flora123 got a reaction from DeeZaftig in Starting September 7
Hey everyone - I'll be starting tomorrow, Tue 9/8. This isn't my first go at it, but this time around, I would like to incorporate exercise, something I haven't been able to do in any of the past rounds. Will probably wait until this heat wave is over though.

My first Whole 30 was last October, and I managed to continue through to 60 days. Felt so much better: improved digestion, sleep, skin, etc. I actually just finished another round a couple of days ago, but for some reason, it was much, much harder, especially during the last week. I was very irritable and just plain angry with how "restricted" things felt. I think I was going through some sort of funk that extended beyond Whole 30 though (work, finances, home). Hoping some relief is around the corner.

Did a bunch of food prep today. Meaty tomato sauce, spanish tortilla (basically, onion and potato omelette), prep'd chicken in brine to cook them up in coconut flour tomorrow. And then I have chicken-apple sausage and peppers waiting to be cooked for later this week. Last month's Whole 30 round got me back on black coffee, thankfully.

Ok good luck to everyone, whether you've started or are about to. We can totally do this!

flora123 got a reaction from kidsparrow37 in Start date August 9th, first time!
Today, Aug 9th, is also my first day. My first round was in October 2014 and I managed to make it through 60 days. I experienced a lot of benefits: weight loss, increased energy, better skin, and most importantly, stomach issues were resolved. Since then, I have made many failed attempts at getting back to the program; and definitely enjoying sugar and dairy way too much. I'm using an upcoming vacation as a motivator: 143 days away! I've still yet to feel comfortable in my body wearing a bathing suit in public.

A challenge for me is the cooking. My grocery budget is limited and I don't particularly enjoy cooking. My plan is to keep things simple, which I know will be hard in the beginning. I noticed at my first rounds of Whole 30, I reached a point where I realized I was eating more for fuel and sustenance, rather than satisfying my taste buds. I am looking forward to getting back to that.

I also attribute the Oct-2014 success with checking in with a group on this forum who also had the same start dates. Looking forward to staying connected with you kidsparrow37 as we embark these next 30 days! Good luck to us both!!

Glad to see so many of you here!  Day 1 and I'm pumped!!

fgermain I'd love to have a whole 90 partner!  Hope you'll do it with me!   I say whole 90, but what I really mean is 3 whole 30's broken up with a glass or two of wine.  So finish one whole 30, have a glass of wine and start the next.  I plan to do that because I love wine.

How are you all feeling about today?

I'm in! I am not doing anything differently, this is how I normally eat. Been doing this for 2 months, lost 30 pounds and several inches! Dumb me didn't measure until a few weeks ago, so I only have 2 measurements, but none of my clothes fit and I can feel a difference both physically and mentally. It was pretty tough the first few weeks as I used to eat lots of breads and cheeses (was not gluten free either) I still have a long way to go, would love to lose another 60+ lbs. Things are going well though, I joined for some support, I still get cravings for bad foods...I did really well over the holidays, which is a first for me! I was very proud of myself anyway...that's why I'm here! For support.

Can't believe Day 60 is in a couple of days!
I never ended up meeting the frequency if workouts I intended for this round, but I am satisfied with what I was able to add in.
Plantains and Aidells chicken sausage have been a lifesaver for me the last few days.
How's everyone else that's doing whole 60 doing?

I'm so with you, Heather. I think it all peaked yesterday. I picked a fight with my husband in the morning before leaving for work (over something so insignificant), let it brew all day, and returned home with all that contained anger to continue the fight. I feel terrible. I've been having a rough, defeated past week and I just took it out on him.

Yes, I have tried the chocolate chili and is huge part of my current meal rotation. I'm not a huge chili eater, and the first time I made it, it was good but I didn't LOVE it. I think the spices were overpowering (but I think that's because I didn't have sour cream or cheese to tone it down). But the second time I made it, I had 3lbs of ground beef instead of 2, and it came out perfect to how I like it. Plus it lasts longer - I jar up half and stick in the freezer. Even my husband, who's not doing Whole30, said it was so good! I haven't done the fried egg on top, but I have done chili scramble and I squeeze some lemon on top. so good!

