jmcbn: "Anywhere that there are lots of mosquitoes!"

HCG is a complete farce.   I am familiar with an entire office of women who spent their hard earned dollars on this diet.   It's the 500 calories aday of starvation mode that allows someone to drop it like it's hot.  When the diet is over, the rebound is so fast and furious it will make your head spin. The rebound does not come back as lean muscle mass, it all comes roaring back on in the form of unhealthy fat.

The real mystery is that men sign up for this program.  Why in the world would you give a man the pregnancy hormone to lose weight.  People will take anything and do anything for a quick fix.   It robs them of their cash and spirit.

If you were eating bars, lara or any other kind....those will not give you the stellar results you were hoping for.  The Whole 30 is not a weight loss program or a branded diet.  If you follow all of the rules and recommendations of   "No Snacking" and completely ditch all of the bars, dried fruits and handfuls of nuts...this protocol works.

It's going to take time but gooooing ooooo sooooo slooooow is the only way you want to go.   How many go back to their branded diet only to find themselves rebounding  with every single pound.

Listen to the Mods.  They'll help you get there in the best possible way.  The best possible way is to eat 3 normal meals like normal people do in a grand way.   Most of us can remember when we were kids that our mothers took really good care of us.  The troubles began when we left her safe harbor and starting doing our own cooking or eating dorm food.

We adopted some strange habits that might take a lifetime to unlearn.   There are some who never go sideways but for others....the Whole 30 was created.  It is a Food Reset but the Head Reset that comes with it is so valuable.   It can reset all of those years when our train was off the rails.

When we engage our heads and really think things through, each and every day what we want from our life - we realize that only whole foods can repair our bodies and minds.

Sadly I haven't been anywhere hot enough to get any mosquito bites lately, but I got huge roaring red ones too in my pre Whole30 past - I might have to plan a trip just to test this out!

Today I have noticed for the first time a new NSV from living a W30 lifestyle. Ever since I was first bitten by a mosquito I have had pretty bad allergic reactions to them, every bite would swell up to at least 3 inches in diameter and be a huge angry lumpy mess. This morning I have 3 bites on my left shin and they look like little pimples! No lump, no swelling just a little itchy. I'm feeling rather happy about this

It's awesome to not have to deal with the pain & itching of a bite anymore!

Ummmmm so this is a major side benefit of Whole 30. Baby girl is almost 10 months, and we're doing Baby-Led Weaning which has been an awesome AWESOME exerience (if you don't know what blw is, it's basically skipping the "mush" and cereal and just giving them whole, real, food to feed themselves). I'm loving how well Whole 30 meshes with BLW. I can give girlie ANYTHING we're eating, because it's ALL healthy, whole, real food. Before, we'd eat pretty well, but once in awhile have pizza or something so I'd have to cook something on the side for the baby. Which is just weird, really, like if it's not healthy enough to give the baby ,why are we eating it anyways?! But now it is a piece of cake, because I'm eating 100% healthy, whole real food every single meal.

Kelli the Japanese green teas are a lot more subtle and delicate than the Chinese ones. Each brand and variety tastes different and it can take a few attempts to find one that suits you.

Wow!  I haven't checked here in a while.  I'm so overwhelmed by the positive feedback, but more than anything, so excited that my post motivated some of you to start the program or stick with it.  That means the world to me that in some way, I've helped someone else get on track.  Happy to report that I'm almost at the 9 month mark, and I CONTINUE to see positive changes.  My weight and inches keep trending down as does my glucose and I'm happier than I've ever been before.  I attached a newer "after" photo.  Hope it helps someone out there to know that it just keeps getting better the longer you commit to the lifestyle and invest in yourself!

I love my W30 meals that keep me full and happy. I get to laugh at the people who look at me weirdly as I tuck into a huge plate of meat & veg every lunchtime in the bistro at work, every day is a packed lunch kind of day. My beloved & I work together and each day we sit down to lunch together and tuck into deliciousness that we have created to share with each other. I really can't imagine eating any other way than this.

For lunch today I made us mince & "tatties". Really simple, wonderful comfort food. You need:

    Minced (ground) beef
    onions
    carrots
peas (not while on a W30, I'm not at the moment)
    stock
    Celeriac
    Cauliflower

Slice up those onions and fry them up a bit in some good fat, beef dripping would be perfect but use whatever you have. Don't brown them you just need to release their flavour, should take about 5-10 minutes. Add the beef to the pan and fry till browned, add enough stock to make it wet and saucy but not swimming. Put on the lid and cook for about 30 mins. Slice up the carrots & add them to the mince then cook till done. You can add the carrots at the beginning but I like mine with some bite. Add the peas, if using, near the end so they are just cooked. Mince is quite happy to be left simmering on the stove for an hour or two you just have to make sure it never gets dry. Mince needs to be well seasoned with lots of fresh ground black pepper & salt.

While that is cooking peel then cube up the celeriac & cauliflower and cook in salted boiling water until soft. Mash this up & adjust seasoning to taste.

For mince & tatties the amounts are whatever you want them to be, adjust it to your taste. I love lots of all the veg in mine and tend to be heavy on the onions.

    Lastly eat & enjoy

It's been another couple of months so time for an other update. I'm still eating W30 style nearly every meal, I don't really off road too much and when I do I don't feel guilty about it as I make a concious decision for everything that I eat. I do drink wine and or a couple of gins every weekend which I really enjoy. My energy levels are good and I can head out at lunchtime for a 30k bike ride and feel great afterwards. Afternoon slumps are really a thing of the past; my energy levels tend to be very consistent throughout the day. The only time I have problems is if I don't eat a proper breakfast! I cannot stress enough to any new people just how important this is, if breakfast is not good that is when my energy levels go screwy and I become ravenously hungry in the afternoon.

My skin is still doing fantastically, my eczema has little flare ups occasionally but nothing major. I'm still losing weight too, I jumped on the scale this morning to find I am at my lightest in many years but I don't really care about that as my clothes are fitting me wonderfully and I am buying some things in smaller sizes now. I never have to wear Spanx any-more :-) This slow and steady weight loss has been incredibly satisfying after the initial shock of gaining 2kg wore off and the reality of NSV's seeped into my conciousness. It feels like it is a proper, real & most importantly permanent change to where my body would like to be rather then where I wish it to be. So for all of you who are disappointed at not losing lots of weight in 30 days I can only recommend to be like Dory and just keep swimming, positivity and treating yourself to great nourishing food wins in the end.

So far my weight loss has been slow & steady. I only excluded the foods I am allergic to about 10 days ago and I haven't weighed my self since then but I think my belly has become even less bloated. I'll weigh myself at some point in the next few weeks and report back if I've lost even more, I am only about 5kg more than I think I should be so I don't have masses to lose so it may be slow (which is fine for me).
