How did everyone's Day 2 go? I actually found the weekday a relief, because it offered an easier routine/schedule when it came to eating the 3 meals. I find it harder to have the structure on weekends. Based on how today went, I need to increase how much I have for lunch because I was really feeling those snack cravings by 3pm. The night isn't over, but I am hoping I can get the motivation together to do a workout. Here's to an almost-close to Day 2...28 days to go!

San Francisco, CA here! My Sunday has been filled with non-stop food prep. I'm going back to some tried and true dishes that were a huge help with successful past Whole 30 rounds, and some other new modified dishes, that I'll list here in case folks are interested in trying out: chicken thighs seasoned with s&p and smoked paprika, quick browning in ghee in cast iron, then finished off in the oven to complete cooking through kale sauteed with prosciutto and a little lemon roasted sweet potato, carrots, hard-boiled eggs Made sure to pick up compliant almond milk to go with my morning coffee. Also picked up some dates with almonds to satisfy my sweet tooth (I tried one today and it was very sweet and only managed to finish half). For this round, I am going to limit my fruit intake, and I'm hoping the occasional date will be enough to get me through.

Would love to join you guys for the Nov 1st start! I did a successful 60-day program a year ago with great results, but have had the hardest time getting back on the wagon since. My biggest challenge are a tight budget and that I don't cook a lot, which leads to a lot of meal repetitions but I find I didn't mind after the initial 2 weeks. I have a Hawaii vacation in under with months and would like to go into that feeling good.

    Starting September 7

Hey everyone - I'll be starting tomorrow, Tue 9/8. This isn't my first go at it, but this time around, I would like to incorporate exercise, something I haven't been able to do in any of the past rounds. Will probably wait until this heat wave is over though. My first Whole 30 was last October, and I managed to continue through to 60 days. Felt so much better: improved digestion, sleep, skin, etc. I actually just finished another round a couple of days ago, but for some reason, it was much, much harder, especially during the last week. I was very irritable and just plain angry with how "restricted" things felt. I think I was going through some sort of funk that extended beyond Whole 30 though (work, finances, home). Hoping some relief is around the corner. Did a bunch of food prep today. Meaty tomato sauce, spanish tortilla (basically, onion and potato omelette), prep'd chicken in brine to cook them up in coconut flour tomorrow. And then I have chicken-apple sausage and peppers waiting to be cooked for later this week. Last month's Whole 30 round got me back on black coffee, thankfully. Ok good luck to everyone, whether you've started or are about to. We can totally do this!

Kidsparrow37 – great to hear on the improvement with your nose. That is pretty amazing especially after 4 years! Lostincolo – great job with incorporating physical activity. I need to add that back in my life. We got a new dog (well, as of 1.5 month ago) and she likes to go for walks. My last dog, who sadly passed away in May, was never into outdoorsy stuff. So Sundays will include hikes to the beach, at least. Tamara73 and Smash2277 – welcome! Glad to have you with us!! I’ve managed to skip going to coffee shop the past 2 mornings. It’s such a strong part of my morning routine. I usually get an almond milk latte from Peet’s, but I know that it is not Whole30 compliant. So for now, black coffee! Meals are going ok. My workweek meals are pretty repetitive and plain. Breakfast are eggs and fruit (need to add in vegetables, I know). Lunch is chicken apple sausage and peppers. And dinner is beef/pork hamburger patty, cucumbers, and plantains. The plantains have been more of my desert crutch. I think I will be relying on them to survive this first week. I need to cut down on the plantain portions though. Weird observation, and not sure if it has anything to do with change of eating, but my eyes have been blurry lately. Noticed yesterday and today. If it continues for over a week, then I may get it checked out at eye doctors.

Start date August 9th, first time!

Today, Aug 9th, is also my first day. My first round was in October 2014 and I managed to make it through 60 days. I experienced a lot of benefits: weight loss, increased energy, better skin, and most importantly, stomach issues were resolved. Since then, I have made many failed attempts at getting back to the program; and definitely enjoying sugar and dairy way too much. I'm using an upcoming vacation as a motivator: 143 days away! I've still yet to feel comfortable in my body wearing a bathing suit in public. A challenge for me is the cooking. My grocery budget is limited and I don't particularly enjoy cooking. My plan is to keep things simple, which I know will be hard in the beginning. I noticed at my first rounds of Whole 30, I reached a point where I realized I was eating more for fuel and sustenance, rather than satisfying my taste buds. I am looking forward to getting back to that. I also attribute the Oct-2014 success with checking in with a group on this forum who also had the same start dates. Looking forward to staying connected with you kidsparrow37 as we embark these next 30 days! Good luck to us both!!