Oh Wow everbody! Super great results!
Ladyshanny-what a little cutie you are! Nice to see the results.
I lost 6.7lbs. as of Mon.(no scale @ home so will weigh again on [email protected] work)
No measurements, wasn't my focus but am really really pleased I went down a pant size.
Jordanbrooks-I hope you continue....there has to be a light at the end of the tunnel, no matter how long it is.
Flora123-great plan! I'm going to do a similar plan. Introduce routine exercise, keep my 3 meals a day, & be more aware of my portion sizes.
I'm not confident that my old habits won't jump out @ me also, & the structure of W30 is really working for me.
I had a piece of frittata @ my favorite coffee shop & it was full of veggies, & must have been made with cream, because it was Devine!
I'm planning a healthy lunch & strict compliant dinner.
    Yeah us!!
I'll get back on strict W30 tomorrow. No need to slip back any more than today.

Awesome results, everyone!! It does feel like Christmas morning =)
Congrats to everyone for committing to this challenge until the very end.

As for me, I'm down 7lbs - woohoo!

No updates on measurements because I didn't take "before" numbers, but I did a set today so looking forward how that changes at the next 30 milestone.

    My goals for this round:
Fully eliminate between-meal snacking. I think I've gotten this down to 2 times a week but goal is zero. EXERCISE!! i'm using Jillian Michael's Body Revolution. it's a 90-day program, 6 days a week and rest 1 day, half hour workouts. I've never been able to reach past week 4. I'm modifying it a bit so that I exercise 3 days in a row, rest 1 day, and repeat. Incorporate more mindful eating. I've actually started a MIndfulness-Based Stress Reduction class for my anxiety and panic disorder; and one of our assignments is to do mindful eating at meals, which is so hard! I'm always eating with a phone, with the TV, or book/newspaper, or talking to someone. Explore recipes and add 1 or 2 Go-To homemade meals to the rotation.

Good morning, all.  I weighed in this morning... exactly 10 lbs down!

I did not take measurements but, from my before and after pictures, it is clear I have lost weight particularly in my waist.  (Which, ironically, was not really a place I needed to lose weight but I will take it.)  I also look WAY WAY healthier.  My skin is clear and my face is not puffy anymore.  And I look happy!

One of my goals is to get to a healthy BMI.  I realize BMI is an imperfect measure of health.  However, as someone who has joint issues, I think it is a worthwhile measure for me in terms of the stress I put on my joints.  I am now out of the "obese" category and just overweight."  I have another 24 lbs to go to be in the normal range and another 29 lbs to hit what I would consider a comfortable stopping weight.  I am hopeful I can make this happen.

I am a little nervous about "off roading."  I have a feeling I am going to slide back into my old habits.  For now, I am just trying to not eat things that I don't want.  For example, this morning, I thought to myself... I can have coffee with cream now!  But honestly, I am fine with almond milk.  So... I will continue with that.

    I have to share this..
Yesterday I had to pick up my daughter late from school and run an errand before we went home. Although I had planned dinner, she asks me if my diet is over. LOL.
I tell her that the 30 days are up, but we both know I need to continue on this path. I can hear the disappointment in her voice.
So I agreed to swing by Burger King to pick up dinner for her, my mother and the dog. As we are driving there, I realise that I can have their plain burger without the bun. So I ordered a double cheese burger (I was adding dairy for the first day) with nothing else on it. I had that with a large bowl of homemade butternut squash soup and the rest of the family had burger king. The dog got the bun from my burger.
IT felt great sticking with my plan even in the pressure of a teenager. LOL
I see from yesterday that dairy will be limited in my diet. Woke up with much more congestion, today. Sticking back to Whole 30 for the next couple of days!

Good morning! My results are in and I'm down 7.2 pounds! I did retake my pictures but haven't had the opportunity to compare them to the pictures I took at the beginning of this whole 30. I also grabbed my measurements this morning so I can compare them at the end of this whole 30 which I guess is becoming a whole 60. At least. I'm thinking about continuing a strict whole 30 diet until Thanksgiving day. Then, maybe, I'll engage in some celebratory food items. No final decisions have been made at this time.
Can't wait to see everyone else's posts about their results! Have a great day!

I love, love, love seeing and hearing all of the results...even the not so good ones...because it means that we are in touch with ourselves.  I agree, Jordan, it can't be wrong to eat veggies, protein and fat....perhaps your body is still putting up resistance, but it'll come around if you give it time.  I'm going to 100 and I know there are some 90's and some 60's here...so you'll be in fine company if you decide to stick it out!

