue.com/2014/10/24/paleo-swedish-meatballs/
have fun making them!  I actually doubled the batch and cooked them in the oven. it was just too tedious cooking on the stove top.  I also cooked the onion and garlic for longer than recommended, i just think they are more flavorful when cooked longer....

Hi books and coffee - I'll post here - or I'd be happy to move to that forum if everyone is switching.

What do you all want to do?

I have gained back 6lbs since the 20 I lost on my whole 60, my joint pain is back, my skin has broken out - I can't believe how quickly the negative stuff comes back.  I am eating clean today and tomorrow and taking a short break on New years eve and then January 1 I am going to commit to whole 90.  Anyone want to do that long with me?

    Doing ok here.

I had my usual pre-W30 venti iced coffee with cream on Monday, just for the experimental hedonistic pleasure of it.  It tasted great but it did not work out well!  Tummy upset and I was up until about 3 am, restless and miserable.

I am struggling a little with how to move on with my life... I have come to a place where I get comfort from the template (in the beginning it really stressed me out!).  I love not having cravings.  My weight is still slowly (and I mean slowly lol) going down.  But I feel guilty if I stray from the template or eat a non-compliant food, even if it is not necessarily an unhealthy one.  I think my best way to move forward is going to have to be making my peace with a 90-95% compliant lifestyle for now. I do not eat wheat anymore (fgermain, I used to love ezekiel toast!) and my body has told me that I should avoid dairy for the time being.

Cooked short ribs for the first time ever this week - they were easy and incredible!  Seasoned them with S&P, browned them, threw them in a crock pot with diced onion, garlic, celery and carrot and a cup of apple juice, cooked them on low for 8 hours and served over cauli mash.  Sooo good.

My Florida trip is next week, I am going to do the best that I can.

Anybody thinking of doing a January/February reset?

    hey, how's everyone doing?

I have been "off roading" for a few days now.  I'm eating things with dairy and sugar in them.  Some unknowns also.  I had chicken from a store deli today, one baked breast and one fried wing.  Yeh, not feeling too good now.  Didn't eat well at all today, not working, so no structure around my day, and when I got home this evening I was hungry and "cravy" so I ate Ezekel toast with almond butter and some apple, while I cooked a compliant dinner.  I agree with the "I'm tired of it" comment from Britishgal, I'm back on full compliant diet tomorrow.  Nothing good has come of this.  Sure, I had my favorite toast, but I wasn't enjoying it leisurely...and sure, I had some good bacon this morning, but not so good I have to eat more any time soon.  The convenience of the foods I ate today, does NOT out weigh the way I feel when I cook my own food.
Now, to pull myself out of the hole I dug myself into!

bought a good variety of veggies and have some food already cooked, so just a little more meal planning and I should be good!

hope everyone else is doing good!

    Jclayton79-nice!
Yes, My body agrees with this way of life also.
I finished my 2nd W30 on Fri. So on Sat. I had a piece of chocolate. It was worth it! I also know it's not good enough chocolate for me to eat more. Today I put 1 tsp. of a mocha mix in my coffee, (I have yet to drink it). I'm choosing to reintroduce sugar in small amounts & see where my fine line is, with hopes of not causing out of control cravings.
I already know the effect of dairy, so no need for reintro. But I am wanting to bring Ezekel bread back into my diet. With my new way of eating I've yet to see where to fit it in.....so may just skip it. Haven't decided yet.....
    Who else is reintro'ing?
    (yes, made-up word)
Saw ladyshannys' blog-you gotta make it work for your own life. Good decision!
I get the impression we have all made some life-changing choices with our food. I know I for sure have.
Keep in touch.....Im interested in hearing how reintro is going, if anyone else is doing that @ this time.

