    September 8th, anyone?

I have not been here for over a week. Mostly because last week was not-so-great for me. After readint the last few pages-it sounds like a lot of us are struggling. The one thing I can say is that I AM going to finish this. After all this work and effort, I'm going to at least get to 30 days. As of week 2 I was really feeling great. Off my alergy/sinus meds, sleeping really well, with the exception of some wicked sugar cravingsI was a believer. Then week 3 happened...First off-I spent that weekend in NY with my son, who had been mugged, so I was upset by that (he is fine-it's just upsetting). As a result of not being home all weekend I didn't have much "whole 30" approved foods ready, so I was scrounging around, eating lots of eggs and things that are quick and easy to make so I could stay "legal" which I did. I was not feeling 100% the whole week, physically and emotionally. I can't say exactly what the problem was, but I just felt "bad". I wasn't sleeping well either. Fortunatley, as of this past Saturday, I'm feeling much better again. I made a few good whole 30 foods to keep me going this week and slept really well last night. So, I'm back on track, but that was really weird, and discouraging. The other discouraging thing is that I have only lost 4 lbs so far. A definite dissapointment considering what I have given up along with the exercise I am doing. But fear not-this week, I am adding a spin class and a yoga class to my current 3x per week at crossfit and hoping that will make the difference this last week. I have an appt for a physical tomorrow, so I plan to talk to my Dr. about a hormone imbalance. I think it's worth a discussion. Believe it or not, I'm thinking that I will continue on the whole 30 for another 2-4 weeks. I mean it is working in so many ways and I've come so far. Maybe a couple more weeks would make a difference with my weight? I'll see where I end up and make that decision at that time. So that's what's up with me. This has been a very easy but then again very difficult process to go through-that's for sure. On to day 23 tomorrow! Thanks for listening!

OK-I have not suffered too many cravings until yesterday afternoon... I was so overwhelmed with a sugar/chocolate craving! It was wicked. I opted for an RX bar. It felt like a treat partly because you get to unwrap it like a candy bar (sounds crazy, but for me it's true) and also it has enough sweetness in it too. So that did it this time, but I have to say the craving is still hanging on (I can feel it just below the surface). I can't say I'm surprised. I was a huge sugar-fiend before starting this diet, so I was expecting it to happen-I just thought it would be last week...thought I was over the worst of it... OK-so any suggestions for other options when it hits again (because I'm sure that it will). It's weird because sometimes, I'm not even hungry when I start thinking that I just want something sweet to eat. I HATE that! If I wasn't at work, I could go for a hike or something. I guess if it happens today-I'll go for a walk to see if it passes. Any other suggestions would be appreciated...

Here's a link for a video on how to make the Bulletproof coffee or coffee w Ghee: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SP8V3EB8OA8#t=37 She adds coconut oil and ghee. I've made it with just ghee and with ghee plus coconut milk ...I think it adds a bit of creaminess (I've never tried it with coconut oil because it sometimes gives me a stomach ache). When you blend it together it comes out really frothy-very appealing. I usually nuke it for a few seconds because sometimes blending cools it down a bit more than I like it. The caffien kick definitley lasts the whole morning and the fat fills you up so you may not even be hungry for breakfast (big bonus!) Give it a try. It's not half & half, but it's better than black coffeee and even though it sounds weird, it's really OK!

ventre123 here-yes that's the bullet coffee. give it a try...it's better than it sounds and much better than black coffee if you are used to drinking it with cream or milk. Try the coffee & ghee. It's better than it sounds and better than black coffee if you are used to having cream/milk. It definitley extends the caffien effect for the whole morning. I know it sounds crazy-but give it a go and let me know what you think. Oh-I added the coconut milk to the official recipe-just to make it a bit creamier. You can do it any way you like

OK-running late this AM-so I had an Apple Cinnamon RX bar with coffee/ghee&coconut milk for breakfast. It's 10:40am and I'm not hungry at all. Is this a bad breakfast solution? It's compliant & convenient - the 2 most important words since I started... I'm going to look up that chocolate chili-sounds like a winner.

    September 8th, anyone?

Hi-I started on September 8th. So far, so good. I haven't cheated yet. I'm doing whole 30 with a friend of mine, which definitley helps. But would like to join this group too for more ideas and support. At day 10, I can say that I am definitley sleeping better, my energy is up and I've stopped takingmy alergy meds (10 mg. Zyrtec) every day-which is amazing, since I've taken that pill every day for years...Apparently I'm allergic to dairy, wheat, sugar, luges or maybe gluten? Time will tell when I reintroduce these into my diet I guess. This is my first whole 30. To make things easier, I started ordering fresh-made whole-30 compliant meals from http://www.customfitmeals.com/. I'm not oncommision with these folks. I just had my first meal yesterday and it was really good. WILL keep you posted as I try more. Not all of their meals are whole 30 compliant-but usually 3-5 per week are, so I use these for my lunch. That leave me w only breakfast & dinner to figure out each day - much more do-able when starting a new program like this that involves so much pleanning and prepping...I hope by the end of the 30 days, I will be better versed and have some favorite/easy/go-to meals and snacks so I can cut out the extra cost. I have not made that mayonaise yet-but I will one night this week. That will add tuna & egg salad to my repertoire, which should help! I have been weighing myself (I know-we aren't supposed to) and that's the only thing that I have found dissapointing so far. the weight does not seem to want to come off. I am pot menopause-so I am sure hormones have something to do with it...but I will carry on-as the benefits far outweigh the one concern for now.

30 days complete but don't feel much different

OK-I'm on day 10 of whole 30. I know I shouldn't weigh myself, but I have been (as is my friend who is doing it with me). Before I tell you how disapointed I am by the fact that I lost 2 lbs the first week of the diet (yay!) but I am now back up those 2 lbs as of today (day 10), I must say that I am definitley sleeping better and my mood and energy levels are terrific as promised (yay!). I have also stopped taking my sinus medicine (10mg. Zyrtec) which I was taking daily . So overall I am very pleased with the changes I've experienced so far-but I have to say that I expected at least some weight loss in this process. I am currently going to Crossfit 3 times per week and doing the whole 30 diet religiously (absolutley no cheats). So I'm wondering if anyone can make any suggestions. I am 57 years old post menepause and thinking perhaps I should consider go onto hormones for a few months (if the whole 30 does not work) to get rid of the excess weight (30+ lbs). Before I do that-please let me know if there are any tips anyone might have. SHould I be avoiding the ghee? The cashews?, Any advice would be much appreciated...thanks!
