Day 6. Very lazy day, just couldn't motivate myself to do anything.
M1 eggs, sweet potatoes and spinach. M2 chicken and lettuce salad w/ balsamic vinegar. M3 Burrito bowls. Burrito bowls are very good, but very hard to watch my husband and daughter smother theirs with sour cream and cheddar cheese and eating chips. Oh and I also had an avocado, wish I would of picked up two. Who knew my daughter was going to love it.
I'm proud of myself for turning down a diet coke.
    Have a great night.

To clarify, smoothies are discouraged since the idea is to chew your food, not drink it, as chewing is more satiating. Coconut water is advised only for rehydrating after endurance athletics or the like.
    Wilt that spinach! ;-)

Low on protein too, and fruit is a bit high.
Keep the template in mind for each meal: 1-2 palm-sized proteins, 1-2 thumbs of fat (nuts are a fat on W30), and 1-2 cups of veggies.

Can I join in? I started my Whole30 on the first so today is day 5. So far so good (well, now that the headache and grumpies are starting to wear off)!
This is my second whole30 and am using it to get myself back on track after feeling the effects of 6 months of stress eating.
    Looking forward to the journey!

I had planned on starting on 1st Jan, but realised that I was being a little unrealistic as we were away and I didn't have much control over my meals; so today has been Day 1!
I can't tell you how happy I was this morning when I woke up as I knew I was getting back into the program for my 2nd W30.  After nearly 2 weeks of eating a few foods that aren't compliant (mainly a bit of alcohol and the occasional bit of sugar or processed food such as mayonnaise) I have felt horrible, grouchy, achey, bloated and generally crap.  I was compliant 85% of the time so it's actually quite amazing how bad I felt when I only went off-plan every now and then.
After 3 awesome compliant meals today I can already feel my body saying thank you.  The aches and pains have reduced significantly already and I look forward to my stomach being less bloated.
My PT sessions start tomorrow - I know it's going to hurt but I'm looking forward to getting my normal routine back again.
Here's to another 30 days of great food and good health!

The Whole 30 is not about losing weight and it is NOT a diet. Weightloss, if it happens, is just a bonus. It is more like a detox/resetting of your system/body. After the 30 days are over, you reintroduce foods to find out what doesn't work for you or makes you feel lousy. Your parents should be happy for you that you are trying to be healthy. I would tell them. Have them read the book and do some research. I bet they will help you.

I'm glad for the reminder by JocI that this is NOT a diet and if weightloss happens, its just a bonus.....whilst my eventual goal will be to lose weight after I finish Whole30, I can't lose any weight moving forward unless I break these old eating and drinking habits. I expect to lose some weight on this program anyway, cutting out all those empty calories for a month has GOT to make a difference to my body composition, so I'm quite excited!

Today (Day 5) started off a bit 'blah' for me I have to admit.  Whilst I had been boasting about how good I'd been feeling, I can't help but think maybe now it's catching up with me?

I didn't have much appetite for breakfast but still ate a baked egg & bacon cup and my last left over stuffed zucchini (trying to use up the leftovers)! For lunch I polished off the last off the chicken mince & cauliflower concoction & added some slivered almonds + the pistachio, avo, cue salad from last night + a handful of cherries. I feel a lot better.

I'm currently cooking the slow cooker pulled pork from Every Day Paleo and hope to take this on a picnic tomorrow with lot's of other yummy Whole30 goodies to keep me going.

Keep going guys - we're all AMAZING!!!

Hello I am starting Whole30 tomorrow. I know it's not the first, but I am a teacher and we are back to school tomorrow so I figured it would be easiest to get into the swing of a routine. This is my first time doing this, I did my meal prep for the week today and am excited to see results. I have lost 40 pounds since I have started my weight loss journey, but I have been stuck for almost a year now so that is why I am giving this a try. Looking to get everyone's support!!

    Megysmoo,
Confused by your question. What do you mean by "official" Whole30? You say you started one in August. Did you not finish? Even if you didn't, you must have read the rules and guidelines. Also, what do you mean by "hopefully a whole 90"? Are you planning to do the whoke 30 for 3 months? If so, good luck!
I am on my second W30. My first was in October. Then a 2 week semi break....still ate the W30 way with the exception of a few adult beverages and a few desserts...not really worth it although I didnt feel as crappy as I thought I would. Started my second one on Black Friday and will continue till my cruise vacation in about 2 weeks. First day of vacation is last day of whole 30.
Will start my 3rd W30 on January 5th!
    Good luck every one!!

I am planning on doing another Whole 30 in January after I return from vacation on the 3rd.  Most likely won't start till the 5th.  I basically have been doing The Whole 30 since October 13th. After I finished it, I gave myself till after Thanksgiving to "go off plan"....I didn't go off too much though.  Black Friday I started up again and my 30th day this time will actually be the first day of our family cruise.  This might be a Whole 29....LOL.  I hope to behave that fist day to complete this whole 30.  I don't plan on going too crazy on the trip.  The worst will be alcohol and maybe some dessert tastes.  So when I return, I will be ready to start again for the new year.

    Good luck everyone!!

Oh my....27 days!!!  You were almost there!!!!  You can do it.  I have had many times even before the Whole 30 that I would go months or years without drinking.  But I do like it so I know I will never stop completely.  At least I don't think I will.  Having said that, I really feel so much better without it but  once I am done with my next W30, I would like to be the kind of person who can just have one drink with dinner.  I tend to go overboard.  LOL

We are very similar...I live alone except when my kids visit and they can fend for themselves.  I am on day 17 and plan on going till 2 days after xmas.  I spend 1 or two sessions a week food prepping.  Usually one day on the weekend and then I get my CSA delivery on Wednesday so depending on what I get, depends on food prepping 2x.
I do workout a lot already.  Yes baby steps is the way to go.  It's hard the first few weeks anyway to workout.  Good luck!

    Hi!
I'm planning on doing my first whole 30 jan 1st, so glad I found this. I did a Sugar detox like doughty_m a while back but only made it to 14 days. I think it was mainly to do with no support. Even though it was only 14 days I could feel and see the difference in my body. So I'm really looking forward to jan.
I'm going to look for you on face book too.
    Good luck to all!

Ok guys a little bit about me. I read "it starts with food" at the end of november and immediately wanted to start eating only foods  what would make me healthier. Today I am on Day 15 of my whole 30 which i was supposed to end before christmas. The way i feel right now i just MIGHT power through the holidays compliant (: Either way All of January will be clean for me whether I am back on Day 1 or if I am on Day 32.

My mind has never felt so clean and clear. I live alone so I have been food preping my lunches for work on Sundays. Another good option is to make multiple servings of your dinners at night and store them for the next day. I got used to drinking black coffee after day 2. I recommend light roast coffees for that.

I think looking forward I need motivation to start working out. I used to be really active a couple of years ago but I cant seem to motivate myself in that aspect. Baby steps I guess. Im thinking about Challenging myself in January to be active for 30 days straight. even if its only for 20 mins. Anyone want to add a workout challenge with me?

Hello everyone!! This will be my second time to start W30....but my first to finish it!

I plan to start on January 1, 2015. I am currently planning meals and stocking up on items needed. I plan to do a lot of freezer meals to help me with lunches and dinners on days I really don't want to full out cook.
I am really looking forward to this.

I am doing my second one. Finished The first one 2 weeks before Thanksgiving. And started this one the day after Thanksgiving. I will not lie, the first week is the hardest. Although in this second whole30 the first week has been a breeze. Just make sure you eat your fats. That is what hold you over between meals. I am now very very very rarely have anything between meals. I need three good meals a day. Good luck....you got this!!!
