    January 2nd start date

Hi I'm Mike. This will be my 2nd Whole30. First was Feb '15. Lost 30+ pounds and learned a lot. I went to old habits as time went by and gained back 20 or so pounds. Biggest culprit is convenience and bored with the recipes I learned. Bought the Whole30 cookbook but didn't read it! Looking forward to picking up new skills and recipes, and friends I'm 47, married with 3 young kids. Good luck everyone.

Thanks kirbygirl. My wife isn't doing Whole30 but she's a healthier eater to start. She doesn't drink alcohol or eat chocolate or cookies. But she has some bad habits (pastries, diet coke, etc). My success is making her think about it. The only thing I can say about avoiding temptations was the advice that everything thing is banned and there's no "treating yourself", etc. So, hands off. I don't exercise and knew that the only way to change was going to be changing my diet. I know my kids will help me get the exercise I can't imagine not having a beer or wine again. Just not sure when Mike

    February 1st

Hi everyone in this Feb 1 group I haven't posted here before but wanted to share my news. I lost 20 pounds I'm 45 and was 209. I'm now 189. I used to drink 2 beers a day, pizza whenever, cookies, chocolate, chips, etc. I've been reading the book since last summer and took awhile to take it all in. My wife and I have a 9-year old daughter and twin boys just 8 months old. I'm the one who stays home. I can't begin to say how happy I am to have found the Whole30. I always wanted to eat better but never invested the time to learn. I spent so much of this month reading and cooking, etc. Temptation has been everywhere and I don't know how I made it. I haven't been on the forum much except to look up a specific "okay" food question or two. I've relied on Nom Nom Paleo and googling "paleo _____". My dry skin around my eyes did come back this week but with a bad winter that's probably normal. I don't have any plans so I'm just going to stay on plan. I have relatives from Ireland coming around St Patrick's Day so I might want a beer but would only do one. I know this also will be better in the long run for my kids so I can't give it up Hope to participate more, Mike C.

    45-yr old stay-at-home dad started Feb 1

Thanks I haven't been on the forum looking but I'm happy to say I lost 20 pounds! I finished my Whole30 yesterday. I haven't decided what to do next so I'm just going to keep going. I'm a slow decision maker I need to reread the chapters talking about what next steps to take to re-introduce foods to see effects. Thanks everyone
  7. Hi everyone, I feel like I've been reading the book forever - maybe 9 months. My wife and I had twin boys born last summer so I guess I have an excuse. I started Feb 1 since I missed starting in January. I was used to having pizza anytime, 2 beers a day, take-out 4-5 times a week (in Queens, NY, we do have many "good" restaurants - Thai, Chinese-American, real Chinese, Korean, etc), DD breakfast sandwich, etc. Having twins and not being healthy quickly makes you realize things had to change. I'm happy to say I'm at Day 13 and surviving. I feel better but am getting tired of all the cooking. Take out was "easy". We also have a 9-yr old daughter. I'm surviving making her meals and not eating them. Tonight was pizza night, etc. She does eat many of the meals I make for myself but not all. I'm going to have my first test eating out this Sunday and hope to find menu items to comply. I use the Nom Nom Paleo site a lot and google for recipes. Look forward to meeting others Mike C.