So I guess I'm the first (only?) person who is going to post pictures of myself in my underwear, LOL.  I don't weigh so I don't know what my weight loss number is.  I did measurements but they came up a bit weak as far as I'm concerned, especially since I'm in clothes I couldn't even get past my ass a month ago!

    Hi everyone -

Woohoo!!  Day 31 is here!!  Here's my numbers so far:  weight loss = 10.3 lbs. Lost 3" on my waist, 1/2" on chest, 1/2" on arm, 1/2" on hips, and nothing on thighs (boo).  What is interesting though - I woke up today feeling motivated and ready to take on the world (finally!). I think my tiger blood has finally hit!

My plan is to continue on like this, with the occasional glass of wine, and bacon!!!  How could I forget about bacon!! I was never able to find any in my area that was made without sugar, so excited to bring that back in. I would really like to lose another 30-40 lbs, so it will be interesting to see if any weight loss will slow after the first 30 days or if it will continue on at this pace.

We also have a new fitness challenge at work, so maybe that will help motivate me to kick in the exercise this next month.

Great job everyone!  So fun to see all of the inspiring results!!

    Hooray laxmom!!

I weighed this morning, down 6 pounds from day 1.  Which is good because the weight was just piling on all summer, I am much happier to see the number going down.  From eating nutritious foods and fat at every meal!  More importantly, on day 31 I woke up feeling good!  I think the yoga helped.

I am going to stay on my W30 for now.  I don't have a firm plan at this point.  I started doing AIP a little way into my W30, I will hit 30 days AIP on 10/18.  90 days of my W30 would be 12/5, but Thanksgiving is definitely a consideration for me.  I might want to have my reintroductions underway before then.  I don't intend to binge or anything, but I love that time of year and spending time with my family, and I know my mom bastes her turkey with butter.   I have been gravy and stuffing-free for 20 months now, so I can handle that, but I think I would like some of my mom's turkey on Thanksgiving.

i'm totally with you guys! one of my goals for 2nd round of whole 30 for me will be incorporating exercise. i started a "soft launch" this week by adding video workouts (strength & cardio) but doing them really light and easy to just get comfortable with the movements.

another one of my goals is eliminating the in-between snacking. for weeks 1 and 2, i couldn't get by without having a fruit or some nuts between meals. prior to whole30, i was so programmed to have 5-6 smaller meals a day; and because of that, i wasn't comfortable eating a full plate in the early weeks. weeks 3 and 4 have gotten better. i think i've only in-between snacked a few days in there. and i'm getting better with feeding myself sufficiently for breakfast.

i feel all sore and achy today...maybe the workouts? not sure. they're not the feel-good, feeling accomplished, muscle soreness. it's more feel-crappy, too hot, wanna-take-a-shower kind.

Looking forward to watching Fed Up this weekend. I asked my husband to find it, and for some reason, I kept insisting the name of the documentary was Well Fed...LOL

Also I wanted to ask you guys, who have had issues with headaches before, if the program has helped in that area any. I get headaches almost daily. Up until a few months ago, I didn't realize they were actually migraines. I saw my OB-GYN for my annual exam, and told her about the frequent headaches and the sensations I feel, and she said they might be due to the dosage of my birth control pills. So she changed them to a lower dosage; and although the intensity is a lower, they are still a pain. I was hoping that the cause of them might be a little bit due to my poor food choices, but doesn't seem so. It's been the same frequency before and after starting Whole30. She wants me to test it out by getting off the pill for a month and seeing if the headaches still come. So we'll see...

Other than that, I think the biggest change I've experienced with Whole 30 to date has to do with my stomach issues. I've never been officially diagnosed with IBS, but I'm pretty sure that's what I have. It would be so embarrasing having to excuse myself in the middle of a one-on-one meeting with my boss; or my stomach making the loudest noise in the middle of a meeting; or having to go to the bathroom in the middle of a meal (especially more embarrasing when you're out with friends or worse at their house). The first 2 items have definitely improved; and I've yet to test out the 3rd.

My bloating and energy levels fluctuate. Some days, I feel pretty good and smaller; and other days, the sloth feeling comes back.
