    Hi!
Im planning on starting tomorrow so I would be a few days behind but would love to join you all. This will be my second time doing a whole30. Nervous and a little scared because my job is stressful and tiring which for me means emotional eating

First day drawing to a close and how's this for a start?? On my way to work and I got in a car accident! Nobody was hurt so thats all that matters. But I made it through the day without inhaling the chocolate in my fridge out of stress. And the only caffeine I had was green tea this morning which is amazing for me. Here are my meals for the day...nothing exciting because I was supposed to do my big shop after work but that is hard to do when your car is out of commission!
M1: hard boiled eggs, tomato, celery, drizzled with olive oil ( celery first thing is something I will never ever have again..ever) - not a lot in my fridge and had to leave early
    Midmorning-decaf coffee with coconut cream
M2: mixed greens, peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, avocado, chicken breast, olive oil and lemon juice dressing
M3: shredded zucchini, sweet potato, spring onion, kale, coconut oil, beef mince, lots of mixed herbs
Hope everyone had a good day!

    Hi all!
I completed my first whole 30 in November...it was tough but loved it. Then I signed up for January 2nd...then pushed it back to January 5th...then...well I think everyone can see where this is going. My job is incredibly stressful at the moment and I feel like I cant do a whole30 with that as well. But the hard truth is that I can but I am using that as a crutch because frankly does anyone have an entirely stress free month? Nope..so I am in for January 12th. This seems like a great group so if you all will have me I would love to be part of it
Dave - I live in the UK so I will check the exchange rate and put the check in the mail!
Looking forward to the journey again.

    Hi all,
I will be starting on the 5th also, I have signed up to the daily emails and just got my day 0 email so will go through that and take before pics and measurements etc. I read it starts with food quite a while ago but got the audiobook too so have been listening to that to refresh myself over the last few days. I also have both Well Fed cookbooks as well as the nomnompaleo app on my iPad. This is my first time doing the whole30 so want to be prepared! Just a couple of things to get today and I will be all set for tomorrow. I am from the UK any tips from anyone else from the UK are greatly appreciated

Hi all! I was going to start on January 2nd but now I am starting Monday ....this will be my second whole 30. I did my first one in November. Sooo looking forward to it!! This time around I am trying to go with no coffee and no nuts/nut butters. If this is your first time, dont overthink it and try a couple of recipes a week...you dont want to stress yourself out. There are hundreds of recipes out there but the book provides basic recipes that you can start with. Have fun discovering new foods and seasonings:)

Julie-that is amazing news! Need to remember that. Is it weird that I kind of cannot wait until my January whole 30???
So last night I had alcohol for the first time in 45 days. My husband's xmas party was a three course dinner and I knew I would have a drink. I went to crossfit and ran yesterday because I thought I would be having this massive dinner. Well the pumpkin soup was amazing. I ordered beef Wellington and it was seriously sooo small. Didnt eat the pastry and had a couple of veggies. Didnt finish my dessert because it was awful. So on top of not eating much and exercising like a mad woman, I had three drinks. This morning I feel like I did ten rounds of shots...not good at all. My sleep was horrible...first time in weeks. I can honestly say I could go a long time without drinking again. Not worth it at all because I can already tell I wont get a lot done today!

2babies2kidsmom: your post above eating sugar was so honest and true! Time wasted on stuff that makes us unhappy..why do we do it? I definitely feel less productive off the whole 30 and just kind of grumpy...I keep trying to get back on the wagon completely but havent had a truly compliant day since I stopped. I keep saying I will do this or that but right now it seems to be just words. I feel like a politician I signed up for the January whole 30 so I might be doing myself a favor if I gave myself a head start. One positive..still no wine! 45 days! Tonight is my husband's work Christmas meal so it may end here!

    Hey Everybody!
So good to see all of us back at it on this thread!  I had a very encouraging experience this week that was such confirmation of why we are doing this.  I went to the dentist and as the hygienist was cleaning my teach and measuring my gums she said, "Wow,  are you doing anything different? Things look GREAT in here!" I told her the only thing I had changed was my food intake.  She even called the dentist over to take a look and have me explain Whole30.   Hows that for encouraging?  We are doing so much more for our insides than we will ever know from the outside.  Let's keep at in and keep supporting each other!

Some stream of consciousness this morning, as I was cleaning my floor:
Realizing once again that the extra time it takes to plan Whole30 meals, chop veggies, and cook more is an investment in me, versus the time suck that is eating sugar.  When I eat sugar I spend alot of time planning how to get the kids occupied with other things so they won't see me eating that garbage, and I spend alot of time thinking about what I'm going to binge on.  Then I spend alot of time afterwards being mad at myself and acting grumpy towards my family.  On top of that I'm left with less energy and motivation to clean house, cook healthfully for the rest of the family, do homeschool, etc.  Basically less energy, time and motivation to live my life.

    2babies2kidsmom-
First of all, thank you for starting this. Secondly, dont beat yourself up at all. I have said it numerous times but, for me, the sugar dragon wont disappear in 30 days. I havent been whole 30 compliant in the last week since I finished. I started picking at stuff out of old habits. I had that moment of beating myself up but then I said tomorrow is another day (but not in the dramatic Scarlett O'Hara way). Lets see if I can do better. Before I would have gone hog wild if I slipped. And then starved myself the next day. You are not alone. Keep on going...you are in a better position than a month ago?
Kaykay: my plan is to have no plan...sounds stupid but here is my logic. If I plan for something I dont know if I will fully enjoy it. I still havent had alcohol because a special opportunity hasnt presented itself. Just having it for the sake of it has lost its appeal. I just keep trying to ask myself if its special or worthwhile and if it isnt then I pass. I got two chocolates as part of an xmas gift yesterday, ate them, but they didnt taste special. On Saturday, im going to a fancy three course xmas meal. One of the options was beef wellington...could have had salmon and usually would have, but I havent had beef wellington before so it feels special. Will I eat the pastry its encased in? Maybe but only if its good. Thats what im trying for now. This may not work for me in a week but if it doesnt im goung to keep going till I find something that does. I dont expect quick solutions anymore because I wont stick with it and I would like to find something that works for me

    Hello all,
I just completed my first successful whole30 and have gained a lot of insight into my relationship with food. What has helped me most has been to realize I am an addict, and sugar is my drug. When I am tempted, I often think about people who are fighting drug or alcohol addiction, and how they can find the will to stay sober. I am joining the January group because I want to continue to feel great (physically and mentally) and lose weight. We had a great support group in November and I am looking forward to seeing some if those ladies on here again in January.
I am a SAHM to 4 kids, ages 6 and under. My challenges are finding time to make enough food (also having to make different meals), sourcing good food (very far from any grocery store), and just dealing with life's frustrations without relying on sugar. I am always on the hunt for recipes that a picky hubby and kids will eat. We already eat at home for 99% of our meals, so that's not an issue.
I will be staying compliant throughout December, although I will not be totally compliant for the last week of December.