    Hi all,
I'm still pluggin' along, after my day 31 meal of Pad Thai, I'm back at it.  Not really keeping track, but if need, I could track back and count the days.    But my goal for doing this has been successful, a little more each day.......
my eating habits have changed, i no longer crave foods(ie: chips, ice cream, popcorn, etc.)  I no longer binge eat.  I'm productive in the evenings, instead of feeling like i just got hit by a MAC truck and unable to think/function.
I'm being patient with reintroduction, I want to be sure I'm able to give my reintro. the time and attention it needs.
I'm also working on steering my focus away from food for celebritory purposes.  I can be compliant for my Bday and Thanksgiving, becaus I can "celebrate" with out food.
This whole journey for me has been such a positive experience, with the occasional tough day here and there  .
Britishgal-  I'll keep checking in here also, it's a good group and the support has been great!

I had work training for a couple of weeks and have been too busy to stop by, but I am so happy that this thread is still going.

So, I bought dates on 10/17 with the intention of adding some sugar to see how it went. I added dates to one meal a day and I stayed compliant until 10/25 when I went to visit my mom hungry and I ate candy for "dinner".  They were ordering chinese food for dinner, and there is one restaurant nearby that has compliant choices, but my stepdad refused to order from there because they messed up his order before. I definitely have a history of emotional eating at my Mom's.  Then this past weekend, I dove into a bowl of halloween candy like it was my job!

To make things worse, none of the junk that I ate even tasted good!

Yesterday I went on a class trip with my daughter and packed a sandwich on a gluten-free bun, but back on track today, 2 compliant meals so far.

    LMAO...Im gonna try it!
And speaking of husbands, why is it that the poor devils get the brunt of our shitty moods? Sorry you were stewing on a fight all day....I do that too (and every other woman on the planet, perhaps?). I would say that the stewing and nitpicky fighty bits are fewer, further between and less intense than they have been in months gone by.....on the other hand I don't feel overly passionate about anything at the moment and sometimes I think it's the Whole30-100 to blame for that.....it takes a tonne of work and energy and mental process and emotional healing and there's just not a lot left at the end of the day. Hmmm....
Anyone else feeling the lack of passion these days (I'm not just talking about sex, either....just in general)?

And while doing the Whole 30 the question about the bottle of soda is a lot easier to answer... when your limit is 0 grams, 65 grams is just madness.

Haha, no, I won't do it.  I was sorely tempted....fortunately my advil kicked in, my uterus calmed down and my head cleared up.  Thank HEAVENS.

I really want to save it in the freezer until my "end" but honestly.............that is just shit that opens up too many doors to dark places.  So I will begrudgingly give it to my husband.  I may or may not French kiss him the second he is done eating it.  That doesn't count, right?

Day 38 of my Whole100...and unfortunately got a hormonal migraine yesterday afternoon that has lasted through the night and is still with me this morning.  Normally I would have had the headache for the 4-6 days leading up to my period...but only got it yesterday and, if all goes as normal, it should be gone by this evening.  So although I am suffering right now, I'm actually suffering significantly LESS than in months gone by. I'll take that!

fgermain - Right there with you regarding your job! I'm a medical resident and have been in an ICU this month. A month was enough.. it really takes a toll. Being so busy makes being compliant both easier and harder at the same time. About the coffee, I'm embarrassed to say I never really gave it up. I forgot to have coffee one day and had a headache that lasted about 36 hours.. Which made me scared about giving it up! It also made me realize how dependent I am now. I only have one cup a day, I think I would have to wean down to ½ cup, very slowly.

    Hi All!
so on day 5 of another 70, I'm committing to the W100 with ladyshanny...why the hell not eh?  I'm doing well. No big issues to report.  I do have to say, my last two days at work were very stressful and usually bring out the sugar monster in me by late afternoon.(I work 7a-7p).  There is usually some sort of snack food available, noncompliant of course.  Yesterday I just took a quick break and ate my hardboiled egg and a handful of cashews, and I was fine. It is so nice to not have a sugar crash in the afternoons anymore!  I joke that I used to be irritable from my sugar/caffeine crash, but now I see I really am just a b*tch!    I'm a Unit Sec./Ward Clerk in a 15 bed ICU, so it can get very stressful at times.
Today is my big shopping and cooking day, so I better get off here and get to gettin'.

booksandcoffee-I was reading thru the first few days of this post and saw you were dealing with coffee issues.  What did you end up doing?