    September 8th, anyone?

Hey ladies! Just wanted to pop in and say hello. The January attempt was not successful for me. And since then, it's been so hard to get back to a commitment; even though I've been through this before and can attest to the benefits! So frustrating. Anyways, I'm thinking of doing a Whole 7 starting this Sunday. I think the idea of 30 days is overwhelming me and then I end up just sabotaging myself. Let me know if you're interested in joining me. Would love the company.

How's everyone doing? Earlier this week, I noticed at the same always-thirsty/chapped-lips symptoms as I had the first time around. Happy Friday!

First workday success! Stayed compliant all day. Whew!

    September 8th, anyone?

Day 1 and 2 went well overall, with the exception of an almond milk latte. I was intending to let go of coffee altogether while on Whole 30, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. I was listening to some talk radio the other day, and they were discussing resolutions and commitments. There was a website mentioned where people pledge their commitment/promise/resolution, and if they don't follow-through, they have to donate an amount they designated initially at set-up to a charity that they do not favor (NRA was a popular one). I'm actually not going to do exactly this, but I thought it was a smart method for keeping me on track. So whenever I get the temptation to go off-plan, that means I'm not allowed to get my eyelash extensions filled (which I do monthly). Other ideas would be not getting pedicures, manicures, haircut, movies, etc. I made some chocolate chili. Not in love with it anymore. I need variety!!!

    September 8th, anyone?

Hey ladies - count me in for a Jan 1st reboot. I feel like crap. This morning, I had a bagel with cream cheese and coffee with cream and sugar, and I can only connect those things to the indigestion I am having (and dealing with it while at work, UGH). I am finding myself justifying a lot of the junk food I'm having, especially as we close up the year. It's exactly my old dieting habits creeping back up...allowing myself some last hurrahs before the deprivation begins... I've noticed too during this off-roading period that my daily coffee habit has come back. While I was on my Whole60, I completely gave up coffee and didn't even miss it, which revealed that I didn't need to rely on it to be productive. Plus it saved me a lot of money. But now, after allowing myself a latte here and there as a treat, it's come back full-blown. What's stupid is that I don't even need it for the energy. It's all mental...thinking that it such a part of my morning routine so "I have to have it." Looking forward to kicking this one. I'm not sure if I've gained back any weight, but I'll be sure to check Thu morning. Although, I am pretty sure I've added back some inches around my stomach. As for which message board to use, I think I will continue to post here primarily since we are all familiar with each other's journey and it would be great to keep that going. But I know there might be some useful information in the Jan 1st message board that I wouldn't want to miss; so I think I'll follow that too with mostly reading, and then posting whenever I want to chime in.

    September 8th, anyone?

Hi everyone! I'm am so down for a January reset too!! After completing my Whole 60, I continued with keeping things compliant, with a really slow but unstructured reintroduction. Because of that, I can't pinpoint what's causing issues with headaches, bloating, etc. Last week I came down with the flu (or maybe it was a severe cold...I am never quite sure), and unfortunately, when I'm sick, the only things that make me feel better is Chinese food and/or pizza. So I had those things over the weekend, and was so irritable and moody, in addition to waking up with a migraine headache this morning. Also I pulled my back day before Thanksgiving. It was getting better but I strained it this past Saturday. Ugh, I am such a mess right now. My intentions this week is to keep foods 90% or better compliant. After going through the raging mid-day headache, I instantly missed the Whole 30 clean days when I wasn't going through these.

    September 8th, anyone?

Happy Day 60! Congrats to us and everyone else who stuck to our commitments, however we defined them. Weigh-in and measurements for me tomorrow. Going forward, I am planning to stick to this way of eating for the majority of the week, and allow myself a non-compliant meal or 2. I do want to start re-introduction though so that I know what's on my "absolutely no" list. The shift in how I see food is evident. I'm less and less requiring to have my food statisfy an emotional need. I'm eating mainly for fuel, and am less caught up with how it tastes. Never thought I'd see the day!