Hope anyone doing reintro. are doing well!

you know Heather, I've been browsing thru other forums on this site, and it's interesting the different responses to why one would start over.  The answer I saw most recently is from a Moderator, so I take it more seriously.  He said if it was sugar you ate, you don't have to start over, (I would cut and paste it, but that's beyond my capabilities this a.m.!) but if it was any form of say, grain, gluten type stuff, you would for sure have to start over.  The reasoning behind that is the effect it has on our bodies and the "reset" button, etc.
Anyone else see info. about this?

Good for you with sticking to it.  It does seem easier when we know we feel good being compliant.

Hey ladies!!! Glad to see everyone is still truckin' along! I'm doing excellent right along with you all!
A good friend of mine from work is starting her first whole 30 today. We got together yesterday and talked about meal planning and grocery lists. Right now I have a stockpile of frozen partial meals so my grocery list is pretty short this week... Yay me!! Next week will be different. Lol
I decided that this time around I would weigh myself whenever I please. I realize that doing whole30 is not about the number on the scale but I like to watch the number fall... And this morning, I am now down a total of 8.4 pounds since Sept 8th, however, I am down 20' ish pounds since going paleo in March of this year! And that has been virtually with no exercise other than an occasional walk. This morning I was able to put on the size 10 crop pants that have been in my drawer since early last year mocking me. I've been using them as my non scale victory and I HAVE ARRIVED!!! Complete with no muffin top!! So happy this morning!
A doctor that I used to work with has been eating paleo for a while and she lets herself have a non-paleo meal once a quarter. I'm considering adopting this as well but instead of being paleo, I would continue to do whole30's between quarterly special occasions. No official decisions made yet but it seems like a good idea.
Hope you all are having a great weekend!
Oh and ladyshanny, I completely agree about the bewbs are the first to go for those lacking, and the last to go for those with plenty! We can't win, can we?!

Fgermain - just saw that you are looking for compliant sausage. I found the Jones brand - frozen - pork links all natural are compliant for a breakfast sausage. They are in most grocery stores. Of course they are the one option that does not go on sale - at least that I have seen.

Ladyshanny and fgermain - I am very impressed with your results! And your motivation to continue!
I have tried some reintroductions, but the main one that I am keeping out is sugar.
I have found that dairy causes congestion and flem in the back of my throat. I see that I will really be limiting that in my diet. Whole grains are good for me, though. But have to be in moderation as I want to limit the sugar impact. Soy and legumes are ok, but also will be limited as I am concerned about the sugar processing.
I won't get my blood work done until early December, so will see how the internals are at that time. However, I am continuing to lose and am now down 20.2lbs at the end of week 5. Still pleased with the overall results.
I think next week I will back on another whole 7-14 day plan. Taking me closer to Thanksgiving. Also, I have started to apply for jobs and have a face to face interview on the 20th. I am hopeful that this interview goes well and I can end my job search basically as soon as it began! LOL!

I survived the weekend and stayed compliant, well mostly.

On Saturday night I had a mini vacation with my mom and my daughters (meaning we stayed overnight at a hotel with a pool - my kids were in heaven lol). I packed two compliant meals, but there were great restaurants and I was a tad mentally prepared to stray if it came up.  The first night the kids wanted room service, so I ate the meal I brought and some house made kettle chips from room service.  They did not taste as good as i thought they would!  The next morning I braved a buffet, again with the mindset that I might "be bad", but I ended up doing ok - low carb, not a lot of veggies: a piece of steak, a piece of prime rib, a piece of salmon, olives, fruit, broccoli. And only one plate, a lot different from a normal buffet experience.  The salmon said cured and there was obviously sugar in the cure, but omg so delicious. I think I got sugar and some dairy (butter on the broccoli) in that meal. Then I ate my next packed meal for lunch and am back on the compliant track since then.

Technically I suppose I would start back on Day 1 after Sunday?  I am going to keep compliant and carry on.

Added almond meal (an AIP omission) back in on Friday, thankfully it seems to be ok.  I rely on it as a "breading" for chicken and pork chops.

Also, love those Jones frozen breakfast sausages but have not had any on my W30.
